How to Get Free Items on Runescape

Posted by: cow  //  Category: runescape items

There is one, and only one, real way to make money on Runescape: by getting and selling stuff. The more expensive the item, the more its worth. Pretty much anything you can find and have on Runescape can be sold. An item on Runescape can be worth 1 coin, or MILLIONS of coins.

Unfortunately, to be able to obtain items worth millions, or even thousands, you have to build skills, and you’ll need coins! Everyone has to start somewhere, and the best way to start is by getting free stuff and than selling it. You can even save money if you just know where to look to get what you need for free.

Well, hopefully you won’t have to look too far. At least this article will make it easier for you to find ways to get free stuff.

Beg
Though this is the lowest thing to do out of the ways, it can work if you do it right. Begging requires patience, and the appearance of being poor, or a noob. Either one will be sympathized, usually. Here are some tips on begging:

  • Dress in noob clothes and if you are a very low level, act like you’re new to the game. (being a level 3 works best)
  • Act like you just died. It happens to everyone. Say you lost almost everything.
  • The best begging spot is Lumbridge, because that’s where newbies begin and where dead people start all over again.
  • Find a world that has a good amount of people, but it’s not overcrowded with newbies/beggars
  • Don’t spam. Plea for money or stuff once a minute.
  • Always accept whatever is given to you and say thanks! If it’s junk than just sell it at a general store.

Find Drop Parties
A drop party is a simple idea. A group of people, or one person, drops random crap on the ground. What’s an even simpler idea is how to get free stuff out of it! The types of items dropped in a drop party vary in value, but almost all of the time they are useful and can be sold for money! Drop parties are extremely easy to find: go to an overpopulated, crowded, bank. Just be in a fairly populated world and head over to Varrock, you’ll have no problem finding a crowded bank there!

If you don’t feel like fighting or working for free stuff, than just find drop parties. Drop parties aren’t made for everyone though, it requires a bit of time, patience and skill. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of drop parties:

  • You’ll be looking for someone yelling Drop Party!!! or something like that. If you find someone that says that, STALK THEM.
  • Once you have a target, watch the ground beneath them at all times. You have to be quick if you want to be able to get something.
  • Stand in the same spot as them. That way you don’t have to run across the room to try and be the first one to pick up what they dropped.
  • When you see something hit the ground, click click click! Chances are you are competing with other people, and the person that dropped stuff dropped more than one thing.

Kill
Ah, you didn’t think I would forget the most gruesome way of all to get free stuff, did ya? You can’t go through Runescape without killing SOMETHING. Fact: Everything you kill in Runescape drops something. Even if it’s just some bones or feathers. (People buy those too, you know?)

There are two types of things you can kill to get stuff for free: Computers or other players.
Computers- I don’t literally mean computers running around Runescape. Anything that’s not controlled by another player, is just a free roaming CPU. Goblins, cows, dragons, farmers, are all CPUs. Most of them you can kill too. (Oh I wish I could kill Romeo :)) It would take me forever to cover each type of CPU that you could kill and what they drop, so explore for yourself to see. If you are a low level/beginner, I recommend killing goblins. They roam all around Lumbridge, especially behind the General store. They are fairly easy to kill, and they drop really good beginner items, like bronze shields and swords, and goblin armor that sells for around 17 GP in the General store. Of course, as you become stronger and can fight harder creatures, they’ll drop more valuable items.

Free runescape items - Wild

Other Players- If you venture into the wilderness or other various parts that warns you you’re about to step into an area where other players can attack you, be careful. It’s a dangerous, hectic, place and the chances of being attacked out of nowhere and dying are great. In fact, you’ll probably be fired at within your first five steps upon entering the wilderness. You have to be strong, with a good range of fighting skills, heavily armored, and fast! If you decide to do this, bring lots of food with you, you’ll need it. The good thing about fighting other players is they’ll drop really good and valuable stuff, since you only keep three items when you die.

Free runescape items - Wood

Get It Yourself!
The reason for having so many different types of skills you can work on is so that you can get what you need by getting it yourself. Need willows for fletching? Go cut down some willows! Need some food? Go fish or cook! Need armor? Well, go make it than! If you are rich and would prefer just to take the easy way out, than go ahead and buy the things you need. But, if you’re at the other end, you are going to need to get most of the things you need for free because you can’t afford it. If you are looking just to make money, than choose a skill that you like and are good at and do it. Whether it’s armor, arrows, wood, or food, you can sell it to other players for money.

Free runescape items - Bank

Steal (Members Only)
If you’re a member, you should definitely spend some time working on your Thieving skill. You can steal stuff that you don’t normally find from CPU drops, but don’t want to spend money on it either. Things like wine, seeds, food and weapons. All useful things that you can either use for yourself or sell for money. Just be ready to fight the Guards that protect the stalls if they catch you!

See, there are plenty of ways to get free items on Runescape. You don’t have to pay for everything! If you want to be able to get around Runescape, than you are going to have to hunt for free items.

Runescape Rare Items

Runescape Rare Items
Runescape Rare Items have gripped the Runescape economy and in a way are like the equivalent coastline real estate of real world. Why do I compare Runescape rare items to that of coast line or beach front real estate? Well because like beach front real estate there is a very limited quantity available in good locations and there definitely isn’t more of it going on the market. Runescape rare items are the same, and their value is skyrocketing, and with every passing month the value of such rare items is increasing.
Why Are Runescape Rare Items So Expensive?
Well because back in 2001 and 2002 when these items were dropped they were dropped in a fashion that allowed them to be tradable. Yet they were only dropped brief period in time, the specific holiday that the item was created for. This of course meant that for any players that weren’t playing on that particular day and wasn’t able to pick one of these rare holiday items up it meant that they had to buy one off another player. This meant that there was an active supply and demand for these holiday items like party hats, santa hats, Halloween masks etc.

Now it is basic economics that price generally equals the equilibrium point where supply meets demand. So if supply equals demand then this explains why are the prices of Runescape rare items are so high. See the supply of the these Runescape rare items is essentially fixed or decreasing, meaning that with ever passing month the supply for these rare items is actually decreasing. Why? Well because every time someone with one of these rare holiday items quits Runescape without selling or trading their rare item away that is another rare item that leaves the market which means there are less Runescape rare items to be purchased and therefore this reduces supply and pushes prices up.

Now in addition to there being continual pressure on prices to increase due to the decrease in supply there is also an additional force on the demand side again further pushing the prices of such Runescape rare items up. This is due to the fact that the demand for these items is almost always increasing due to the popularity of Runescape itself increasing. What do I mean by this? Well basically every time new players join Runescape they too become another person that would love to own a Runescape rare item. So with every passing day, week, month, year, not only is supply dropping by demand is increasing. All of this eventually leads to strong upward pressure on prices.

Runescape Rare Item Duplicator
Now the only time in history that the price of Runescape rare items has significantly dropped was when someone worked our how to duplicate the rare Runescape item, the pink party hat, and of course if you could duplicate any Runescape item with your duplicator your would of course duplicate the most expensive ones which in this case was pink party hats which at the time were the most expensive of the party hats. So how did this affect the price of Runescape rare items? Well they plummeted. Why? Because there was a huge increase in supply of rare items in combination with a reduction in demand for rare items seeing people were unsure of their future, and both of these changes in supply and demand put huge downward pressure on Runescape rare item prices. Of course once Jagex had fixed the duplicating glitch prices once again began to rise again slowly to today’s heights of being multi-million Runescape gold purchases.

Purchasing your Runescape Rare Items
Well to own a wearable Runescape rare item is quite a privilege these days, and a privilege that I’d imagine 99% of Runescape players won’t ever get the chance to experience. The sad reality is that the prices of Runescape rare items is quickly becoming out of reach for new players. Why? Well at the rate of inflation of these items it is hard to see new player being able to develop their characters to the point where they are able to earn enough Runescape gold to be able to pay for such items is probably getting out of reach. The amount of gold it costs to purchase these Runescape rare items seems to be close to doubling every 3 – 6 months. So even if a new player was able to make around 100k and hour on average and was able to play for 3 hours a day then that would mean that they could earn around 2 million Runescape gold a week. That that isn’t a small task by the average Runescape players standards and when considering the cheapest of these wearable Runescape rare items is now over 20 million gold you are looking at it taking in excess of 10 weeks to make this sort of money, by which time the price of the item will have increased no doubt by at least 50%. As you can see it really is an upward battle in regards to obtaining a wearable Runescape rare item these days.

Runescape Rare Items Future
So what is the future for such Runescape rare items? Well one would think that the price would continue to go up, maybe not as fast as it traditionally has been rising, due to the fact that prices are extremely high at the moment and well out of the reach of the HUGE majority of Runescape players. So is there any potential for prices of Runescape rare items to drop? Well the only three circumstances that I can envisage a drop in Runescape rare prices would be in the following cases; someone manages to create another Runescape item duplicator which would again force prices of rare items down quite sharply. I couldn’t predict the likelihood of something like this happening again in the future but I would imagine it would be quite low. Secondly the prices of such rare items would plummet if Jagex made the announcement that all discontinued items would be removed from the game. I don’t know how quickly prices would plummet but I’d imagine that you would probably see the prices drop to a few thousand Runescape gold very quickly, but I don’t think Jagex would do this because they would probably lose around 20% of players doing it. The third way I envisage that the prices of Runescape rare items would drop would be if the popularity of Runescape itself would drop creating a situation where the number of people demanding such items would drop and as long as the number of Runescape rare items available to purchase doesn’t drop this should bring around a corresponding price drop in the Runescape rare items market.

If you’re saving up for a Runescape rare item then best of luck and I highly recommend you start saving now and work as quickly as you can because otherwise you may lose your battle against Runescape’s inflation.

The Runescape Items

Runescape Items – Rares, Duplicators & Free Runescape Items
Runescape is a simple and free game played by millions of people and one of the most enjoyable parts of it is collecting all the Runescape items that are available. There are literally thousands upon thousands of items to collect in Runescape. Some are obviously more valuable, rare and prized than others. There are even items that no longer are able to be created which has created a whole industry of specific Runescape item trading in itself. This is the Runescape rare item market consisting of things like party hats, santa hats, holloween masks plus a few other items that are so sort after that it costs millions of Runescape gold to just buy one of these items.

Runescape Rare Items – Holiday Drops
These Runescape rare items, often referred to as holiday drops, were a feature of Runescape back when the game was in its first couple of years. Essentially Jagex had items spawn in different locations all around Runescape on certain holidays, namely Christmas, Easter and Halloween and these free holiday item drops were meant to be a celebration of the event, and well these yearly events only happened once a year so these particular Runescape items were only able to be collected on one specific day of the year and it didn’t take long before people realized that while demand for these items was increasing but the supply was always decreasing as less and less of these items could be found on the market. This of course forced the prices up to the point where they are now, at millions of Runescape gold to buy just one of these items, and with every passing month the price of such Runescape items just continues to climb.

Runescape Item Duplicator
The only time that the prices of these particular Runescape rare items have ever really crashed was when someone managed to create a Runescape item duplicator. Of course they used this item duplicator to start duplicating Runescape items, and not just any Runescape items, the Runescape rare items, mainly pink party hats which were at the time worth many, many millions of Runescape gold. Obviously Jagex and the Runescape market realized that there was a sudden influx of party hats for sale on the market and as such they found out how players were duplicating Runescape items and removed the glitch from the game. The damage however was already done, the Runescape rare item market had already crashed and with knowledge that it was possible to create a Runescape item duplicator to exploit runscape glitches put added uncertainty in the rare item market and prices stayed low for quite awhile.

Runescape Rare Items for Sale
A lot like Runescape gold there are many Runescape rare item sellers that will actually sell rare Runescape items for money as well as have other runescape items for sale. Of course this is against Jagex’s rules this doesn’t stop the trading from taking place. Now whilst some people opt to buy there Runescape rare items from such gold selling stores many players spend countless hours saving their Runescape gold up to be able to afford such items. Players literally spend months saving for these particular Runescape items and with the rate at which prices inflate for these items it is near impossible to be able to earn the money without the price having doubled by the time they have saved enough gold for their prized rare item.

Free Runescape Items Beggars
If there is one thing you should expect once you do start to wear some of the more expensive Runescape items it is that you should prepare for the onslaught of free Runescape item beggars that will begin to approach you asking for free Runescape items. It seems that because Runescape in itself is a free game that it draws somewhat of the cheapskate sort of attitude out of many people to the point where they are constantly harassing those that have spent many hours working hard to get their Runescape items for them to give them free Runescape items just because they believe they can afford it. Of course I’m not suggesting that just because there are people that will beg for free Runescape items that it is not worth your time to try and get such wearable rare items, more just suggesting that you should be aware of the fact that when wearing certain items it can draw undue attention.

Well best of luck on your road to collecting your Runescape items. Make sure you also have fun along the way

Runescape Rare Holiday Items

Runescape Rare Holiday Items

There are various forms of discontinued items which can be classified under the non-holiday and holiday items. These holiday items can be easily found in the various places through out the year during certain holidays. It should be noted that these holiday places are random and include several places spread all over the RuneScape world. Since most of these holiday items are dropped only at rare occasion including holidays during the year, they eventually become very rare. The same situation goes on and eventually leads to high demands accompanied with very low supplies. This on the other hand forces the prices to go up and soon these holiday items become very rare, hard to find and very expensive.

There are various kinds of holiday items dropped through out the RuneScape world. Some of the most common holiday items include:

Pumpkins: These are the most common dropped holiday items and are mainly dropped on the October2001. These were also one of the first items to be dropped and resulted in 14 health points. These pumpkins can also be bitten only once. Santa hats: These items are mainly dropped on the 2000 Christmas. These hats can be easily worn on the heads and just like pumpkins were very commonly found. Recently these items were discontinued mainly because they were he last items to be released and in most of the cases were hoarded. Halloween masks: These masks came along in three different kinds of designs and colors. These items can be easily worn on the head and were mainly dropped on the 2002 Halloween.

Easter eggs: These are the best items to be dropped as holiday gifts. This item was mainly meant for a single bite and lead to healing of 12HP. These items were mainly dropped on the Eater 2002. Christmas crackers: This item was mainly dropped on 2001 Christmas and came along random colors. At times these crackers also came along the party hats hidden inside them which can be unveiled easily. In order to get hold of the party hat the player first has to use the cracker upon some other player. Thus, in the end one of the players gets hold of the party hat while the other gets the cracker. Party hat: This item was mainly found inside the Christmas crackers. These hats came along in several colors and designs. There were six main colors which included green, yellow, purple, blue, white and red.

There were also several types of non holiday items dropped. These items included the half jug of wine: The players got hold of this item is they drink the full jug of wine. These items are no more available as the players cannot drink the full jug of wine anymore. Disks of returning: This is the last item to be dropped. Ones there was a black hole which was used for putting the rule breakers. The rule breakers can never get out of this black hole. But, for the players who have not broken any rule and still want to visit the black hole the disk can serve the purpose.

Runescape Item Duplicator

Posted by: cool  //  Category: runescape items

Runescape item duplicators. A dream come true, yes? Well let me tell you one thing, there is no such thing. There never has been. All those who claim to have one are lying, and if they say there are item duplicators, there aren’t their just a nasty thing called Spyware. Spyware is used to steal information from your computer. So they can take anything from your Runescape username and password to your credit card details so beware.

DON’T “PURCHASE” AN ITEM DUPLICATOR OR LOOK FOR ONE, REMEMBER, THERE’S NO SUCH THING.

If you have a mate that claims that he has an item duplicator, laugh in his face, and wish him good luck his character along with other things is about to go soon.

It would be a good to let your friends or people you know who play Runescape who think that there’s such thing as an item duplicator to tell them that there is no such thing. Tell them not to go searching for one either IT’S DANGEROUS FOR THEM TO DO SO.

Jagex has been clever with how the make Runescape, I don’t think they’ll allow a loophole within the game to even allow item duplication to become a reality, and anyone claiming to have a successful working duplicator is a liar and a thief.

While were talking about dangers with keeping your account safe, we might as well go over Runescape Item services or the like. There are many sites out there who claim to be able to give you an abundance of wealth and items. All you have to do is enter your username and password into their site, yea, right, don’t be a fool and do this, only enter your username and password into RUNESCAPE.COM and no other site whatsoever.

Another danger with some players is that they’ll receive an e-mail from someone who claims to be from the Runescape Staff, asking for their username and password. This is also a scam. The Runescape Staff will never have to ask for your username and password, and never will. It’s just someone trying to be clever and get your username and password to take your account so beware.

General message of this article, beware of all the scams that aren’t just in-game, they are a real threat to your account. Remember, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

How to get a Party Hat in Runescape

Posted by: cool  //  Category: runescape items

Runescape party hats are very expensive and rare. There is only so many out there. As each day goes on, more and more are lost. There is only two ways of getting a party hat. One way is to buy one from another player. The other, which is very unlikely, is to pick it up after someone has died wearing it or died with it in his or her inventory. (although without a skull above their head it is even more unlikely.

There are six different types of party hats, which are:
- Red Party Hat
- Yellow Party Hat
- White Party Hat
- Blue Party Hat
- Green Party Hat
- Purple Party Hat

The red party hat is worth around 230,000,000gp.

The yellow party hat is worth around 175,750,000gp

The white party hat, which seems like one of the rarest, is worth around 280,000,00gp.

The blue party hat, which is in fact very rare, is worth around 400,000,000 gp.

The green party hat is worth around 195,000,000gp and the purple party hat is worth around 160,000,000gp.

Of course, these prices change almost every week, it is impossible to get a definite exact number on anything. Party hats were first dropped in December 2001. They were the very first tradable holiday item. Not many people got them, as they were not expecting it. However, after they realized what Runescape had planned, they expected it. After awhile Runescape decided to make the items untradable and you could only get one. Then they decided to use NPC’s to send them out. NPC means non-player character, in other words it’s a computer.

Runescape party hats are all the rave. When you see one you think, dang I wish I were him! In addition, with a blue party hat, could you really resist wanting it? So what’s the point in a party hat? There really isn’t a point whatsoever. They don’t boost your stats, they don’t teleport you to some super awesome party land, and they don’t heal you. They really are useless. So why are they so expensive? Well, they are over 7 years old! Any item that can survive 7 years of circulation deserves this high price.

These party hats, along with any other item like it, are rapidly increasing in value. Every time one is knocked out of circulation the price jumps higher. Soon there will be a trillion dollar party hat out there, and it will be the only one left. So, if you want to invest your 400,000,000gp into something worthwhile, go buy a blue party hat, store it in your bank, and wait. Wait for the year to come when the blue party hats are in the billions. (They will be there eventually.)

Now, that you know all of this wonderful information to help you get a party hat in Runescape, do you still want one, even though it’s useless? Well I do. I want the whole collection and a Santa hat! If I had the whole collection I would go somewhere popular and keep switching them out like a flashy rainbow. Red to blue, blue to purple, purple to yellow, yellow to green, back to red! Ha-ha, it would indeed be a fun day. Especially with all the people out there that would say, “Hey can I have some money?” or “Hey dude can I have a party hat??”. I would just keep switching them until I had attracted enough attention, then I would walk off and no doubt, they would follow me. Then it would be a party hat train. All aboard!

Runescape Santa Hat

Posted by: cool  //  Category: runescape items

The Runescape Santa hat was dropped in the 2002 Christmas drop. The only way to get one now, is to buy it for 25 million gp. It was the last tradable holiday item, and it is still the most popular. A lot of members have the Santa hat and like to show it off every now and then. However, if I owned a Santa hat, I’d just save it for a year or two. The price of the Santa triples every year. Its also hard to find someone that’s selling one. You could go onto the website forum under discontinued items and search there, or also in world 2 against the wall; I hear is a good spot.

So why is the Santa hat so important and rare? Why is it the most sought after item? Well, it is easily definable, when you see someone with it on, you know they are rich and like to show it. In addition, it is very fashionable. With a Runescape Santa hat on, you know that people will respect you, and a lot of times noobs will ask for money. This is very understandable. If I was a level 23 and I saw someone with a 25 million dollar hat on, I think id ask for money too, not! I would start working hard and get it.

Runescape classic also had a Santa hat. For those of you know that do not know what Runescape classic was, it was a lot like the Runescape we know today, but with really bad graphics. It seems that Runescape classic has disappeared off the map now. Nevertheless, they did indeed have a Santa hat. I am not sure how it came about in classic, most likely the same as Runescape 2. I also don’t know the price of the Santa hat back then, but I doubt it was as expensive as today.

The screen shot above shows you what a Santa hat looked like in Runescape classic. Funny enough, it looks more detailed than in Runescape 2. But if you saw the person holding the Santa hat, you would certainly turn away. The people in Runescape classic were like 2d cardboard cutouts. The walk was choppy and laggy and I can just imagine fighting. Jagex made a great choice in Runescape 2. Who knows, sometime in the future there may be a Runescape 3. If there is a Runescape 3, be sure to grab those Santa hats!

It seems like 25 million gold is a lot of money for a hat. But think about how old they are. From 2002 to 2008, they are seven years old. Pretty old hat isn’t it? So you can see why its 25 million gold to get this wonderful hat. Does this hat have special powers? I don’t think so. Does it help you with your stats? Not that I know of. Does it do anything at all? Yes, looks cool. But it is just a hat, a really old Runescape Santa hat.

I guess mostly it’s a symbol of your wealth. Why else would you buy one? Certainly not to take into the wilderness or stake in a duel. Well, maybe you would do that, but that’s just to show off how much money you have. If I saw someone in the wilderness with a Santa hat on, I’d be mad. He or she would be boasting that they have so much money that they can just risk the loss of a 25 million gold hat. I’d have to attack them, for revenge, and for the hat. If I ever get a hat I am selling it in a instant. (Well, after wearing it and showing off.)

Runescape Phat - 2

Posted by: cool  //  Category: runescape items

Ever walked by a player with a white hat in the shape of a crown? Ever walked by a talking Easter egg? These items are known as rare or discontinued items. Rare items are items that were introduced to the world of RuneScape for a twenty-four hour period to celebrate a holiday. The most famous rare items, also known to some as holiday drops, were dropped on Christmas, Easter and Halloween of the years 2001 and 2002. Unfortunately, after noticing that these holiday drops were constantly elevating in worth and negatively affecting the RuneScape economy, Jagex decided to put an end to tradable holiday drops. Today, the holiday drops from 2001 and 2002 are still on the market, being traded back and forth, and still becoming more and more expensive. Soon, some of these rare items will be worth over a billion RuneScape gold!

Runescape party hats, also referred to as Phats, are one of the most expensive piece of headgear in the game. They are for sure the most wanted headgear in the game since Christmas of 2001. When examining party hats in the game, this message appears: nice hat from a cracker. This is because the Christmas drop of 2001 was a party cracker, and once it was opened in a certain way, the party hat would come out. These party hats come in six different colours: blue, white, green, yellow, red and pink/purple. Blue party hats are currently the most expensive in the game, and pink/purple party hats are the least expensive in the game.

As a RuneScape player, you may be trying to figure out a way to get your hands on one of these party hats. In 2001, there was no challenge. Players would pick up party crackers for free, and then use them on another player. Then, one of the two players would get a party hat, and the other would get a different item. This item and the whole process were completely randomly calculated. In a sense, everyone was a winner.

Today though, if you wish to own a party hat, you must work hard to earn one. One way is to work until you become a millionaire, and then buy a party hat. The other way, only if you’re lucky, you’ll come face to face with someone that is willing to risk their party hat in the wild or in Al Kharid’s Duel Arena.

At the time of the drop, when players would either get a party hat or a random item, most players preferred the random item because it was worth more than a party hat. Little did they know, these party hats would be one of the greatest items of the game. Thanks to party hats and other items like these, a new market was created; the RuneScape rare items market. Players began to collect party hats and party hat sets.

These party hat sets included six different party hats, one of every colour. The sets are already worth well over a billion RuneScape gold. The reason why party hats are so rare is because there is a limited supply in circulation and there will probably never be any more of them dropped. Just think; every time someone dies with a party hat and nobody collects it from the ground, there is one less party hat in circulation. This will naturally increase the price of the party hat. And that price will continue to rise until there are no party hats left!

Runescape Party Hat

Posted by: cool  //  Category: runescape items

Runescape is full of fun and exciting items, specially dropped on special occasions such as Christmas, Easter, and Halloween. Some of these items that were dropped years back in the world of Runescape have been extremely rare, and thus extremely valuable. For example, the Santa Hat of Christmas 2002. When dropped, they were only worth around 30k (30,000 GP) each, but now their worth has soared to the millions! This has been the same for items such as Halloween masks of 2003, and also Easter Eggs. Sadly this trend can’t happen with non-tradable items (not fair, I have a Scythe) but, that makes those non-tradable items even more rare even though you can’t sell them (yay!).

That moves us swiftly onto the Runescape Party Hat. These were dropped a while back too, and are the most commonly talked about rare item around.

Runescape party hats, often referred to as Runescape phats, were introduced into the game in Christmas of 2001. These Runescape party hats were not actually dropped in Runescape themselves rather they were introduced through the form of Runescape party crackers. These party crackers were dropped in Runescape for free and players were able to pick them up and then use them on other players. Then just like with normal party crackers inside there was an item accompanied by a party hat.
One player would get the item, which was random, while the other player would get the party hat. Now at the time obtaining the item that the party cracker contained was normally far more valuable but within a matter of weeks these Runescape party hats became exceedingly valuable as people realized that there was obviously a limited number of them available.

So with the dropping of these party crackers and party hats a new market was created, the Runescape rare items market. People began collecting these party hats attempting to collect Runescape party hat sets which are basically where a player had all the different colors of party hats, which includes, blue, white, green, yellow, red and pink (purple). These Runescape party hat sets are now worth well over a billion Runescape gold which and there is a very vibrant market for these items.
