seers’village

Posted by: cool  //  Category: Beginners' Guide, runescape

Seers Village is another one of the small, members-only villages of RuneScape. Despite its size, it’s well-known as drop party capital of RuneScape, due to the massive amount of woodcutting/fletching. Seers Village also happens to be a very prominent training location for low, to high level woodcutters. Seers Village is a great place to buy and sell fletching or Herblore items.

Flax
Due to fletching, flax has become an important part of Seers. There is a flax field, a spinning wheel, and a bank located within a reasonable distance of each other. This will call for easy crafting experience, along with possible fletching experience (for adding bow strings to bows.)

The Forester’s Arms

Unloading Zone for Coal Trucks
The coal trucks offer a spot to get tons of coal, and then pick up that coal at a later time. To use the coal trucks, you have to go to the area on the western side of McGrubor’s Woods, and mine coal - there are two ways to get there. The first is by heading directly west of Seers’ Village, and crossing the railway tracks, and then the log obstacle (20 agility), or you can go to the south of the Fishing Guild, and make your way up to the coal rocks through one of the gates. Use the coal with the carts, and you will be able to pick up later at the unloading zone. This zone is located in a building north of the bar.

Real Estate Agent
A Real Estate Agent has found a home in Seers Village; just east of the Bank. This agent sells blocks of land, can re-decorate your house, or move it’s location - for a fee of course. He also provides you with a useful book detailing land and construction types.

zanaris (the lost city)

Posted by: cool  //  Category: Beginners' Guide, runescape

The lost city of Zanaris is a members only area that requires you to complete the Lost City quest in order to enter. When entering the small, seemingly useless hut in Lumbridge swamps, while wielding the Dramen staff, you will be teleported into the lost city. It is also possible to enter Zanaris through the cosmic rift in the abyss. This does not require the use of a dramen staff, but you still have to complete the lost city quest. Zanaris is popular for its cosmic Runecrafting altar, otherworldly beings, and furnace. There are also many other things to discover within the marketplace.

It is quite a walk from the bank, however you will receive decent experience from Runecrafting such runes. The altar consists of a space-like area full of flashing lights and stars.

Special Attractions
Real Estate Agent
The Real Estate Agent has found his new home in Varrock; between the Church and the Palace. This agent sells blocks of land, can re-decorate your house, or move it’s location - for a fee of course. He also provides you with a useful book detailing land and construction types.
Mines
South-east Varrock mine - Here are some of the best places to mine. There are many beginners here as there are some tin, copper, and iron. It is one of the best places as it is so close to the east bank in Varrock.

South-west Varrock mine - This is a good place to mine clay, silver, iron, and tin. This is also a prime mining spot because of its nice location to the west Varrock bank.

Woodcutting
Varrock is a prime location to train your Woodcutting skills. Once you are level 60 you can now cut yew. Just north of Varrock palace are three yew trees. It is nice because you are only a short distance from a bank, or the central market to sell them for a nice sum of money. For more on the prices see the Market Price Guide.

Marketplace
This is the biggest and best market area in nearly all of RuneScape. Located right in the centre of Varrock, and around the west bank, you can sell anything you need to at anytime. Here, you can buy or sell anything, at almost anytime of the day or night. Most of your main items are sold in the centre. Then, your rune items are sold just to the east of the west bank and west of Zaff’s Staff Shop. Therefore your rare items are sold to the north of the bank. For more on the prices see the Market Price Guide.

Apothecary
The Apothecary can do various tasks. He can make you a 4-dose strength potion, if you give him a limpwurt root, a red spider egg, and 5gp. Also, you can receive a “potion” from him that is used in the Romeo and Juliet quest. Finally, the Apothecary will give you 325 Herblore experience when you use the “diary” (From the Shades of Mort’ton quest), on him.

Varrock Palace
The castle consists of three floors and a nice training spot in front.

Front of Castle - Here you will find about five guards. This is a prime place for free players to train combat stats. It is also a great area for members to get their thieving up, as there usually aren’t very many people here. It is also a prime place to train for medium level treasure trails.
East side of Castle - Queen Ellamaria has set up her garden for King Roald, but needs your Farming and diplomacy skills in obtaining the seeds and statues for her in Garden of Tranquility quest. Once you finish the quest, you can pick White Tree Fruit from her garden.
First Floor - On the first floor you will find many important people for your quests. Sir Prysin is in the room to the south-west. King Roald is in the room located in the south-east room in the castle. A Monk of Zamorak is trapped in a cage behind the stairs near the entrance to the palace.
Second Floor - When you walk into the north-western room you will find another spawn of guards, here 3-4 spawn. This is another good place to train your combat stats, and to thieve and range for clue scrolls on member servers. To the south-west you will find a combat training area. Also in the northern room you will find a Saradomin altar for recharging prayer.
Third Floor - Captain Rovin is in the room on the north-western side. There is more up here, full of supplies, but unfortunately nobody can reach them.

Cooks’ Guild
The Cooks’ Guild is located west of Varrock and requires level 32 cooking to enter. This guild hosts many spawns for cooking related items including pie plates, grapes, cake tins, pots and jugs. It also has a windmill inside it for people wishing to make flour. There is a sink, several ranges and even a dairy churn located inside to serve nearly all your cooking needs. There also is Romily Weaklax in the Cooks’ Guild who will sell you a pie book to teach you how to make different types of pies and will buy low level pies from you.

Champions’ Guild
The Champions’ Guild is the only combat oriented guild for free players to get into. Free players can buy several rune items out of a shop in the guild, and members when they get challenge scrolls as drops from NPC’s can go into the basement and fight the champion whose challenge scroll the player holds.

Lumberyard & Saw Mill
The Lumberyard and Saw Mill is found just north-east of Varrock, by the pub near the wilderness. The Lumberyard is used in Gertrude’s Cat quest. Here you will find Gertrude’s cat, to take home to her kittens. The Saw Mill, just below the Lumberyard, is used in the Construction skill. The Sawmill operator also sells saws, cloth and nails. He will also turn logs into planks for a certain price per log.

Canoes
Canoes are a new transportation style for members. One can canoe from Lumbridge all the way up the Lum river to Edgeville. The stop by Varrock is next to the Champions’ Guild. Check out the Getting Around guide to learn more about how to use canoes and where you can land.

Rat Pits
The rat pits are a mini-game for members who wish to train their cat into 2 special stages - Wiley and Lazy. Check out the Pet Care Guide on how to unlock these 2 stages of cat. Members can also pit their cats against each other in a game of rat catching. Whoever kills the most rats wins.

Dungeons
There are a few dungeons in Varrock. The main dungeon players talk about is the Varrock Sewers. This dungeon is large and has training places for nearly any level of player and has spots for different combat types too. The sewers also have an agility connector to the nearby Edgeville Dungeon.

Another dungeon around Varrock is the Phoenix Gang Hideout. This small dungeon has a few thieves to attack, but not much else. The final dungeon around Varrock is the dungeon under the Digsite. This dungeon appears to be a temple devoted to Zaros though not much is known about it currently. The final dungeon near Varrock is to the far north-east. It is the dungeon that gives you access across the River Salve into Morytania. This dungeon is commonly referred to as Drezel’s Basement dungeon.

The final dungeon around Varrock currently is the Crevice Cave. This dungeon contains many good training spots for lower levels and some cool graphics to go along with the NPC’s.

Special Attractions
Agility Training Area
This stronghold is home to a beginners’ agility training area. Up to level 32 there aren’t any other courses to train at, so you’re stuck here. (With the exception of the Brimhaven agility dungeon) For more detailed information, see the Agility Skill guide.

Gnome Restaurant Mini game
Speak to Gianne jnr. and you can begin this time based mini game with rewards such as teleports to the gnomes and special clothing, for more information read our, Gnome Restaurant guide.

Fletching/Crafting
With the flax to pick, and the spinning wheels, this is one of the scarce few locations to make bowstring. It is fairly simple to pick the flax, spin it, and bank it quickly. With the yew trees here, you can string, and cut your yew longs in the same place.

Woodcutting
With the abundance of yew trees, and a rare magic tree, the Stronghold is a woodcutter’s haven. The magic tree’s proximity to a bank makes it easy to cut your logs, then bank them fast. You will find many players cutting logs around the stronghold.

Mining
After you complete The Grand Tree quest, you can go under the Grand Tree, go north, push a branch aside, and find an underground mining site. It contains the basic ores, tin, copper, coal, a bit of mithril, and couple adamant.

Farming
There are 2 farming plots inside the Stronghold. One is a fruit tree patch just north of the agility course. The second patch is a regular tree patch just south-west of the southern bank.

Gnomeball
Gnomeball is a mini-game you can play to win your very own Gnomeball, and some small agility experience. Basically, you throw a ball (given to you by the referee) to gnome wingers a few times, and then throw it at the goal. After it goes in five times, you can talk to the ref for a Gnomeball you can take with you. Every goal you make gives you agility exp. The first goal gives 4xp, the second 5xp, the third 6xp, the fourth 7xp, and the final goal gives 30xp. This comes to a total of 52xp for a full game of Gnomeball.

Spirit Trees and Gnome Gliders
Spirit Trees and Gnome Gliders are two of the main ways to get around RuneScape. Both based in the Stronghold, they can teleport you and fly you to locations all around the world. After you complete The Grand Tree quest, King Narnode will give you access to the Spirit Trees and the Gnome Gliders.

Spirit Trees: The tree which is directly north of the entrance can teleport you to any of its brothers around the RuneScape world. Talk to it to be teleported to one of these locations:

Tree Gnome Village
Forest north of Varrock
North of the Gnome-Khazard Battlefield (just south of Ardougne)
Also, you need to know that all teleportation is taken through the larger Spirit Trees at the Tree Gnome Village or the Gnome Stronghold.

Gnome Gliders:
Go to the top floor of the Grand Tree to find a Gnome Pilot, and his Glider. He can fly you to even more locations than the Spirit Trees. You can fly to these places:

Grand Tree (Ta Quir Priw, [you're here now])
White Wolf Mountains (Sindarpos)
Digsite (Lemanto Andra)
Al-Kharid (Kar-Hewo)
Karamja Island (Gandius)
-When you go here during the quest, it will be a crash landing at a different location then after the quest.
Feldip Hills (Lemantolly Undri)
-Usable after One Small Favor quest is completed.
Like the Spirit Trees, all flights must come to or from the Grand Tree. From this hub, you can then go to your desired location.

Quests
The Eyes of Glouphrie: Talk to Brimstail in his cave in the western portion of the Tree Gnome Stronghold.
