Starting the quest

Go to the digsite using the glider (gnome) or walking from Varrock, and walk north-west to the rift. Talk to launa and accept the challenge she gives you. Then, use the rope on the rift and go down.

A short cutscene will play of ‘Tolna’ talking.

First Room:
You will now see a rage bar at the top of your screen. You need to fill this bar by to pass to the next room.

There are 4 creatures in this room using the correct weapon you can kill these creatures and fill your rage bar.

Get the correct weapon from the weapon case:

Goblin – Battleaxe
Rat – Mace
Unicorn – Sword
Bear – Spear
In this room you will deal a lot of damage (up to 2000).

When your anger bar completes a cutscene will play and you will be taken to the next room.

Second Room:
Walk round the room looking into all of the black holes killing the Fear Reapers as they appear.

After killing five fear reapers, another cutscene will play. Then, walk through the black hole to the west.

Third Room:
In this room, there are many fake monsters and one real monster in the group. When attacking the fake monsters they will dissapear, but after killing the right monster 5 times, the fake doors will disappear and you will be left with a cutscene. Walk through the real door.

Fouth Room:
Hopelessness creatures will crawl along attacking you agressivly using some type of blue balls which actually do nothing, althought with melee they can hit something. After killing them once, you will then need to kill them again two more times as they refill their health.

On killing them a cutscene will play. Then, cross the gap using the bridge of hope.

Last Room:
Watch the cutscene, then attack the three heads you should see in the room. After killing them, Tolna will appear out of nowhere.

After another cutscene talk to him and he will be teleported back out of the rift, talk to Tolna again to complete the quest.

1.. Bring: Watering can (filled), charged games necklace and a few lobsters or better in case Revenant attacks.

Follow the Spirit Girl into a house and you’ll feel as if something is pulling at your consciousness. Allow it to drag you away.
2. Talk to the Spirit Man. He doesn’t speak but answers in emotes. Watch as he does an emote and ‘reply’ by doing a corresponding emote (see table below). If you did the right emote, it should say “The spirit somehow seems pleased with your response and one of the rings around the little girl disappears.” Talk to him, he will do another emote, ‘reply’ back with an emote. Keep doing this until all the rings around the little girl are gone. Note that if you get the emote wrong, a ring will reappear around the little girl.

Spirit Man You
Angry Bow, Cheer, Shrug
Bow Angry, No, Shrug, Yes
Cheer Bow, Wave, Yes
Shrug Cheer, No, Wave, Yes
Wave Angry, Bow, Shrug

After all the rings around the little girl are gone, talk to her. She wants to meet you in the ruins in the western part of the Wilderness. Talk to her again and have ask her bring you back to the real world.

3. Now head to the ruins located north-west of the Bandit Camp. Now, get the items in the map shown below (The Limpwurt seed is in a crate) and talk to the Spirit Girl.

3A. She will bring you to the spirit world. Talk to her again, ask her what place is this and what you should. Ask her to send you back and use your empty bucket with the barrel of water just south along the walls of the building south of the girl.
3B. Talk to the girl again and enter the spirit world. A cutscene will commence and you will noticed that the barrel you just emptied is filled with water here. Talk to her again. Now go back to the real world and pick the mushrooms from the hollow log just west of you.
Head back to the spirit world and a cutscene will commence.

3C. Talk to the girl and ask her what you should do now. Go back to the real world and use your planks with the wardrobe (with 4 steel nails and a hammer in your inventory). Back to the spirit world and another cutscene will commence.
3D. Talk to her again and ask her what you should do now. Get back to the real world and use your rake on the flower patch (marked on your minimap), plant the Limpwurt seed and water it.
Don’t worry, it won’t be diseased. Water it often to make it grow faster. While you wait, make sure you have at least 15 inventory spaces left then use your Games necklace and teleport to the Wilderness Volcano and drop everything you collected in step 3 except the Watering can. Withdraw your Spirit scorpion pouch (x5), Spirit wolf pouch (x5) and Spirit wyrm pouch (x5) and return to the ruins. Once the Limpwurt plant is fully grown (DO NOT PICK UP THE PLANT UNTIL YOU’VE FINISHED THIS QUEST!), go back to the spirit world and a cutscene will commence.

4. Items needed: Spirit scorpion pouch (x5), Spirit wolf pouch (x5), Spirit wyrm pouch (x5), 1 Skull (obtainable), 5 Bones (obtainable).

Talk to the girl again, she’ll introduce herself as Summer. She’ll take you back to the farm (the quest startpoint). Once there, talk to her again. She’ll lead you to a trapdoor. Don’t go in just yet! Go through the portal to the real world.
There are Bones scattered around the Farm, collect 5 of them and head outside of the Farm to the east and pick up a Skull. Now head back to the spirit world and go in the trapdoor. Use the Skull and 5 Bones on the altar then talk to Summer.
4A – Disc 1. Go outside the Farm to the north-eastern part and you should see a disc with a spirit wolf picture on it.
Summon your Spirit wolf and position it on the disc. As the Spirit Beast approaches the disc, in about 2 squares (paces) near the disc, quickly dismiss your familiar! A cutscene will commence showing you another disc west of you.
4B – Disc 2. Summon a Desert wyrm and lure the beast to the disc, position it on the disc. As the beast is about 2 squares (paces) near the disc, quickly dismiss your familiar and a cutscene will commence showing you another disc located in the north-western corner of the Farm.
4C – Disc 3. Summon a Spirit scorpion and try to lure the beast to the third disc, once the beast is about 2 squares (paces) near the disc, quickly dismiss your familiar and a cutscene will commence. Talk to one of the spirits to finish the quest.

1. Speak to Edmond north of Ardougne castle to start the quest [map] and he will tell you to talk to his wife about making a Gasmask. Speak with Alrena insided the house and she will tell you that she needs dwellberries to make it. Go to McGrubor’s Wood (the entrance is in the northern end of the wood) [map] and squeeze through the railing there. The dwellberries can be found on the ground. Go back to Alrena and give her the dwellberries in return for a Gasmask.

2. Now, pick up the picture of Elena on the table inside the house, and a spade if you don’t have one. Be sure to have snape grass, chocolate, a pestle and mortar, a rope, the spade, and the buckets of water. Use the four buckets of water with the muddy patch in the garden, and then dig. You will find yourself in the sewers of Ardougne. Head southwest and use the rope on the grill in sewer pipe. Speak with Edmond again to ask him to help you pull the grill out. Now wear your Gasmask and then go back to the pipe and search it.

3. You’re now in West Ardougne. Find Jethick in the main square where you are now, and speak with him. Be sure to have the picture of Elena with you. He will ask you to give back a book to the Rehnison Family where Elena used to stay.

4. Head north from the main square to find the Rehnison house. They will tell you that Elena isn’t there, because she has been kidnapped and will tell you to talk to Milli, who is upstairs. She will tell you about a house without any windows in the south east part of West Ardounge with a cross on the door.

5. Go south to find the house which has guards outside the doors, and try open the west door. The mourner outside will tell you that you can’t enter the house, because it’s infected by the plague. Tell him that there is a kidnapped person there, and then ask to get in there anyway. He will refuse to let you in without a warrant from Bravek

6. Go back to the main square, and enter the house that is just north of it. Talk with the Clerk and tell him that you need to enter a plague house and that it’s urgent. Go upstairs, and speak to Bravek. Tell him that it’s really important. Bravek is unable to help you until he gets rid of his hangover so ask him about the cure and he will give you a scruffy note showing you how to make it. Use the pestle and mortar with the chocolate, then use it on the bucket of milk. Now add snape grass to make the Hangover cure. Speak to Bravek again, and you will give him the Hangover cure. Now, tell him that the mourners won’t listen to you and he will give you the warrant

7. Return to the mourner’s house and show the guard the warrant and then sneak past him. Go upstairs and search the barrels for a key. Go downstairs and use the key on the door to open Elena’s cell. Speak to Elena and she will thank you before leaving. Return to the sewers and speak to Edmond to complete the quest. To leave the sewers just climb the mud pile.

It takes an eclectically skilled set of adventurers to delve into Daemonheim, and having the right tool for the job at hand is essential. With this in mind, we’ve introduced some inventory management improvements for Dungeoneering, so sorting through your gear is simpler than ever. We’ve added a tool belt to be used in Dungeoneering. It comes ready-filled with every tool a dungeon delving hero needs, including a novite pickaxe and hatchet. You’ll be able to add better pickaxes and axes that you find, create or buy as you progress, and these will stay with you in all future dungeons. What’s more, if you find a pickaxe or hatchet that you don’t have the levels for yet, feel free to add it to your tool belt – it’ll act like the highest level equivalent you can use until you’ve attained the necessary level. Another new feature in the Dungeoneering tool belt is the ‘keys’ category. This holds any keys picked up by yourself or members of your party. As long as someone in your party’s picked up a key, all members of the party can access it. Finally, gathered resources obtained in dungeons – including ore, logs and raw food – will now stack, leaving you yet more space for your gear. All stacks, including coins, can now be split with a new “Drop-X” option while Dungeoneering.

This area has been rated as EXTREMELY HIGH-RISK and is considered by many as the MOST DANGEROUS location in RuneScape. You should never attempt to fight Nex with items you are not willing to risk losing, and while there, you should expect your death as a possibility at all times.
Nex Basic Facts (Bestiary Profile)
Combat Level: 1001 Nex Lifepoints: 30000 Maximum Hit: 369* Attack Style(s): Melee, Magic, Range, and Special
Recommended Levels

    99 Ranged
99 Attack
99 Strength
99 Constitution
99 Magic
95 Prayer
96 Summoning
92-96 Herblore (Overloads)
Chaotic crossbow
Chaotic rapier
Chaotic maul or rigour

Drops Summary
Nex and her followers have several unique drops that cannot be obtained by any other means. These include the Torva, Pernix, and Virtus Armour which provide a boost to the life points of the wearer, the Ancient Ceremonial Robes, and the Zaryte Bow.
Special Notes
Nex uses all three combat styles along with a variety of special attacks coming to a total of 16 different attacks. Nex is currently the most intelligent and dangerous boss in RuneScape.

*Note: This is ONLY for Nex’s standard attacks, Nex also has many special attacks which can hit over 850 life points!
Introduction

Please refer to the general God Wars guide for the basic mechanics of God Wars Dungeon. Nex is one of Zaros’ most powerful weapons of war and until recently lay frozen in the ancient prison behind the frozen door of the God Wars dungeon. To reach Nex players will need to collect the pieces of the frozen key which are dropped by the followers in each of the Gods’ stronghods. Once the key has been recreated it will allow access to the frozen door and the ancient prison where Nex awaits. Nex is considered the most dangerous monster in RuneScape having a variety of special attacks and a maximum hit of over 850. Those who can brave the danger and reach Nex however will find a variety of valuable rewards that cannot be found anywhere else in the game.
The Frozen Key

To reach Nex players must first locate the four pieces of the Frozen Key and re-assemble it. Each key fragment is dropped by the members of each Gods’ army in their stronghold. Therefore the following skills are required to assemble the key.

    70 Agility
70 Constitution
70 Ranged
70 Strength

Once you have collected all four of the key fragments they can be assembled into the complete key which can then be used to open the Frozen Door. The key however only has 5 charges after which it will crumble to dust. A key with 1-4 charges can however be recharged for a fee of (99 – [Smithing level]) * 400 + 10,000gp per charge by Bob in Lumbridge or in a POH with a workshop. Your smithing level has no effect on the recharge cost. It is recommended that you recharge the key when it reaches 2 charges so that in the event that you need to return to your grave you have a charge left to do so.
Killcount

Recommended Method

If you have the full set of Ancient Ceremonial Robes you can simply walk through the door into the bank next to Nex’s boss room without having to get the killcount. However, be aware that the robes do NOT provide any defensive bonuses and you are very likely to take a large amount of damage from the monsters in the killcount room as you run through. For this reason, you should bring armor with you, and only switch to your Ancient Ceremonial robes when at the door. Regardless of what armor you wear to the door, you should always pray magic. The mages in the room will always be aggressive, and can temporarily freeze you with ice spells.

If you do not own a set of robes, you will have to kill 40 of Zaros’ followers to be able to walk through the door.

Recommended Equipment
Mh Nex Kc Setup

Weapon: Chaotic rapier > Chaotic longsword > Abyssal whip > Saradomin godsword > Other godswords
Helmet: Verac’s helm > Helm of neiztiznot > Guthan’s helm or Torag’s helm
Amulet: Amulet of fury > Amulet of glory
Body: Karil’s leathertop > Armadyl chestplate > Black dragonhide top
Legs: Bandos tassets > Verac’s plateskirt > Other high defense platelegs
Shield: (1-handed weapons only) Blessed spirit shield+ > Dragonfire shield > Obsidian shield
Cape: Fire cape > Soul wars cape > Trimmed skillcape > Untrimmed skillcape
Boots: Dragon boots
Gloves: Culinaromancer’s gloves 10 > Culinaromancer’s gloves 9 > Culinaromancer’s gloves 8
Ring: Onyx (i) > Dragonstone (i) > Berserker (i)

The goal of this set-up is to provide a strong melee attack and at the same time provide both a strong melee and magic defense. High magic defense is the key to preventing the minions from being aggressive, so a top with a high magical defense is very important.

Recommended Inventory (With pack yak summoned)

    Frozen key (required)
Pack yak scroll or Imp-in-a-box (strongly recommended)
Trollheim teleport runes/tab (required)
One-click teleport
Enchanted excalibur
Steel titan pouch
300 Steel titan scrolls
1 Extreme set
1 Super antipoison
6 Prayer potions
10 Sharks

Getting the Killcount

Once you have entered the God Wars Dungeon proceed South from the entrance until you reach the Frozen Door. Use the frozen key to open the door and use your rope on the hole to climb down. At this point it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you bank your frozen key. In the event that you die while in the killcount room it is very unlikely that you will be able to return to loot your grave if you die with the key as you will need to go through the full process to obtain it again. The best way to bank the key is using the Pack Yak familiar’s winter storage scroll, if you do not have the summoning level for that you can bank it using an imp box (71 hunter required). Once you have done this dismiss the pack yak and summon a steel titan or the highest level titan you can.

When you are ready, drink a dose of your super/extreme set and turn on the protect from magic/defense boosting prayers then proceed through the hole into the Ancient Prison. There is a large concentration of Blood Reavers south-east of the entrance which can be used to get the 40 required killcount. Blood Reavers are the fastest monster in the prison to kill and should be used wherever possible. Once you have the 40 kills proceed through the next door into the bank. Here you can restock and prepare for the battle with Nex.
Equipment

Range is strongly recommended when fighting Nex due to her frequent use of teleports. You can use melee, but you will take much more damage and spend far more time running around than you would with ranged.

Recommended Equipment

    Weapon: Chaotic crossbow
Ammo: Ruby bolts(e) and Diamond bolts(e)
Helmet: Pernix coif > Armadyl helmet OR Void ranged helmet
Amulet: Amulet of fury > Amulet of glory
Body: Pernix body > Armadyl chestplate
Legs: Pernix chaps Armadyl chainskirt
Shield: Divine spirit shield > Elysian spirit shield > Eagle-eye kiteshield
Cape: Alerter and fire cape
Boots: Glaiven boots > Ranger boots
Gloves: Goliath gloves > Culinaromancer’s gloves 10
Ring: Onyx (i) > Archer (i) + Berserker (i)

Nexsetupunf

Recommended Inventory

    3 Overloads
1 Super antipoison
3 Saradomin brew
3 Special recover
4 Saradomin brew
Diamond bolts(e) – use your equipped ruby bolts until the final phase
Dragon claws, warrior helmet, fire cape
Unicorn and 50-60 scrolls.

Recommended Familiar Inventory

    23 Saradomin brews
7 Super restore in the last spaces

The Battle

The battle with Nex is conducted in five phases, each one triggered by Nex losing 1/5 of her Life points and one of the mages being killed. During all parts of the battle Nex will use melee, magic, and ranged attacks in addition to several phase specific attacks.

Important: You should avoid standing underneath Nex for longer periods of time during battle, as she will begin to inflict damage on you, drain your combat stats, and decrease your overload time length.

Phase 1: Smoke
For the first fifth of her life points Nex will attack with smoke spells and is Nex’s most dangerous phase. In addition Nex has several special attacks one of which can poison starting at 88 damage and another that disables prayers. A method of curing poison is essential for this phase. Nex will also use another attack during this phase that creates a toxic cloud that spreads to players 1 space away from infected players and reduces stats. When using this attack Nex will shout “Let the Virus Flow Through You”. This attack can be avoided by standing clear of affected players. Nex’s next special attack begins with Nex shouting “NO ESCAPE” after which Nex will teleport and fly down one of the paths of the arena. Any player caught in the path when the attack begins will not be able to escape and will be dealt heavy damage. The other special attack causes a player to be dragged toward Nex who will be stunned with their prayers disabled. Once Nex reaches 4/5 of her Lifepoints the mage Fumus can be killed ending this phase.

Begin the battle with one player inside of Nex’s attack range and all other players death dotted under Nex. The player will draw Nex’s first attack after which all other players will use their dragon claws specials on Nex dealing as much damage as possible. During this phase the best plan of attack is to stay as far away from Nex and other players as possible. Staying away from Nex prevents taking damage from melee attacks meaning that you will only need to deal with her magic, ranged, and special attacks. It is recommended that you use the protect from magic prayer along with rigour to fight Nex effectively. This means that you will only actually be taking damage from one of Nex’s attacks, range. For the specials, whenever possible try to stay out of the four paths in the center of the room and when you hear “NO ESCAPE” get clear of them as fast as you can. To deal with the virus attack, stay at least 1 space away from any other players to avoid being infected. Continue attacking Nex with range until you take out 1/5 of her life points and you can attack Fumus.

Phase 2: Shadow
For the next fifth of her life points Nex will attack with shadow spells which can reduce the targeted player’s attack level and are ranged based not magic based. She will also use two additional special attacks, the first turns the room dark and creates a number of shadow spots on the floor. If players do not move off of these spots within 1.5 seconds they will be dealt 300-800 damage. This attack can be identified by the room going dark and Nex’s shout of “Fear the Shadow”. Nex will also deal constant melee damage to any player standing in her melee range so using ranged is recommended for this phase. Once Nex reaches 3/5 of her life points the mage Umbra can be killed ending this phase.

During this phase the best plan of attack is again to stay clear of Nex to avoid melee attacks but this time pray against ranged. This is because Nex’s primary attack during this phase is a range based version of shadow barrage rather than the normal magical version. When you see black spots appear on the ground it is critical that you get clear of them immediately to avoid being hit for up to 800 life points damage. The room going dark can simply be ignored as it doesn’t interfere with the battle that much although you can set your screen brightness higher during this phase to help counter this if you want. Continue hitting Nex with melee attacks and drinking Saradomin brew as necessary to keep your life points above 800 at all times. Remember that when killing the mage Umbra that Nex will still be attacking you and that you must keep the protect from ranged prayer on instead of switching to protect from magic to kill Umbra.

Phase 3: Blood
For the next fifth of her life points Nex will attack with blood spells which will heal her. She will also periodically will summon Blood Reavers and create a blood siphon around her. The siphon will cause any damage to Nex to heal her instead while it is active and is identifed by Nex shouting “A Blood Siphon will Solve This”. Nex will also use a special attack that causes one player in the room to turn red and Nex will shout “I Demand a Blood Sacrifice”. This player must move quickly or they will use a blood barrage spell which will halve the prayer points of every player in the room and heal Nex significantly. Once Nex reaches 2/5 of her life points the mage Cruor can be killed ending this phase.

During this phase the best plan of attack is to turn on protect from magic and piety/turmoil and pile up around Nex to avoid her running around. Melee is best for this phase due to the fact that you need to brute force DPS counter the healing. When Nex creates a blood siphon it is very important to stop attacking Nex until the siphon wears off because while it is active any damage to Nex will heal her instead. The blood reavers are simply an annoyance and can be left alone or killed if they are inflicting significant damage. Continue meleeing Nex and stay together to avoid Nex running.

Phase 4: Ice
For the next fifth of her life points Nex will attack with ice spells which can freeze the targeted player in place and lower prayer points, however the protect from magic prayer will significantly reduce the effect of this attack. During this phase Nex will use a special attack that creates a wall of stalagmites around a player locking them in place with a shout of “Die Now, in a Prison of Ice”. One player can break a stalagmite allowing the trapped player to escape preventing them from taking damage. Otherwise the player will be hit for a large amount of damage. Nex also has an attack that creates walls of stalagmites near her and can hit for up to 800 life points which is cued by Nex’s shout of “Contain This!”. After Nex reaches the final fifth of her life points the mage Glaceis can be killed ending this phase.

During this phase the best plan of attack is to continue using protect from magic and rigour and ranging Nex. Try to stay in groups of two to three at all times. On occasion Nex will contain one person in stalagmites and having one or two other players nearby to help greatly reduces the amount of time it takes to break these down and escape before being hit hard. When you hear Nex shout “CONTAIN THIS” get away fast to avoid being hit by the stalagmites and taking up to 800 life points of damage. As you are using ranged the freezing effect of ice barrage won’t cause a significant problem. Continue ranging and keep your life points above 800 at all times.

Phase 5: Zaros
For the final fifth of her life points Nex will stop using any special attacks but instead continue attacking with melee, ranged, and magic attacks but at the same time alternating between the soul split and the deflect melee curse. When this phase begins she will shout “NOW THE POWER OF ZAROS!” and is healed for 6000 (1/5) of her lifepoints. During this phase Nex will also activate the turmoil curse and gain increased Attack, Strength, and Defense. When Nex is finally killed she will activate the wrath curse with significantly increased range dealing damage to anyone near her.

During this phase the best plan of attack is to continue praying protect from magic and piety/turmoil and begin attacking with melee. The moment Glaceis is dead have the entire team death dot on the spot where he was standing as this will prevent Nex from running around the room. Then simply continue hitting Nex with melee attacks until she is dead. Whenever Nex switches to the Deflect Melee curse switch to ranged until Nex switches. The moment Nex dies run. Nex will activate a wrath curse that will hit very hard if you don’t move away quickly enough to avoid it.

Preparing for the Next Round
At this point pick up your drop if you got one and remove any empty vials or other useless items from your inventory. Then fill any empty spaces with more Saradomin brews from your pack yak. If you do not feel that you have enough supplies left for another kill teleport out, otherwise head back to the center of the arena underneath Nex’s spawn point but do not use another dose of overload yet. Once you see Nex spawn she will spend several seconds summoning the four mages. The moment Nex spawns drink a dose of overload and begin drinking Saradomin brews to avoid being caught at low health. Turn of protect from magic and rigour and use both dragon claws special attacks, switch to rigour and begin again from phase 1.
