Runescape Scams
If you have been playing Runescape for any significant amount of time you will have no doubt pick up that there is a significant amount of players that are willing to do almost anything to cut corners in the game, whether that be beg other players for hours for Runescape items, use cheats specifically designed for Runescape, or what I will be discussing in this articles – Runescape scams.
There is an ever increasing number of Runescape players searching for how to scam people on Runescape with Runescape scams, and with Runescape’s ever growing popularity there are unfortunately new, fresh and oblivious victims joining the game everyday so there is no shortage of new players to scam. So what can you do to make sure that you aren’t the next victim of one these Runescape scams.

Avoid Runescape Scams and get to Keep Your Runescape Items
One of the most common Runescape scams is the old trading scam where the scammer will start out by offering an item or amount of cash and then quickly change the items they are offering to something very similar in description or image to what you believe that you were to be receiving from the trade, but when in actual fact the value of the Runescape item or amount of Runescape gold you will be receiving will be vastly short of what you originally thought you were receiving. So how can your avoid these sorts of Runescape scams, well it’s pretty simple really – don’t rush your Runescape trades. Take your time, review each screen before accepting the trade, make sure you are actually getting the Runescape items you original agreed to. In addition to checking Runescape trade screens, to some degree, you shouldn’t trust players you don’t know, regardless of their level. There are a lot more Runescape scams other than this trade screen scams, here are a couple of the more common Runescape scams you will hear whilst you play Runescape.

Item Duplicator Runescape Scam
This scam involves someone offering to duplicate your Runescape items for you, all you have to do is give them your Runescape items and then they will do their ā€œmagicā€ to them. The reality is that they will take your items and never return. Of course this scams sounds so simple it is hard to believe that anyone would fall for it, well often what many of these scammers will do is suggest to you that you give them a cheaper item, like adamite or mithril armor or weapons and then they will proceed to give you back two of the items you just gave them, and then they may even suggest you give them another cheap item which they will again give back two of, and now having built a little trust up you may give them a couple of items that are little more expensive like some rune armor which they will then keep. So whilst they have given you some adamite and mithril items you have lost out overall because they stole your rune items which were far more gold.

The Personal Item Duplicator Scam
This Runescape scam is a little cruder and essentially involves someone convincing you that they have found out a way to duplicate Runescape items, and that you can do it as well. Then they will something to the effect of, ā€œall you have to do is place the Runescape item on the floor and then wait 5 seconds and then stand on the item and then simultaneously press ALT + F4, at which point your internet window will close and you will be logged out of Runescape and considering it will take you quite awhile to load a new window and load Runescape again by which time the items you dropped will have spawned so that everyone can see them and which point the person who convinced you that you could duplicate your Runescape items has picked the items your left on ground up and run away.

These are a few of the more popular Runescape Scams out there and as I mentioned earlier in this articles more and more people are searching to find out how to scam people on Runescape and the old saying that there is a sucker born every minute is relevant in Runescape as it is in real life. So be aware of things that are too good to be true and remember that there are no such things are Runescape item duplicators so don’t fall for the Runescape scams that involved people claiming that they can duplicate your Runescape items.

Runescape Hacks

Runescape Hacks

As in every new massive multi player game, bugs, cheats and hacks are only natural to be encountered. There is no game that is full proof especially during the first time that it has been released. Hacks that include gold and item hacks are among the initial problems that the initial versions of Runescape have had to deal with. However, thanks to the continuous development for the continued protection of the game and player account safekeeping, a large number of these hacks have been solved, although there are still some that are existing in the game. The best people to identify such hacks are the players themselves. However, it is still the duty of the game administrators of Runescape to solve them and see what hacks are being exploited today.

It is not easy to spot a hack in progress in Runescape. For one thing, the fast pace of skill level increase and that of being able to accumulate gold at a faster pace, especially for newbie players will certainly be something worth thinking about in the initial stages. To obtain such things in a short span of time of playing will be up for study, and the potential of hacks or exploits that are being utilized by players will surely be among the top reasons to be enumerated.

External software and third party programs such as bots, macro devices or developed ones to be used to test the mettle of the security measures and program flaws of Runescape should not be surprising. Injection fixes that may eventually pose problems for the game like system and client crashes are signs of such activities which should raise alarms towards administrators in catching the culprits at any given time. While most people who resort to this type of approach may be just after gaining advantage from other players, the harm it may cause should also be considered.

Items that become different from the ordinary as far as attributes and presentation in the game that is rare may be subject to criticism, especially if players are not seen online most of the time in Runescape by co players and game masters. Most Runescape online players are computer freaks and knowing much about technology is one reason why such methods of trying to cheat their way into the game are only natural. Besides, being the best in a game that offers a lot of issues raised for resolution is just too tempting to test the wits of most people who are adept in the programming methodology. Hackers thrive on making the lives of people miserable, so the more they would love to see the game administrators and co-players suffering from such mischievous acts instead of helping out the administrators in making Runescape a lot more bug and hack free.

RuneScape Scamming

Posted by: cool  //  Category: Runescape Scams

Every single RunScape player comes across someone who tries to scam them at one point during the game. We hear about these incidences all the time, we hear them in the RuneScape news, the forums, and even from other players in the game. There are just so many more players that would rather cheat than earn their own cash. Whether its item scamming or password scamming, they’re always after you items and money. The following article will analyze a few popular methods of scamming and how to avoid them. Also, Jagex’s efforts to help you in these situations will be mentioned.

1.) The first and probably one of the most common scams happens when trading. A scammer works like a magician, he tries to draw your attention away from what is really happening. A scammer’s dream is to be able to trick someone into paying much more gold for and item that isn’t worth a lot, or is very easy to get. An example of this scamming method: The scammer shows you he is selling a rune scimitar, while you are getting your money or items together, he switches it to a mithril scimitar and hopes you do not notice.

Jagex has added plenty to the trading screen in order to avoid scams like these. They added a double screen, enabling the player to see in writing what they are buying. Also, Jagex has added a warning when a player switches an item. To avoid these scams, as a player, make sure to always double check the deal before you accept the trade.

2.) Another popular scam is password scamming. Some scammers like to work a bit harder for their items and gold. They will use their charm to convince you to tell them your password. Or maybe they will offer to get you some amazing items, cheats, or other made up things. An example of this scamming method: The scammer will stand in the middle of a bank and say Jagex blocks your password! See mine is ******! Try yours! Then the scammer waits for people that try to say their password and writes it down. Later, he will then log into the account and is free to take what he pleases. Jagex has added the bank pin system to ensure, if this does happen to you, the items that you have in your bank will be safe in your bank. Players need to be aware that saying your password or giving someone your password is the biggest mistake you can make in the game.

3.) The last scam that will be mentioned in this article is another form of item scamming. Scammers will try to trick a player into dropping their items so that they can collect them afterwards. The more common method is to lure the player into the wilderness, kill them, and then take their items. But some scammers do not have a high enough level for that and try a different method. Scammers will tell you in private that if you drop your items and press Alt+F4, your items will be duplicated, when in reality that will just shut down your browser and you will most likely not be able to log back on in time to save the items. To avoid these kinds of scams, you must remember that you cannot trust anyone in RuneScape, even if they are very nice, they can always potentially turn their backs on you.

Helps players to avoid getting scammed in RuneScape. 3 Scamming methods are analyzed and hints are given to players on how they can avoid them.

Runescape Hacks

Posted by: cool  //  Category: Runescape Scams

Runescape hacks are one of the most searched for Runescape related topics. It seems that so many Runescape players are looking for the short cut to Runescape money and feel that getting their hands on some Runescape hacks is the best way to go about making their millions. So why is this the case? I can’t help but feel that with a game like Runescape where essentially those who can invest the most time excel makes it difficult for those that do not have the time to invest into the game yet want to still enjoy the game as a high level and wealthy player. This of course would lead many to start looking for shortcuts like Runescape hacks. Unfortunately more often thank not many of these players in search of Runescape hack downloads end up being hacked themselves.

Clan Index

Posted by: igsky2  //  Category: Runescape Scams
The following is a listing of clans, unions, corporations, and forum clubs. Hopefully it will be a way to keep track of all of RuneScape’s groups and associations in an organized fashion.

>It is probably worth noting that this isn’t a clan or union itself, merely a list of any groups who took the time to post. In no way does this participate in Runescape politics.

>The number in parentheses in front of a group’s name shows
== (Certification count, Level requirement, Number of members) ==
Certification count tells how often a group has been certified, which can sometimes tell you how organized it is.

>If you want more info on your group listed than the basics, you may post one post-worth of recruitment info. I’d suggest such statistics as quickfind, homeworld, and any additional requirements. I’ll then include the page number of this post on your Index listing.

>Feedback much appreciated

==> The Application Process <==

The application process centers around the following form:

Group Name:
Level requirement:
Current number of members:
Type of clan (see page 2 for list):
Group chat channel:
Name and page of other group member posting application:
Will two groupmembers repeat this in the last week of every month?

To have a group listed, TWO(2) people need to post the above application. The info contained in the two posted applications will need to be the same. Once you BOTH have posted the application, your group will be added to the Index.

For clans to stay listed thereafter, you will need to *repeat* this process between the 20th and the 30th of every month. For example, you would be able to recertify on any day from the 20th to the 30th of November. Failure to recertify by the end of each month will result in the group being removed from the list.

Certification does not mean that you are now an “official” group, it just indicates to readers that you are an organized one.

How to Keep your Account Safe 2

Posted by: igsky2  //  Category: Runescape Scams

I’m sure we have all heard people say they have been hacked at least once. Usually they are lying to get free items or gold. This does not mean that there are still not hackers out there. The best way to secure your account is never to give out your password to anyone. But, this is not always going to work. There are other ways of protecting your account even if someone happens upon your password.

One way would be to set recovery questions. This way, if someone changes your password, you can get it back. But by then, your account could be drained of all of its items. So this is not a good thing in that way. But, you can protect items in your bank by setting a bank PIN. You can do this by going to a banker and talking to them about it.

Ā

Once you get to the pin screen, you will see this:

Ā

Click Set a bank Pin and click yes I really want to set a bank pin. I will never forget it.

Ā

Then you can punch in any 4 number combo. Nevertheless, find a way so that you will remember it. Writing it down is not the best way, as someone can find the paper trail and steal it. If you have to use paper, then hide it somewhere where no one would think to look.

This would be an example of a safe account: A password that would be very hard to guess, recovery questions that only you would know, and a bank pin that’s hard to guess. Although it is rare for an account to be hacked by a random person, it can be. They will spend endless hours typing random passwords until they find one that’s correct.

Still want more protection? Try going to the Stronghold of Security. It will teach you some valuable info on how to keep your account safe, while earning a good reward at the same time! If you’re not sure where the Stronghold of Security is, it’s in the middle of Barbarian Village, where you mine rocks. It will say ā€œClimb-down Entranceā€. It can get a bit dangerous down there; you might want to bring food. But it’s worth it to know that your Dragon Dagger Poisoned (++) is safe from those very few who would steep so low as to rip off another player.

Ā

Remember to always report when you think someone is going to scam, or try to get another player’s password. I’ve been in many scams before, where I’ve lost over 90,000 gp in items. A couple of examples of scams are, “Hey dude, check this awesome glitch out! If you say red:yourpassword it will block it out and you will get 50k!” or “This is a trust game, trade me items and I will trade them back, whoever trades the most worth of the items wins!” for the trust game, they will wait till it’s a very valuable item and then log out.

Remember, everyone you meet in a game that says they are your friend may not be. If they have your password, they can cause you to lose your account or be banned permanently. Some players might just wish to find an account they can use to scam others, knowing it will be banned, in order to transfer their scammed items into their account. Then the person that owned the account would be out of luck since his or her account was the one that was caught scamming.

Runescape Scams

Posted by: Jenny  //  Category: Runescape Scams

Runescape scams are unfortunately rife within the Runescape community. I think the main reason for this is that you don’t even need any kind of account to play the game - you just create a character and play so there is just no comeback for the scammers out there. In this article I’ll talk about the various Runescape scams that are common, and how to avoid them.

Runescape Scams - Account / Password Scam

First of all, a piece of basic advice - never give your account and password to anybody! Below is a sample of the kind of thing you’ll see to try and scam you out of your account:

i quit runescape

ok i didnt know who to give my stuff to on runescape im an ex mod whos quiting my acc name is sirvs lvl 122 i have 23 party hats assorted colors full dragon 14 santa hats full guth, sara, and zammy,…and alot more plz email me ur acc name and pass and i will get back to u= )

You might see this as a comment on a blog, in a forum post, a Facebook group or whatever. This scam is simple because the scammer simply asks you for your account name and password. What do you think he’s going to do with it if you send it to him? He’s going to steal all your stuff!

Runescape Scams - The Fake Software Scam

There are a load of Runescape scams that take the form of third party software that is fake. There are actually a few genuine pieces of software for Runescape but many scammers cash in on this knowledge and knock out fake programs that look like the real ones and in fact do all sorts of nasty things such as:

  • Stealing your player name & password
  • Infecting your system with viruses
  • Infecting your system with Spyware

You might wonder why people would want to infect your system with viruses and spyware? Well, as far as viruses go, it’s just fun for them. Some people just get a kick out of hurting others.

However the spyware has another motive. There are companies that pay programmers money on a ā€˜per install’ basis if they embed code in their program and that code collects your user information. So the scammer gets paid, and the company gets your user information!
