Reward ideas:
>murmite head’s idea:a raw turkey you can wear on your head

>blackhand178’s idea:a pet turky or a turkey costume

>Xxx3 Killer’s idea:turkey costume

>spitfire555’s idea:a pilgrim hat or a turkey outfit

>kieranryan’s idea:king black turkey

>bazza2012’s (glass2012) ideas:a kalphite turkey and the staff of turkey it casts 2 new spells bones to turkey and monsters to turkey.

>Greatwolf67’s idea:a Turkey Caller that can be charged with raw bird meat, when called a turkey may appear like a chompy bird and you kill it for more turkey meats/legs/etc. this way you can get better food from the turkey meat and have to put some effort into it.

>Yorn23’s idea:hidden turkeys will give you pilgrim costumes and yaaaaay turkey legs

Some refreshing of your history:

On January 31st 1957 the Canadian parliment declared Thanksgiving to be celebrated on the second Monday in October to celebrate the bountiful harvest. Some attribute the holiday to the explorer Martin Forbisher. In 1578 he had a ceremony to give thanks for his survival on a unsuccessfull voyage to find a new trade route to the orient. The English loyalist that moved to Canada after the American Revolution also kept this traditional celebration of the harvest.
____________________________________________________________
The exact history of Thanksgiving is somewhat unknown but most believe the holiday started when the Pilgrims sailed aboard the Mayflower to the first American colonies. These Pilgrims were members of the ENGLISH Separatist Church seeking out new lands were they could escape religious persecution. Pilgrims also settled in other European country’s, as well as North America. The first Thanksgiving was a shared harvest between the Native American’s and the Pilgrims, without the Native’s skill mastery of the North American harvest the Pilgrims would not have made it through the winter of 1621. The harvest was a traditional English harvest celebrated between ENGLISH settlers and Native Americans.
____________________________________________________________
I also have information that it is celebrated in Japan as well as i know some-one from there that claims to celebrate it to show thanks.after all, that is what Thanksgiving is all about.____________________________________________________________
Even if you claim to not celebrate it im sure somwhere during fall (November) you hunt turkeys and feast even if you dont nessacarily call it Thanksgiving. It is also known as Harvest day at some places and it is thanksgiving no matter what you call it.

2008 thanksgiving event

What i am thankful for from jagex:
>RuneScape
>Updates
>Thanksgiving for once lolz
>Funorb
>All holiday events
>The forums
>The ability to meet new friends
>Mini games.
>The fairly new High Detail RuneScape.(<better then an update)
>Polls (especially gaurenteed content polls)
>Behind the Scenes. (tells you updates to come that month)

Best ideas of event/reward:
>suggested by greatwolf67>ok a turkey wrangler appears in lets say… the woods around like the frimmink area and wants us to catch his special smart turkeys, all the while we can kill other turkey that arent hidden.
————————————————————
>Also suggested by greatewolf67:when we find the Desquised turkeys we get Turkey Tokens to trade in for items.
————————————————————
>suggested by king leo116: You talk to some sort of NPC to start the event.First you must go and find a turkey. Bring it to him and he will begin prepareing a feast. Then you will give out invitations to different NPC. The ones who come will sit at a long table and the NPC I talk about later will ask you to sit and join them. For helping the NPC he/she will give you a pilgrem outfit “F2f’s get only this”, Also a stuffed turkey to disply in your house if you if your member of course.

My idea:
As jagex said part of the event will be just turkeys walking around but they also said somthing about a Turkeys in disguise (T.I.D.).

Event:I think it will be like the penguin hunting from larry. We go around looking for turkeys for maybe idk…Freaky Forester?….

Reward:Im not sure but maybe some decor for members in your house and for non members somepilgrim outfit and of course turkey.

Thanksgiving & Updates!

Posted by: igsky2  //  Category: Thanksgiving 2008 Event, thanksgiving event quest help

Hey there, Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate! We have updated our Holiday Events and Rares guide to include details on the new Thanksgiving event with all its turkey escapades. There have been plenty of updates recently and expect our While Guthix Sleeps quest guide soon.

With our usual speed we have released our Stealing Creation mini game guide. The guide explains in depth the gameplay involved with the activity based within the Wilderness, and along with the Item Database it explains the bonuses of the rewards and requirements to attain them.

In our Miscellaneous guide section you can now find our new Chaos Elemental Killing guide, sharing information on how to effectively combat the bizarre being. As well as including advised equipment and tactics the guide explains the tricky spells the monster will employ against its opponents. Thank you to Sarrakas and Yisliu for producing this in time for the related Zybez event.

We have also released a new guide to The Official RuneScape Website, offering explanations of how to use the features created by JaGex available over on RuneScape.com. The guide will hopefully satisfy many of the questions we receive about the forums, Knowledge base and the Grand Exchange Database.

Lastly for this news post we have updated all the animations for our Capes of Accomplishment guide to HD graphics. A special thanks to Rash, Sarrakas, and Villandra. Similar updates are to follow shortly, keep a look out.

runescape thanksgiving 2008

Gobble, gobble, gobble; it’s a turkey invasion! For the first time ever, turkeys are seeking refuge in RuneScape to escape their holiday blues. They may have underestimated their safety here, though. This Thanksgiving weekend, we give you the opportunity to get your own turkey dinner: through combat or your keen turkey-spotting skills.

Attackable turkeys are roaming around near the major cities of RuneScape on both members’ and free worlds. Kill one and you’ll get some tasty turkey meat, but you may also be lucky enough to unlock a new Thanksgiving emote.

If killing isn’t your style, there are other turkeys lurking around in clever disguises. Find one and you’ll get a clue to the location of another. If you get a bit stuck looking for the turkeys, speak to the Cook’s brother in Lumbridge Castle and he’ll give you a book to help you keep track. Find all ten and you’ll unlock the new Thanksgiving emote.

To sweeten the deal, we’ve added a new object to the game: the cornucopia. Being a ‘horn of plenty’, the cornucopia is useful for storing food and taking up fewer inventory spaces. You can store up to 14 Hitpoints’ worth of food inside, and one click will replenish your health by the amount you’ve stored. While the turkeys are visiting RuneScape, they’ll be readily available, but after the holiday you’ll have to look a bit harder for them when you kill certain birds.

This update will only last till Monday (GMT), so enjoy it while you can!

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Mod Nancy
RuneScape Developer

Summary:
  • Thanksgiving update will only last until Monday (GMT)
  • Fight turkeys near Falador, Lumbridge and Varrock
  • Find 10 turkeys in disguises around the free-to-play world
  • Unlock a new Thanksgiving emote
  • The cornucopia stores food and heals up to 14 Hitpoints
  • Cornucopia will be available after Thanksgiving as a drop from certain birds

Well I’m not American but it looks like fun, and I’m always up for a new emote

I’ll do it for the emote, wth is thanks giving

Celebration of the first meal the pilgrims had when they left england and came to america.. I think, sorry my us history isn’t that good.. I failed that class

Yeah it is the first. I saw a graph a few days ago showing what percentages of players played from major countries, and America was up over 40%, well over the other’s, so it is most definitely for them, and perhaps to get a few more players seeing as that’s their biggest audience. That is also why the game cards are only available in America.

The heal storage sounds a bit nifty. also will be dropping after the event as well. Nice lil training tool there.
Also another update about there so called most hardest quest ever has been posted. Looks to be called “While Guthix Sleeps

I’ve always liked the Englishness of Jagex, particularly in their quest references to irl culture, and I think this is a bit of a shame to start doing this, but I’ll do it anyway for the emote.
