Canifis

Posted by: igsky2  //  Category: Runescape Banks Guide

Introduction
Morytania is known for it’s foul beasts and scary ghosts, but Canifis is home to something much more ferocious: Werewolves. Tucked away in the north-eastern corner of RuneScape, Canifis is only accessible via teleport, or completion of the Priest in Peril quest. Only one weapon can deactivate the transformation of a man or woman into a werewolf; the Wolfbane. Regardless of the werewolves, Canifis is often busy with players bustling through to the Barrows east of Mort’ton, or the Slayer Tower north-west of the town.

Special Attractions
Slayer Tower
The Slayer Tower inhabitants area very rare and mysterious creatures. These inhabitants are found in precious few locations in RuneScape, and adventurer’s are often encouraged by slayer masters to come and fight these beasts. While they do not give any Slayer XP unless you have been assigned to kill them, they do have rather good drops. The creatures in the tower range from Crawling Hands, to Infernal Mages, from Gargoyles to Abyssal Demons, et al.

Mushroom Farming
Canifis holds the only Farming patch that allows you to grow Bittercap mushrooms. Anyone who is interested in growing some mushrooms: this is the place for you! Bittercap mushrooms are used at level 44 Cooking to make Moonlight Mead.

Tanner
Sbott runs a tanning store in the north part of town, that tans your hides at what are claimed to be competitive prices. This tanning store is actually the closest to the bank. Tanning soft leather sets you back 2gp, hard leather 5gp, dragonhides 45gp, and snakeskin 25gp.

Hair of the Dog Tavern
Roavar runs the tavern in town, where many of the inhabitants hang out. It features a lovely patio, which is frequently used for ranged and cannon training. Roavar sells Moonlight Meads for 5gp, and a pickled brain is for sale for 50gp and on display on one of the tavern tables. The bar pumps and tables also make good ranging spots. A shortcut to the swamp is behind the bar, provided you have done In Search of the Myreque.

Fairy Rings
Players can travel to Canifis with the Fairy Rings, by using the code: C-K-S. To access the Fairy Rings you must have completed A Fairy Tale Part II quest.

Inhabitants
 Aberrant spectre (level-96)
Examine: A very smelly ghost.
Notes: Level 60 Slayer and a Nosepeg is required to defeat Abberant spectres. They can attack from a long distance with smoke bombs, and if not wearing your Nosepeg, your stats will be greatly reduced. Don’t try and make a run for the spiked chain without a Nosepeg, or you may find that you don’t have the Agility level required to climb it. These monsters are known for dropping Gold charms more commonly. Also note that they are aggressive in the Slayer tower, but non-aggressive in the Desert Slayer dungeon. Beware of fighting them in the Desert Slayer dungeon if you do not possess a slayer helm. The smoke effect in the dungeon will lower your hitpoints drastically (it can’t kill you but it will stay at 1), so it’s advised only using initiate there with a constant eye on your prayer points (if they run out, you’re most likely dead). You can also use a cannon in the Desert Slayer dungeon to speed up a possible slayer task.
 Abyssal demon (level-124)
Examine: A denizen of the Abyss!
Notes: Level 85 slayer is required to kill these.
 Asyn shade (level-100)
Examine: The shadowy remains of a long departed soul.
Notes: A coloured Black key is required to reach this undead shades’ lair. For more information, see the Mort’ton Funeral Pyres mini game guide.
 Asyn shadow (level-100)
Examine: The shadowy remains of a long departed soul.
Notes: This is the first form of an Asyn Shade. When attacked, or when you are near an Asyn shadow, it will rise from the ground to attack you.
 Bloodveld (level-76)
Examine: The tongue of evil.
Notes: Level 50 Slayer is required to kill these. They are found just before the entrance to the Aberrant specter’s lair. Can walk through the corpses and rubble.
 Boris (level-24)
Examine: A traveling man. Are those fleas?
Notes: If you attack this person with any weapon other than the Wolfbane dagger, he will turn into a Werewolf (level-88).
 Crawling hand (level-7)
Examine: Gimmie five. Actually, don’t.
Notes: Level 5 Slayer is required to kill these creatures. The “Crawling hand” drop can be mounted on the wall of your player owned house.
