How to Merchant in Runescape
Note: This article is out of date. Runescape now does not allow people to trade things over or under 3K of their item worth. Please update this page. You may no longer merchent in runescape, as you cant trade items over or under 3K their item worth, making it a pathetic way to make money unless you are a member which can give you a better chance of getting things cheaper or more expensive.
Making money is a main goal of many RuneScape players. One of the simplest and most common money-making methods on RuneScape is merchanting. Either that or simply converting one item into another (clay into soft clay).
Steps
1. Buy silk for 3 gp at the Silk Stall in Al Kharid, and sell for 9-12 gp at the Varrock clothing shop, or, if you are a member, you can sell it for 60 gold pieces at the Silk Stall in Ardougne.
2. Buy a Rune Scimitar for 25k (1K = 1,000 Gold Pieces)and trade it for a Rune Full Helm, which you can then sell for 35k.
3. Buy another Rune Full Helm for 30k, and then sell it for 35k. You now have 40k.
4. Buy a Dragon Mace (Members Item) for 40k and sell it for 50k. # Buy a Rune Platebody for 55k and sell for 65k.
5. Buy Rune Platelegs for 50k and sell for 55k. (Notice that you never have less than 5k by doing this, so you can start over if necessary)
6. Buy an uncharged Amulet of Glory (Members Item) for 50k and sell for 60k.
7. Buy a Rune Kite-Shield for 45k and sell for 50k.
8. Buy 300 coal for 54k or mine it and sell for 210 each; 63k for all.
9. Buy a Granite Maul (Members Item) for 70-90k and sell it for about 20k over what you paid for it.
10. Buy a Dragon Longsword (M) for 85k and sell for 110k.
11. Buy full Runite armour for 160k (this may take a long time) and sell for 185K.
12. Buy 1k flax for 80k, spin it into bowstrings, and sell it all for 170k.
13. Buy a Dragon Halberd for 250k and sell it for 310k.
14. Buy a Dragon medium helm for 250k and sell for 300k, and then repeat 9 more times, making 50k more each time.
15. Buy a Warrior Ring for 400k and sell for 500k.
16. Buy a Verac’s Flail for 500k and sell for 550k. Repeat until you have 1.5 mil.
17. Buy an Abyssal whip for 1.3 mil and sell for 1.45 – 1.5 mil.
18. Buy full Dragon hide for 2.7 mil and sell for 2.85-3 mil
19. Repeat any of these steps numerous times to make even more money.
Alternatives
1. Buy cooked lobsters for 175 gp each and sell at Edgeville for 200-225 gp each. People there are pking, and often will pay higher prices for food.
2. Obtain at least 50k for this method, if not 100k to make it quicker. Start by buying 1k flax for 90k-100k. (500 flax if your using 50k.) Go to Lumbridge bank, put all the flax into the bank, and take out an inventory full, un-noted. Using the southern stairs, go down, and spin the flax on the spinning wheel. Go up the staircase to the bank, and bank the bow strings. Take out another inventory full of flax, and repeat spinning until you have 1k bow strings. Sell them for 150-200 each. This works better if you are persistant and sell the bow string for 200 each on your first time doing this, so then you can double your profit next time.
3. Work for companies in the game. It’s easy work for easy money, since often times, you’re selling an item or buying an item through the company.
4. ==Rune Scimitar Method==
5. Get 25k.
6. Go to world 1, 3, 4 or 5 and go to the west Varrock bank.
7. Buy a Rune scimitar for 20k. Be careful that you’re not being scammed (not so likely because of updates that warn you). This should take around 5 minutes.
8. Sell the Rune scimitar for 25k. Again, be careful that you’re not being scammed. This should take around 3 minutes.
9. Continue these steps a few times and you’ll be rich in time.
10. ==Rune Armour and Weapons method==
11. Obtain 20-80k in cash in order to do this method. Buy one of the following items at the lowest price possible then go to world 1 and sell it at a higher price:

o Rune chain body = 25,000 to 40,000 coins/gp
o Rune plate body = 40,000 to 60,000 coins
o Rune plate legs = 35,000 to 45,000 coins
o Rune kite shield = 35,000 to 50,000 coins
o Rune scimitar = 20,000 to 30,000 coins
o Rune longsword = 15,000 to 25,000 coins
o Rune two-handed sword = 40,000 to 50,000 coins
o Rune battle axe = 25,000 to 40,000 coins
12. ==Lobster Merchanting Method==
13. Get 400k. (the “How to Merchant in RuneScape” wikiHow shows an easy way to do this.)
14. Go to either Karamja Docks (F2P) or Catherby (P2P)
15. Say “Buying 2k raw lobbies!” When you get a seller, offer up your 400k. (thats 200 coins per lobster.)
16. Switch worlds once you have your lobsters or go to the forums. Find someone who is trading “cooked for raw.”
17. Trade with them and offer up your 2k noted raw lobsters. they should offer 2k cooked lobsters. If they don’t, decline.
18. Accept both windows.
19. You now have 2k cooked lobsters. Once again, switch worlds or visit the forums. The forums are your best option here, because people buy for more on them.
20. Find someone who is buying 2k or more cooked lobsters.
21. Tell them you will sell them 2k cooked lobsters for 250 or more each. (don’t sell for more than 300 each)
22. Trade, and they should offer 500k or more, depending on your price.
23. Accept, and voila! You now have 500k.
24. Repeat, but this time buy 2272 raw lobsters.
25. Repeat, buying more raw lobsters for every amount you make.
26. Be happy and successful.

Tips
• These methods can take only 3 hours if done, but it could take you more or less time depending on your experience and/or available time on the Internet. For several methods, RuneScape membership may be required. + *.
• People buy and sell things at different times, so you just have to be patient. *This strategy will work; all you have to do is stick with it.
• Companies make everyone richer!

Warnings
• When you buy for low prices, people will sometimes threaten to report you for item scamming. When this happens, just say “I am plainly stating what I am buying and what I am paying, and I am not breaking any rules” If they don’t back down, let them report you. Jagex doesn’t ban innocent people. you can’t be banned for bad pricing. Scamming is when you trick a player. You can sell a feather for 4m and you can’t be reported.
• Merchanting can make you rich, but it takes time
• Prices may vary; go on the official runescape forums to see very current prices, and look at the zybez market price guide for some other up to date prices.
• Be careful of trades involving runes and arrows, as the recent (as of 07/10/07) update to shops means that runes and arrows can be bought in infinite amounts at a slightly higher than average price, and the prices do not change depending on shop stock as they did previously. Because of this, there may be some radical changes in the street prices of these items. Whether they increase or decrease in price I cannot be sure, but make sure you do your research before you attempt to merchant these!
• With the GE (Grand Exchange) update mercing has officialy died. It´s becomming increasingly harder and harder to buy stuff for low prices and sell them for high prices as so many people are now using GE.
