Fishing - Barbarian Fishing

Posted by: amber  //  Category: Runescape Skills

Getting Started
To start Fishing in the manner of the barbarians, you must have a Fishing level of 48, and Strength and Agility levels of 15.

Click here to find out how to start learning barbarian training methods.

Heavy Rod Fishing

One of the first tasks Otto Godblessed will set you is to use the rod that he keeps under his bed to catch one of the fish in the lake to the east of his hut. These fish are more difficult to catch than you might expect, as they leap about in the water and use their impressive vigour to fight against the pull of the fishing rod.

Because of the nature of these fish, you will find that you need more than just an angler’s cunning, and you will need use the weight of the rod and your reflexes to catch them. In this way, fishing with the heavy rod will earn experience in Fishing, Strength and Agility.

You will need to use bait to catch the fish in the lake, and you may use any of the following:

- Bait
- Feather
- Fish parts
- Roe
- Caviar

If you lose the heavy rod you need to catch these fish, you can find another by searching Otto’s bed. Fishing spots for the fish below can only be found in the lake next to Otto’s hut.

Fish Fishing Level
Required Other Levels Required Fishing Experience Strength & Agility
Experience

Leaping trout 48  15
15  50 5

Leaping salmon 58  30
30  70 6

Leaping sturgeon 70  45
45  80 7

Once you have caught one of these fish, you can use a knife on them to cut out the roe or caviar and to get fish parts. Fish parts can only be used as bait, but as it is stackable, it is a good way to carry on Fishing without having to worry about running out of bait. You will receive 10 Cooking experience for gutting a fish.

Roe and caviar can be used to enhance potions, which Otto will teach you to do. Click here to find out about barbarian potions.

Fishing Without a Harpoon

One of the more impressive feats barbarians have learnt is the ability to use their own arm as bait for larger fish, and then using that same arm to wrestle the fish out of the water. It takes a bold fisherman to thrash their arm about, waiting for a shark to come close…

You need a Fishing level of 55 and a Strength level of 35 to begin Fishing without a harpoon.

Farming – Livid Farm (Members)

Posted by: amber  //  Category: Runescape Skills

Sowing the seeds of livid

There’s nothing natural about the Livid Farm. These crops have been angered, teased and magically twisted into corrupted forms that only its mother, the Jade Vine, could love. Being such extreme vegetation, they need constant care and attention for them to grow; this is where you come in, as you help Pauline Polaris to manage the farm that threatens to grow out of control at any single moment.

The Livid Farm grows at a much faster rate than any other farm patch. It grows and needs harvesting every minute or so, and although Pauline will do this herself, her hands are full and she will welcome anyone who can help. Using your lunar spells, you can help with one or all of the tasks on the farm, gaining Magic and other skill XP as you do.

Location

Location of Livid Farm

The Livid Farm can be found in the north of Lunar Isle, north-east of the Moon Clan settlement.

The advised method of getting to the habitat is by using the Teleport to Lunar Isle spell in the lunar spellbook. This will teleport you to the quay at the south of the island, which is only a short run north to get to the farm itself.

If you do not have the runes to cast the Teleport to Lunar Isle spell, it is advised to travel from Rellekka, calling on the services of one Lokar Searunner: the pirate who happens to have named the livid. His plan is that they will always be remembered as ‘Lokar’s Infernal Vine of Incredible Death’, but few can take the time to call it that…

Requirements

To help Pauline with the Livid Farm, you must have completed Lunar Diplomacy and have all of the following skill level requirements:

  • Magic level 70
  • Agility level 60
  • Farming level 60
  • Crafting level 60
  • Construction level 50

Each task within the Livid Farm (and there are five common tasks in total) requires you to use a spell from your lunar spellbook. This means that you must have your lunar spellbook activated, but, uniquely to Livid Farm, you DO NOT have to have the Magic level required to cast each spell. Instead, you will receive NO Magic XP if you cast a spell in this way. You will, however, still gain XP in a related skill (see the descriptions of each task to find out what these XP rewards are):

  • Curing the livid (Cure Plant) – Magic level 66
  • Bunching the livid (String Jewellery) – Magic level 80
  • Fertilising the soil (Fertile Soil) – Magic level 83
  • Making fenceposts (Plank Make) – Magic level 86
  • Energising Pauline (Energy Transfer) – Magic level 91

Occasionally, a distraction will occur on the farm. Like the common activities of the farm, you will need to cast a lunar spell to receive a reward from them. Read the Distractions section to find out more about these:

  • Help, my ibis is sick (Monster Examine) – Magic level 66
  • When a suqah attacks… (Energy Transfer) – Magic level 91
  • Murky Pat’s revenge (Vengeance Other) – Magic level 93

Recommended Items

It is recommended that you bring runes to cast any lunar spells required in the Livid Farm. If you plan to cast lunar spells that you do not have the Magic level to cast, you will still need to bring the required runes.

No other items – including farming items – are required to use the Livid Farm.

Farming at the Livid Farm

Healing a livid plant

It is recommended that you talk to Pauline Polaris in the Livid Farm to get a more complete sense of what you can achieve here.

Work at the Livid Farm is prodigiously fast. From one minute to another, Pauline will plant a seed, fertilise it, cure the resulting growth, bunch the harvested shoots and put them on a wagon ready for transport. The speed takes its toll on Pauline, and she welcomes anyone who can contribute to these stages and give her a breather.

Each stage of the farming process requires a lunar spell. To rid a livid of disease, for example, it needs to be targeted with the Cure Plant spell. The reason for this is that the livid are so dangerous that manually treating or touching the plants could lead to personal injury. You can cast a spell on a suitable location by either opening your lunar spellbook and casting it conventionally, or simply left-clicking on the location.

Since farming at the Livid Farm is so fast-paced, you will find that tasks completed moments ago are soon ready to be completed again. So, if you have cured all plants in the farm, you need only wait a few moments for more diseased livid to rise up.

As mentioned previously, you do not need the Magic level to cast each spell on the Livid Farm. You will still need the required runes, however. Any spell cast without the required Magic level will earn you XP in Farming, Agility, Crafting or Construction, depending on the task, and will give you half the produce points. Produce points are received by completing any task in the farm, and can be used to buy lunar spells from Pauline Polaris.

Fertilising the livid patches:

Pauline needs you to fertilise the barren Lunar Isle soil. To find a patch that requires fertilising, look for completely empty patches; anything with a healthy or unhealthy livid will not require your aid.

Spell Level
required
Runes required Experience
Fertile soil 83 Astral rune x 3 Earth rune x 15 Nature rune x 2 87 Magic XP
+91.8 Farming XP

Fertilising one patch with the Fertile Soil spell gets you 20 produce points. Casting the spell without the required Magic level gets you 10 produce points.

Curing the livid:

Some of the livid will look haggard and ill. Cast Cure Plant on these plants and you will be asked to tune your spell to a specific strain of livid. This takes the form of an interface that opens in the sidebar, showing four different strains of the livid; simply click the one that matches the plant you aim to cure, and watch as it returns to health!

Spell Level
required
Runes required Experience
Cure plant 66 Astral rune x 1 Earth rune x 8 60 Magic XP
+ 91.8 Farming XP

Curing livid with the Cure Plant spell gets you 20 produce points.

Bunching the livid:

Once the livid have been harvested by Pauline, they need to be taken from their pile of produce to be bunched. Taking from the produce pile puts up to 10 livid in your inventory. Casting the String Jewellery spell will convert 5 livid into a bunch, and you can then manually place the bunched livid into the trade wagon. You will only get the XP once the livid has been placed into the wagon.

Spell Level
required
Runes required Experience
String Jewellery 80 Astral rune x 2 Earth rune x 10 Water rune x 5 83 Magic XP
+ 270 Crafting XP

Bunching five livid gets you 120 produce points. Casting the spell without the required Magic level gets you 60 produce points.

Fixing fence posts:

Fences last only a few moments on the Livid Farm, as a combination of suqah attacks and the sea breeze wears them away into nothingness. To keep the suqah out (and the livid in) you are required to gather lunar lumber from a pile in the north-east of the farm and then cast Plank Make to convert them into fenceposts. These can be used on damaged sections of the fence for a reward of Construction and Magic XP.

Spell Level
required
Runes required Experience
Plank make 86 Astral rune x 2 Earth rune x 15 Nature rune x 1 90 Magic XP
+ 54.6 Construction XP

Fixing fenceposts gets you 20 Produce Points. Casting the spell without the required Magic level gets you 10 produce points.

Energising Pauline:

Pauline works harder than almost anyone else on RuneScape, and that effort is bound to take its toll. If you see Pauline flagging, cast Energy Transfer on her and you will given a choice of phrases, some of which are enthusing and others are just insulting! Choose an enthusing phrase to boost Pauline and your Magic and Agility levels (with a small reduction to your run energy levels).

Spell Level
required
Runes required Experience
Energy transfer 91 Astral rune x 3 Law rune x 2 Nature rune x 1 100 Magic XP
+ 169.7 Agility XP

Energising Pauline gets you 100 Produce Points. Casting the spell without the required Magic level gets you 50 produce points.

Distractions

Talk to anyone who runs a farm or ranch and they will tell you that the unexpected occurs, and does so regularly. The Livid Farm is no different, and it is prone to occasional visits from suqah, pirates and sick familiars! You should treat these in the same way as other actions on the Livid Farm, since they each require a lunar spell to be cast on them. The distractions will happen randomly and occasionally, so you cannot guarantee that they will turn up at any point, and they will always provide you with a rune reward.

Help, my ibis is sick:

There must be something in the air on Lunar Isle, as everything has a tendency to get sick or tired with alarming regularity. To help this ibis to recover, you will need to examine it with the Monster Examine spell, and then talk to Meteora to tell her what is wrong with it.

Spell Level
required
Runes required Experience
Monster examine 66 Astral rune x 1 Cosmic rune x 1 Mind rune x 1 61 Magic XP

Reward: Gives 1 astral rune, 10 water runes, 16 earth runes, 1 cosmic rune and 1 mind rune.

When a suqah attacks…

The suqah and the Moon Clan have an uneasy acceptance of each other, thanks largely to the suqah’s fear of the magical clanspeople and the Moon Clan’s determination to stay peaceful. The suqah, however, still get hungry, and this leads them to raids on food stores and even the Livid Farm! To deter any suqah, use the Energy Transfer spell on Pauline, who will magic the suqah away. This costs half of your special attack bar.

Spell Level
required
Runes required Experience
Energy transfer 91 Astral rune x 3 Law rune x 2 Nature rune x 1 100 Magic XP

Reward: Gives 3 astral runes, 10 water runes, 16 earth runes, 2 law runes and 1 nature rune.

Murky Pat’s Revenge

Murky Pat’s feeling unloved for various reasons, and is looking to improve matters in a truly pirate manner: by getting revenge! Use Vengeance Other to target the person who is giving Pat grief, but make sure you pick the correct dialogue option from the ones he gives you.

Spell Level
required
Runes required Experience
Vengeance other 93 Astral rune x 3 Earth rune x 10 Death rune x 2 108 Magic XP

Reward: Gives 3 astral runes, 15 water runes, 20 earth runes and 2 death runes.

Rewards

Magic and skill XP are not the only rewards you can receive from the farm. With every completed action (not including the distractions), you will receive produce points that are tracked by Pauline (talk to her and you will be able to view your produce points at any time). These points can unlock new lunar spells in your lunar spellbook, to be used outside of the Livid Farm. Your produce points are not lost or spent when you unlock a spell.

Once you have unlocked the last spell, Vengeance Group, the cost of that spell is deducted from your produce points and you are free to spend the rest on wishes. These are skill abilities that last for a short period of time.

You will also gain a one-off bonus reward if you talk to Pauline having earned clothing from the Herblore Habitat…

Brimhaven (Members)

Posted by: runescape  //  Category: Beginners' Guide

Brimhaven is a scurvy port full of sea dogs and scabrous wretches. The pirates and thieves that make up most of the population are quite friendly, though, possibly because they’ve got a good supply of Karamja Rum.

The settlement is quite popular among those wanting to visit the depths of the TzHaar city, or adventurers looking to explore the jungles of Karamja.

Location

Location of Brimhaven

Brimhaven is quite an isolated port, given that it lies on Karamja which is a large island separated from the main continents by broad seas and oceans.

Close by, to the east, beneath the volcano, is the TzHaar city, where many would-be heroes go to test their mettle against the mighty TzTok-Jad, or to earn TokKul to purchase some high quality TzHaar weapons and armour.

North-west, across the seas, lies the city of East Ardougne, which you can travel to and from by boat.

Points of Interest

Brimhaven’s points of interest

There aren’t terribly many shops in Brimhaven, but they do have an amulet merchant, Davon, who will happily deal in amulets in the shadowy jungle, south of the town.

If you’re here to learn the secrets of Karamja’s jungles, or to train your Agility, then Brimhaven is most certainly the first place you want to visit.

North and north-east of the town are tree patches, where you can grow spirit and fruit trees.

In the east of the settlement is the entrance to the Brimhaven Agility Arena, watched over by its ‘owner’, Cap’n Izzy No-Beard (and his parrot).

Then again, there’s much to be said for joining the salty curs and vagabonds in the bars and trying a wee tipple of that infamous Karamja brew… Arr!

Personalities

Kangai Mau
Kangai Mau is one of the very few natives of Karamja that ventures into the town of Brimhaven. Normally a private people, the natives of Karamja have sent Kangai Mau to the town to look for a lost Totem, and he cannot return to them empty-handed.

Cap’n Izzy No-Beard
A more cunnin’ pirate with a parrot you’ll be hard-pressed to find outside of Mos Le’Harmless, but Cap’n Izzy is also the owner and proprietor of the Brimhaven Agility Arena, and there’s booty to be had, if that’s your property.
Kangai Mau can be found in the Shrimp and Parrot.   Cap’n Izzy No-Beard can be found at the entrance to the Agility Arena in the north-east of the town.
Lubufu
It’s a rare man that’s as grumpy as Lubufu, and a rarer man still that knows the secret to catching Karambwan, the octopus delicacy found in only a few spots around Karamja. Lubufu is both grumpy and knows the secret to catching Karambwan.

Alfonse the Waiter
Alfonse is a bit of an odd chap to come across in Brimhaven, as his manners are impeccable and he’s never seen drinking anything more powerful than water. He takes care of what might be called ‘customers’ at the Shrimp and Parrot, sole purveyor of Karambwan in Brimhaven.
Lubufu can be found yelling at people who disturb him on the beach south of town.   Alfonse can be found in the Shrimp and Parrot.
Quests

The following quest can be started in Brimhaven:

  • Tribal Totem (Members)
Jungle Dangers

Monkey (Level 3)
Monkeys are common across Karamja and are extremely simple for anyone to dispatch without any difficulty. They are quick and agile, though, and under some circumstances you’ll need a Ranged weapon or spell to have a chance of killing them.

Snake (Level 5)
Snakes are drawn to the warmth and moisture of jungles, so it’s no surprise that Brimhaven has a good few thereabouts. The snakes here are no real threat, and are not poisonous, so they make easy fodder for young adventurers.
Monkeys can be found in the jungle around the town.   Snakes can be found in the jungle around the town.
Thief (Level 16)
Thieves are going to be common in any town so overrun by pirates and other undesirable ‘wholesale plunder redistributors’. They are unlikely to go for your pockets once you show them ‘a thing or two’, though, as they’re essentially cowards.

Pirate Guard (Level 19)
When successful pirates retire – and any pirate that gets to retire is obviously very successful – they gather up their loot and their plunder and set up a nice home. Of course, other less retired pirates might then look to get to their booty, so pirate guards become quite necessary.
Thieves can be found wandering the streets of Brimhaven.   The Pirate Guard can be found by the well in the north-east of town.
Pirate (Level 23)
Avast! Pirates be the commonest of scoundrels and seadogs ye be findin’ in Brimhaven, and a surly bunch o’ privateers they are, too. Most Wholesale Plunder Merchants in Brimhaven be there to be drinkin’ grog, but some few – the daftest keelhaul-able of them – be there to drink Karamjan rum (which be better than Braindeath, but still dangerous to yer memory, ye see).

Guard Dog (Level 44)
Guard dogs, like pirate guards, are a bit odd in Brimhaven, but you can only assume that the non-pirate inhabitants have to protect their property somehow. Given how vicious and well-trained these dogs are, they’re sure to deter the most determined raiders.
Pirates be found wherever there be grog in Brimhaven.   Guard dogs can be found in an enclosed pen in the middle of town.
Jungle Spider (Level 44)
The native creatures of Karamja are at least as dangerous as the piratical inhabitants of the town, and jungle spiders are an excellent example of this. They won’t crunch under your boot, and they won’t flee in terror from a flame, but they will try to sink their poisonous fangs into you and carry you away for a later snack.
Jungle spiders can be found in the jungles around the town.
Miscellaneous

  • Once you’ve completed the Shilo Village quest, you will be able to use the cart service located north of the town to travel quickly and comfortably between Brimhaven and Shilo Village.
  • Near the cart, while you’re in the area, you might like to work on your Farming by making the most of the fruit tree patch.
  • The pirate’s bar in the south of town is a good place to pick up items: there are full and empty beer glasses and a bronze hatchet.
  • The entrance to Brimhaven Dungeon (there be dragons! Metal dragons!) lies southwest of town.
  • Near the entrance to the Dungeon are some pineapple plants, which are excellent for making supercompost, or a variety of exotic foods and drinks.
  • North of town is a sizeable gold mine, and there is another near the entrance to the Brimhaven Dungeon.

Saradomin’s Encampment

Posted by: amber  //  Category: monster hunting, runescape hunting guide

Introduction
Please refer to the general God Wars guide for the basic mechanics of God Wars Dungeon. The Leader of Saradomin’s force, Commander Zilyana, although the second lowest levelled of the God Wars bosses and the smallest physically, is widely considered by players to be the deadliest. Her max hit is the lowest of any of the bosses as well, a mere 310 with either melee or magic. However, her attacks are much faster than the other bosses and she can “charge” up her attacks so that several can hit at once. Her attacks are also very accurate. Prized drops from Commander Zilyana and her minions include Saradomin’s Godsword hilt, Godsword shards, and the Saradomin Sword. To enter Saradomin’s Encampment you will need Level 70 Agility and two pieces of rope (only the first time you go, so it is recommended to make a trip specifically to place these). There are many items which will render Saradomin’s minions outside the boss room unaggressive: these include Saradomin blessed Treasure Trails armour, a Saradomin god cape, holy symbol, and many others. If using the Trollheim teleport to arrive at the dungeon, use this strategy to keep a full inventory: Teleport to Trollheim, drop 2 food items, teleport back to a bank, get 2 more of the items dropped, and then teleport back to Trollheim. You should now have a full inventory.

Strategy
A player cannot stand before either Zilyana’s melee and magic. Since the magic is long-ranged, there is no way to escape it without praying protection from it, and the only way to avoid melee while praying magic is to be outside of melee range. The method to use is made clear once you consider that Zilyana is tiny physically compared to the other monstrous bosses, and that the Saradomin boss room is larger than the others. The best way to fight is by ranging. Using melee is risky and you will take much more damage, especially in smaller teams. Your team should spread out as much as they can and range Zilyana. If she comes toward you trying to melee, run away in the opposite direction, and if she continues to follow, run around, hugging the walls. You may have to run around the room several times. If possible, take a few shots at each corner, but don’t let her catch up to you! You MUST bring a form of energy restoration: your two choices are Purple Sweets from Treasure Trails, or the much better choice of using a Spirit Terrorbird familiar with scrolls. Sweets can get very expensive: it’s very possible to chew through over a hundred per trip. If you fight Zilyana properly, you should only take damage from ranged, so you should try to emphasize that defence stat, while keeping a good ranged attack bonus. After killing Zilyana, every minion will focus on one player. This player should run to the very south wall, causing Bree to refocus on another player, who should pray range. Meanwhile, the rest of the team should run to the North Wall, and kill Bree, then Starlight, and finally Growler.

You will need a Zamorak and Saradomin item for killcount. The best spot to get killcount is by killing any Saradomin follower, such as Mages, Warriors, Priests, etc in the main area near the entrance. Many of these will be in combat, making them easy to kill without taking damage or needing to pray. You can also get killcount in the Encampment, but there are fewer monsters available.

Recommended Levels:

80 ranged
75+ defence
52 summoning
60 prayer (70 strongly recommended)
70 agility (required)
Keep in mind that these are suggested minimum levels. You can kill Commander Zilyana with lower levels, but you will perform much better with higher levels, and it is also much easier to find a group with higher stats. In a larger group, you can get away with lower stats. Having 70 prayer to bless teammates graves, as well as for piety, is highly recommended. Having 52 summoning for a spirit terrorbird to carry extra supplies and to recover run energy is virtually mandatory, without one you will incur large expenses on Purple Sweets. Your familiar will follow you to the other side of the rope. Zilyana’s melee attacks are very damaging, and overall, you can get more kills ranging with less risk. Therefore, ranging Zilyana is recommended. Maging is ineffective against all God Wars Dungeon bosses. A Zamorak Godsword’s special is very helpful in order to freeze Zilyana temporarily.

Equipment
Recommended equipment:
Note: Items are listed from the best to the worst

Weapon: Rune Crossbow
Helmet: Verac’s Helm > Torag’s Helm
Amulet: Fury > Glory > Zamorak/Saradomin Stole* >Holy/Unholy Symbol*
Body: Armadyl Chestplate > Zamorak/Saradomin Blessed Dragonhide*
Legs:Verac’s Plateskirt > Torag’s Platelegs
Shield: Dragonfire Shield > Full Crystal Shield > Dragon Sq Shield
Cape: Ava’s accumulator
Boots: Ranger > Snakeskin
Gloves: Barrows Gloves > God Blessed Bracers*

*Note: Starred items are Zamorak/Saradomin items that will protect you from his minions outside the boss room. Having one of each is NECESSARY.

Recommended Inventory
Terrorbird Scrolls(at least 100)
Teleport
11 Super Restores
13 Saradomin Brews
Two Ranging Potions

Summon a Terrorbird before leaving. Your terrorbird should hold:

Three Terrorbird Pouches
Four Super Restores
Five Saradomin Brews

Solo
Soloing Saradomin has both drawbacks and benefits over teams. It’s much easier to start a trip, and you get to keep all your drops yourself, although your trips are much shorter, and usually more expensive. There are also higher requirements, as well as being more dangerous as you cannot rely upon your team to bless your grave.

90 ranged
90 defence
52 summoning
70 prayer
70 agility (required)
The strategy is somewhat similar to being in a team, but certain aspects are different. Since Zilyana will ALWAYS be focused on you, you must be constantly running: she cannot be allowed to melee you! You will still range her while praying magic. As soon as you enter, start running around the edges of the room. At each corner, you should be able to take one or two shots. Using the accurate style is recommended, as the timing is better and you get more accuracy on your few available shots. You should still use enchanted diamond bolts. A Zamorak Godsword’s special is still very helpful. The recommended equipment is the same.

Lootshare
While fighting as a team in this multicombat area, use the LootShare chat system to ensure honest reporting of monster drops. Not only will this system report your team’s drops for everybody within the chat (with at least the minimum set rank), but will also increase each individual’s chances of getting drops, as opposed to drops being limited to only one or a few individuals who consistently do the most damage.

To have a chance at the drops from the LootShare system, you must be within 16 squares of the killed monster, also make sure that your rank is set high enough to have a chance for team drops if you are in a team using LootShare.

If the Clan Chat owner has the Coinshare option enabled, all those entitled to recieve lootshare drops will have it activated. Coinshare is only applied to certain drops. The drop will be converted to coins and all lootshare members will receive an equal split if Commander Zilyana or any of her minions drop any of these items:

Godsword shard 1, 2, or 3
Saradomin Sword
Saradomin Hilt
Dragon Med Helm
Dragon Spear
Shield Left Half (dragon)
Please refer to our New Members P2P guide for a listing of all worlds the Lootshare system is enabled upon. Note that worlds can change frequently and Jagex’s world select page should be your point of reference for Lootshare worlds.

Conclusion
Both in a team and alone, you can usually obtain more kills per trip than Armadyl, the other boss requiring ranging, because if done properly you will suffer much less damage. That said, killing Zilyana is different than most other Runescape bosses, and is often considered more difficult to learn. The drops from Saradomin Godwars are also highly valued by players. This boss has the highest requirements to team out of all God Wars bosses, but can be performed solo at lower levels than Armadyl. Kill count will usually take longer than the other bosses. Please note that this is an introduction for newcomers: this is just one of the multitude of strategies applicable in God Wars. Good Luck!

***** Level 50 At this level Swordfish may be caught and sold for 575 when cooked and 575 when raw. Tuna, however, is caught with them. Locations include Catherby, Fishing Guild, or Jatizso(completion of The Fremennik Trials required) Also the higher your agility the more chance you have of catching two swordfish at a time.
***** Level 62 Monkfish are found at the Piscatoris Fishing Colony. They tend to be caught faster than sharks, even at high levels, and sell for around 598 coins each when raw, and about 653 coins when cooked. In an hour, 250-320 monkfish are caught, depending on Fishing level. See this monkfish analysis for a breakdown of efficiency. Swan Song completed
***** Level 65 At this level Raw karambwan may be fished, which are worth 640 coins each. Keep in mind that the Karambwan will sometimes steal the bait from the vessel. If this happens often, it lowers profit. Tai Bwo Wannai Trio completed
***** Level 76 At this level sharks may be fished. Sharks are caught fairly slowly even at high levels, so it is advisable not to fish them with a fishing level lower than about 80. Raw sharks sell for around 1,477 coins each, and cooked sharks fetch for about 1,640 coins each. At 95+ Fishing 1,000 sharks are caught in 7 hours or less; on average, only about 150 sharks can be caught in an hour, even with 99 fishing. It is still arguable that this is the best conventional method of making money by fishing except possibly Rocktail fishing. Also the higher your agility the more chance you have of catching two sharks at a time. 80 Cooking (optional)
***** Level 81+ The Fishing Trawler minigame provides Manta rays and/or sea turtles from level 81 if the boat lasts 10 minutes without sinking.  Unlike other fish, cooked sea turtles and manta rays fetch higher prices than their raw counterparts. Cooked manta rays can sell for about 3,387 coins each while cooked sea turtles sell for about 3,029 coins. If the boat doesn’t sink, normally approximately 20 manta rays are acquired, leading to 60,000gp every 10 minutes. This is only if the player is with a good team, the boat not sinking. 91 cooking (optional)
*****150k-200k/hr Level 85 The Living Rock Caverns is an area in the dwarven mines where high level fishers and miners can train their skills. At level 85, you are able to catch a new type of fish - Cavefish. To catch this fish, you will need normal fishing bait and good armour to defend yourself from aggressive high-level rock creatures. A raw cavefish has a market price of 1478 gold pieces and a cooked cavefish sells for 1577 gold pieces. You can gain 40,000-50,000 experience per hour fishing Cavefish and 150,000-200,000 cash. 88 Cooking (optional)
*****250k/hr Level 90 Just like Cavefish, you can catch another high levelled fish in the Living Rock Caverns - Rocktail. To catch this fish, you will need some bait called Living Minerals. The market price of living minerals is currently 265gp (1 April 2010). Again, you will need some good armour to defend yourself from the aggressive living rock creatures. The market price for raw rocktail is 2547gp and the price for cooked rocktail is 2517gp. This is much faster experience per hour than lobsters and monkfish, reaching to 60,000 xp/h maximum. You are able to make over 250,000 gold pieces per hour using this method. 93 Cooking (optional)

Runescape Area Guides -Cities and Towns -Nardah (Members)

Posted by: cow  //  Category: Runescape Guide

Nardah lies in the far east of the Kharidian Desert and is not an easy place to reach unharmed. It is advised that you take a lot of water with you, as well as wearing a full set of desert robes.
For more information about braving the desert, see the Terrain Survival Guide.

Until you complete the Spirits of the Elid quest, the only water available in Nardah is from Ali the Carter, whose prices are quite extreme.

Introduction

Nardah is suffering a drought Nardah is a small desert town on the east bank of the Elid River. For the last few months they have been plagued, though, by a lack of water, and an inability to bring any water into the town themselves. Luckily for the inhabitants, this does not seem to extend to Ali the Carter, who brings water to the town from Pollnivneach.

Because of the dangers of the parched desert and the hardy beasts that lurk among the dunes there are few visitors to Nardah. This is a shame because some of the finest iced chocolates in all of RuneScape can be found there.

Location

Map of Nardah Nardah lies perfectly south-east of Pollnivneach across the Elid River, but without travelling far north or south along the river, there is no convenient bridge. Ali Morrisane, of course, has thought to bring his flying carpet enterprise here, so a small fee will take travellers between the towns.

South-west of Nardah is the Agility Pyramid, where Simon Templeton waits for agile adventurers to retrieve artifacts from the top of this ancient structure.

Further south-west still are the twin cities of Menaphos and Sophanem.

Points of Interest

Nardah’s points of interest Though well out of the way by RuneScape standards, Nardah has a great deal to offer the casual adventurer. Rokuh sells delighful chocolate ices, which he keeps cool with some remarkable ice magic gleaned from a foreigner.

Zahur will clean your herbs for you if your Herblore level is not high enough (though she does charge a fee), and Seddu sells an excellent range of rune and dragonhide armours.

At both the north and south end of town are clay ovens, which you can use to cook any food you have with you.

North of the town is a broad stretch of sand of great interest to Hunters.

To the north-west of town are a handful of desert goats, which can be used to make some fairly useful potions.

Personalities

Awusah the MayorAwusah has ruled Nardah for quite some time, but he still hasn’t figured out how to get the most out of the bureaucrats of Menaphos. He does his best, though, and no one seems to mind that he still has not figured out how to solve the water problem. Ghaslor the ElderGhaslor is the oldest member of the town by quite a few years, so it’s only natural that he is also the town’s archivist. He keeps a ready memory filled with the tales and history of Nardah, so he’s almost certain to be able to help out with most problems.
Awusah can be found in his house in the east of the town. Ghaslor can be found in his house in the north-east of the town.
Shiratti the CustodianAs the curator of the town’s Temple of Elidinis, and in the absence of a priestess, Shiratti is responsible for maintaining the town’s religious attitudes. She has been waiting for a long time for Menaphos to send the town a new priestess, but it looks like she may have a longer wait still to come. RokuhRokuh is the chocolate ice seller in Nardah, and he is one of the most inspired salesmen in RuneScape (after Ali Morrisane, naturally). Having been shown some rudimentary ice magic, he has used it to preserve his treats in the heat of the desert. Since the drought began, business has never been better.
Shiratti can be found in the temple in the north of town. Rokuh can be found in the marketplace.
Ali the WiseAli the Wise is a curious figure in the desert: his skin is paler than you might expect, and he knows a curious amount about the history of not only the desert, but also of the secret races whose existence is a mystery. If you need some information about these things, though, he’s the man to talk to.
Ali the Wise spends his time in his house in the north of the town.

Quests

The following quest can be started in Nardah:

Spirits of the Elid (Members)
The Curse of Arrav (Members)

Creatures of the Desert

Jackal (Level 21)Jackals are cunning animals with a powerful pack mentality. You will almost never find a jackal alone, as their method of hunting is based on working together. Jackals are not powerful enemies, but if you have just crossed the desert without much water… Poltenip, Radat and Tarik (Level 21)These are the mayor’s three guards, and they take their work seriously. In a town with little for young men to do, they are in positions of respect and are unlikely to do anything to change this.
Jackals can be found north and west of town. Poltenip, Radat and Tarik can be found at the mayor’s house.
Goat (Level 23/33)Apparently the most dangerous creatures in Nardah, the goats that wander about are fairly tame creatures, most notable for the properties of their horns when made into a potion.
Goats can be found just north-west of Nardah.

Miscellaneous

If you’ve somehow found yourself shoeless in the middle of the desert, head to the mayor’s house for a free pair.

If you have a Monkeyspeak Amulet, don’t be tempted to feed the monkey at the flying carpet hire: he’s just greedy and ungrateful.

Once you complete the Spirits of the Elid quest, the fountain in town will run with water again, so you’ll be able to refill waterskins, making trips to the Agility Pyramid much more enjoyable (not to mention safer).

Until you have completed Contact!, Nardah has the only bank south of the Shantay Pass, which is another point in its favour as a good starting point for wandering the desert.

Once you have completed the Spirits of the Elid quest, you will be able to pray in the temple. This altar is particularly good for the desert, as it comes with a decent Hitpoint boost.

The Curse of Arrav

Posted by: cow  //  Category: runescape news

In your adventures you may have heard of an unusual gathering in the north - a gathering of powerful and dangerous creatures called the Mahjarrat. Ali the Wise has received news from one of his contacts of a tunnel underneath the area where the Mahjarrat are supposedly gathering. It’s not a natural cave, either: someone deliberately made it. But who? What connection did they have to the Mahjarrat now gathering above? Have they left any clues behind? Some exploring may be in order!

This quest is a continuation of the Mysteries of the Mahjarrat quest series. It’s also a sequel to a previous quest I wrote - Defender of Varrock. I’m glad that I got to expand on some of the themes I started in the previous Arrav-based quest. There is more to come, though…

Starting location: Start by talking to the General Denulth in Burthorpe training camp.
Quest difficulty level: Medium.

Quest points gained: 1.
Required Skills: 15 Agility, good combat (60+), thieving (30+) and prayer (43+) recommended.

Monsters: Trolls (level 69), Dad (level 101), General (level 113).
NPC: General Denulth (Burthorpe training camp), Twig (Troll Stronghold jail).

TROLL STRONGHOLD QUEST WALKTHROUGH
Firstly talk to the General Denulth in Burthorpe training camp, and if you don’t have any climbing boots, go to Tenzing and you can get the boots from him. Go through the Sherpa’s hut (or run the gauntlets of thrower trolls) to a junction on the ledge above the gauntlet, blocked by rocks. Climb the rocks and head east, you’ll come to a gate. When you try and open it, it will say you must defeat Dad.
Go in and defeat Dad (level 101, and does knock backs), and exit the arena using the other gate and follow the path. Go through several small caves and you will come to a circular mountain / maze - do not climb it, go round it to the areas to the northwest, again avoiding thrower trolls.
Walk through this area to an entrance to the stronghold where there will be lots of Trolls (level 69), enter the stronghold and go west to kill a general level 113, the general will hit a lot on you, so use protection from melee against him, he will drop a prison key. The prison is to the northeast, down two sets of stairs. Once down in the prison there are 2 guards sleeping, look in the room and there is a guard named twig, pickpocket him (or kill him) for the key to the prisoners’ cell (cell key 1). Go in the cell and talk with the prisoners.
Return to Denulth to claim your reward, he will send you to Dunstan who gives you a family heirloom - a Law Talisman.

TROLL ROMANCE QUEST WALKTHROUGH

THE START
Items for this part: Climbing boots or 12gp, some (low) food (optional), prayer points (optional).
Description: To start off, go to the troll stronghold, it’s located north from Burthorpe. You will need some climbing boots; you can buy them from Terzing for 12gp. Terzing is located on the southwest end of the Troll Mountains. Go all the way past the stone throwing trolls (use protect from range prayer if you can). Get inside the Troll Stronghold and head east. Go down the stairs and head west, until you find a doorway. Go through it and to the west side of the room, you will find a troll crying. This is Ug, the start of your quest. Talk to him about Aga.

AGA
Description: Head east to the end of the next room, you will find Aga, ask her about her love life. Then continue about “Trollweiss”.

UG PART 2
Description: Talk to Ug about the flower, he will tell you only someone who has lived in the mountains all his life knows how to get the Trollweiss.

TENZING
Description: Go back all the way trough the mountains to Tenzing. This is the Sherpa as where you could also buy climbing boots. Ask him about Trollweiss. He will tell you it’s impossible to get, but keep insisting on going after it. He will finally tell you, you need a sled to go down. He will tell you to go see Dunstan.

DUNSTAN
Description: Ask him about the sled. Tell him you feel too old for one by pressing “yes”, he will ask why you need one and you will explain him. After this he will tell you what he needs to build one. He sends you off to find these items and says he’ll be working on the model meanwhile.

DUNSTAN PART 2
Items for this part: Maple or yew log, iron bar, rope
Description: You will need a maple or yew log, an iron bar and some rope for him to build a sled. Talk to him with these items in your inventory and he will build it.

WAXING THE SLED
Items for this part: Cake tin, insect repellent, swamp tar
Description: Go to the Catherby beehives. You will find a bucket respawn, pick one up. Use the bucket on any beehive while having the insect repellent in your inventory. You will get some honey. Use the swamp tar on the bucket with honey while having a cake tin with you. You will get some wax. Use the wax on the sled.

GET THE TROLLWEISS
Items for this part: Teleport ring/amulet/runes (optional).
Description: There is a route north of the stone throwing trolls. It could be useful to teleport there because it’s quite close and you won’t have to pass the stone throwers again. Follow the path to a closed ice-gate. West of here is a cave, go trough it, but be warned there are a lot of level 120 trolls, although they don’t seem aggressive. After this is a great ice plateau. Ride your slide here (you can go around like your walking). Go southwest (mostly south) past some wolves. You will find a “slope”. Go for the first option “slide slope”. You will get a small animated movie about sliding. Eventually you will stop sliding and be able to “walk” again. Go west to a plateau and pick some rare flowers. You only need one for the quest but if you like pick some more. Now you can do two things. Either you teleport out, or you slide down the next slope located to the south.

BACK TO UG
Items for this part: Throllweiss.
Description: Go back to Ug and give him the flower by talking to him. He tells you he is afraid of giving it to Aga because of Arrg. You will need to defeat Arrg.

DEFEATING ARRG
Description: The most difficult part of the quest. First talk to him. Tell him you came to kill him. You will be taken outside (can’t fight in front of a lady) and will need to kill him here. Be warned, he uses both melee as well as missile attacks (throwing rocks). If you don’t want to get hit, you will have to switch between melee protection and missile protection prayer really fast. Do make sure you keep an eye on your hit points because he might hit you anyway. After you beat him, just go back to Ug to finish the quest.
