WHAT LIES BELOW QUEST WALKTHROUGH
Speak to Rat Burgiss at the crossroads of Lumbridge and Varrock. While traveling to Varrock, his cart was ransacked by outlaws. These outlaws took five pages of some very important papers. Offer to get them back for him. He heard the outlaws say they were heading to a camp site northwest of Varrock. Burgiss provides a folder to put the pages in, after you have reclaimed them. Head up to the outlaws camp - due east of the Edgeville fairy ring and southwest of the Spirit Tree. Kill five Outlaws (Level 32) and use the papers they drop on your folder. Return to Burgiss and give him his folder.
Burgiss will tell you a secret. Your response makes him decide to instead give you another task which is delivering a letter that is incomprehensible to you. The letter is to be given to Surok Magis, a wizard residing in the Varrock Palace Library, so head up and speak to him. Upon giving him the letter, he will immediately destroy it and offer to let you in on a secret - he has discovered a way to turn clay into gold bars. He only needs a few more things so he can create enough gold to share with you: a bowl and a wand with the power of the chaos altar in it. He will give you a metal wand and a diary written by one Sin’keth, a follower of Zamorak who helped in the creation of the Tunnel of Chaos, hidden beneath a statue of Saradomin. Surok Magis will also tell you of a historic tome somewhere in the library which contains details on a shortcut to the Chaos Altar. Search the bookcases until you find the Dagon’hai history; this book also points to the statue of Saradomin as the entrance to the Tunnel of Chaos.

Take 15 chaos runes and the metal wand to the Chaos Altar. There are three ways to go:

The Abyss - Like any normal abyss trip, go through the abyss and into the Chaos portal.
The Wilderness - Head north and west from Edgeville and enter the Chaos Altar with a talisman or tiara.
The Tunnel of Chaos (Level 42 Mining Required) - You will need a Chaos talisman or tiara for this path. Head out the east gate of Varrock and follow the path north to the Saradomin statue.
The Saradomin Statue Use a bronze pickaxe to excavate the statue. If you don’t have one speak to Anna Jones who will give you one on Surok’s orders. Use the wand on the Chaos altar to infuse the runes. Return to Surok with the Infused wand and bowl. He must now prepare the spell, which will take some time.
To occupy you during the wait, he has a letter for you to deliver to Rat Burgiss. Head to Rat and give him the letter - after reading it he will decide to let you in on his secret. It turns out he is really the Commander of the Varrock Palace Secret Guard, acting on suspicions that Surok was trying to control King Roald. It appears in your vain wishes for gold, you have really helped Surok to finally get the items needed for his mind-control spell. The only person with the knowledge to counteract this spell is Zaff, the owner of the staff shop in Varrock. Speak with him, saying that Rat Burgiss sent you. The spell developed to counteract Surok’s mind-control spell will only work if King Roald is made incredibly weak beforehand. Zaff will give you some instructions and a beacon ring, used to summon him when King Roald is appropriately weakened. Though Surok will most likely refuse to an arrest, you have been made an honorary member of the Varrock Palace Secret Guard so you are able to arrest him.

It is time to return to the Varrock Palace Library and confront Surok. He, of course, refuses to go quietly. Instead, he orders King Roald - already placed under his spell - to attack you. In a cut scene, Surok will summon King Roald (Level 47), who, after brief disorientation, decides he must kill you. Fight him until your chatbox says “Now would be a good time to summon Zaff!” Operate the Beacon Ring, and Zaff will cast the counter-spell, then teleport King Roald out of danger. Surok will attempt to escape, but his teleportation spell will be corrupted by Zaff. Zaff has instated a permanent teleblock on the library, stopping Surok from ever leaving. All that is left is to go to Rat and tell him of the mission’s success. Though it is expected he will no longer be a problem, a closer watch is now being kept on Surok. Burgiss gives you the reward, mentioning that one day there may be a place for you in the Varrock Palace Secret Guard.

Runescape SHIELD OF ARRAV QUEST STRATEGY

Posted by: cow  //  Category: Runescape Quests

Starting location: Reldo, Varrock Library (in the palace).
Quest difficulty level: Medium.
Reward: 600gp.
Quest points gained: 1.
Required Items: A few gp (100 should be enough) and a friend.
The book: Search around the library bookcases until you find a book titled ‘The Shield of Arrav’ by A R Wright and then read it.
Phoenix Gang: To join this gang, go back to Reldo and talk with him about where you can find the Phoenix Gang. He doesn’t know but tells you to ask the fur trader. Talk with the fur trader in Varrock Square. Give him 20gp for the information on where the Phoenix hideout is. Head over to the hideout, it’s in a room in the south of Varrock. Head down the stairs and talk with Straven.
VTAM Corporation: To join the VTAM Corporation you’ll need to kill Jonny the Beard in the Blue Moon Inn (west of the hideout) to get a report for Straven. Straven will then give you a key to the weapons store. The shield half is in the back in a chest.
Black Arm Gang: Ask your friend for some help. Ask them to talk to the tramp just west of the south entrance to Varrock. Ask him what’s down the alleyway, and he’ll tell them that it’s the Black Arm Gang’s hideout. Your friend must follow the alleyway and talk with Katrine. They must tell her that you know about the gang, and that you won’t tell who your source is. Tell her to try you out to prove that you’re trustworthy.
Getting the crossbows: Using the key to the weapons store go a little east of the Phoenix hideout and find the locked door. Go in and up the stairs. You will be attacked by the Phoenix master of arms. Kill him and take two crossbows. Give your friend the crossbows and they can go back to Katrine and give her the crossbows, go upstairs in the hideout, and get the shield half.
Completing the quest: Now you will have one half of the shield and your friend will have the other. Hopefully they will give you their half. Once you have both halves go to Curator in the Varrock Museum located east of the palace you started in. Talk with him, and get the 2 certificates. Give one to your friend, and then head of to the king in the Varrock palace, give him the certificate, and you’ll have completed the quest.

Talk to Sigmund and then to Duke Horacio, who tells you about a disturbance in the castle cellar which he asks you to investigate. Talk with either Hans (outside the castle), Bob (axe shop) or Father Aereck (in the church). They tell you that they saw a big Goblin-like creature in the cellar. Go back to the Duke, and he will tell you once again to investigate further. Pickpocket Sigmund for a key. Go down into the cellar (trapdoor in the kitchen). Use your pickaxe on the rubble to the far east of the room and proceed through it. Inside the cavern, take the brooch that spawns where the path splits. Go back to the Duke and show him the brooch. He tells you to talk with Reldo in the Varrock Library (in the castle). Reldo tells you that there’s a book on ancient goblin races in one of the bookcases. Search the bookcases on the west wall until you find it and read it. Go to the Goblin Village (north of Falador). Talk to the Generals Bentnoze and Wartface and get them to show you the two emotes the Goblin Bow and the Goblin Dance. Go back to the cellar and this time go all the way to the goblins and talk to a creature named Mistag. Use your “Goblin Bow” emotion. He will then tell you that it was all just an accident, and that he would like you to tell the “ruler of the above-people”. Return the way you came and return to the Duke. He will ask you to find the castle’s silverware that went missing and that unless it is found he will have no option but to war against the goblins. Use your key on the chest in the room just south of the Duke and Sigmund. In the chest, you will find a set of HAM Robes. Tell the Duke that Sigmund is a member of HAM. Go to the HAM Headquarters which is in the ruins near the spiders in the Lumbridge woods, down the trapdoor (pick the lock) and search the first crate you find. In it you will find the silverware. Go back to the Duke and he will expel Sigmund from the castle. He gives you a peace treaty. Take this treaty to Mistag. Talk to a goblin called Kazgar who is standing near where the brooch was. He will take you to the goblin mines. Talk to Mistag there. You will see a cut scene and this completes the quest.

Quest points gained: 2.
Required Quests: Creature of Fenkenstrain, Cabin Fever, Recipe for Disaster - Saving Pirate Pete.

Other Requirements: Access to a Player Owned House workshop, Ability to defeat a level 190 monster without using Prayer.
Monsters: Zombie Pirate (Level 57), Sorebones (Level 57), Barrelchest (Level 190).

THE GREAT BRAIN ROBBERY QUEST WALKTHROUGH
Speak to Brother Tranquility on Mos Le’harmless. He will ask you to help him fend off some zombie pirates. Agree to help him and he will teleport you to an island called Harmony where he, other zombie monks, and zombie pirates reside. For future teleports, right click Brother Tranquility and select “teleport.” Go to the Saradomin statue, north of the granary you were teleported to. Zombie Pirates will be all over the island. Pull the statue aside to reveal a hole and climb down. You will see some stairs that lead into the water. Go down these. You will need your diving apparatus and helmet equipped. Once you are in the tunnel, run through more zombie pirates to the end of it where you will see some damaged stairs. Repair them. You will need 10 nails (bring extra just in case), a hammer, and 4 normal planks. Climb up the reparied stairs and you will find yourself in a room with bookcases. Use the option “Peep Through Peephole.” You will find out the Zombie Pirates are planning on knocking out the monks with sleeping gas. Report back to Brother Tranquility.
Tell Brother Tranquility the plot and he will send you to collect a prayer book from Edgeville Monastary. You will be teleported back to Mos Le’harmless. Go to the monastery and search the bookcase on the left side of the building. You will find the book of prayers. Read the book to find how to cure the monk’s disease. Pick the item asked by the book. It will be either Cabbage or Holy symbol. To get the cabbage, go south to the entrance of the mountain and then go northeast. Pick a head of cabbage in the patch north of the monastary. To get a holy symbol, go to Crafting Guild, mine silver, pick up the Holy mould (1st floor), smelt, complete with a ball of wool and have it blessed by the head monk in the monastary.

Return to Brother Tranquility who will teleport you back to Harmony and ask you to recite the prayer. Talk to Brother Tranquility again. He will ask you to bring Dr. Fenkenstrain to help them get their brains back. Go to Dr. Fenkenstrain in his castle. He is at the top of the central tower. You will ask him to help get the monks’ brains back. He will be scared to pass the werewolves, so you must find another way to get him to Harmony. He will tell you to talk to Rufus, the shopkeeper of the food shop in Canifis, and arrange for him to be shipped over to Harmony in a crate.

Go to Rufus with your Ring of Charos equipped. Ask him about the shipping order and he will say he wants cats in the crate and that they must be inspected. You will be given a wolf whistle to blow once you have made the crates and you will need to make some fake cats out of planks and fur, made on the craft bench in your or your friend’s house. Get your fake cats and crate part and build the crates on the ghost crate image next to Fenkenstrain in the tower. You will need all 6 crate parts, a hammer, and 20 nails. You will need to add a false bottom to the crate for the Fenksentrain to hide under; this requires 4 normal planks and 8 nails. Next fill the crate with your 10 fake cats. After that, you will need to blow your whistler and Rufus will appear and inspect the crate. After he leaves, he will give you a receipt. When he does this, you need to use it on the crate and the crate will teleport. Once the crate and the doctor have been moved, you will need to go back to Harmony and talk to Dr. Fenkenstrain. He will ask you to get some items for him. The items are: Cranial Clamp, Pair of Brain Tongs, Three bell jars, at least 30 skull staples, and a Hammer.

To get the items he asks for, you will need to go to the church north of where Brother Tranquility is. You will find the door to be blocked, so you need to go and get a powder keg, fuse, and a tinderbox from the ghost ship north of the church. Search the locker to get the fuse, go up the ladder and get a tinderbox. Finally, go and get a keg from the top deck of the ghost ship. When you have these three items, go back to the blockaded door of the church and use the keg on the door, then the fuse, and finally use the tinderbox on the fuse to destroy the door. Kill the Sorebones (Level 57) to get all of the items you need except for the hammer.

Once you have all of the items the doctor asked for, go back and talk to Dr. Fenkenstrain and he will perform the operation right then. Now that they are back to normal, talk to Brother Tranquility and he will tell you to confront Mi-Gor who is in the church north of where you are now. Now that you are ready for the final battle, go back to the church and confront Mi-Gor and his bodyguard Barrelchest (Level 190) will appear and attack you. Once he is dead, he will drop a broken barrelchest anchor which can be made into a weapon. Once you have confronted Mi-Gor and killed his bodyguard, return to Brother Tranquility and tell him that Mi-Gor has fled for your reward.

Runescape ELEMENTAL WORKSHOP II QUEST STRATEGY

Posted by: cow  //  Category: Runescape Quests

Starting location: Exam Centre at the Dig Site.
Quest difficulty level: Easy.
Reward: 7500 Crafting, 7500 Smithing, ability to make and use Elemental Mind equipment.
Quest points gained: 1.
Required Quests: Elemental Workshop.
Required Skills: Level 20 Magic, Level 30 Smithing.
Required Items: Hammer, pickaxe, coal.
Monsters: Earth Elemental (level 35).
NPC: None.

ELEMENTAL WORKSHOP II QUEST WALKTHROUGH
To begin the quest go to the Exam Centre at the Dig Site (southeast of Varrock) and search the bookcases in the southeast corner of the examination room until you find a Beaten Book. Read the book and a scroll will fall out. Read this to get directions to the new workshop from the stairs down to the old one. Teleport to Camelot and enter the Elemental Workshop from the first Elemental Workshop quest. Follow the steps listed in the note. You will eventually find yourself in the water chamber and to the east of a pipe. Search it to recieve a key that unlocks a door near the entrance to the Workshop. The new workshop is square-shaped with a track running around the perimeter. There are four broken machines on each side of the square. There are also two staircases leading up to the catwalk area of the new Workshop. Your task in the quest is to repair the four machines in the workshop and then to “prime” an elemental bar.
Search the schematics crate for the plans on how to fix and make a claw. Now head back up to the first Workshop and mine an elemental ore. As with the first quest, you will need to kill an earth elemental to obtain the ore. To save returning here for another bar later on, get two ores and make two bars. When you’ve done this, go smelt it into a bar using the furnace, then smith the bar into a claw using the workbench and return to the second workshop. Click the lowering lever, making certain the crane is facing to the north, and use the elemental bar on the claw to repair it. To fix the pipes, you will need to pick up a spare pipe. This is in a random crate in the workshop. Use the pipe on the broken pipes at the far northern side of the catwalks. To fix the Wind Tube on the eastern side of the second Workshop, you need to find three different cogs: Large, Medium, and Small. These cogs can be found in crates throughout the new Workshop. Use the Small cog on the upper left pin, the Medium cog on the lower left pin and the Large cog on the right pin Operate the lever to make sure you did it right. If you did it correctly it should say the fan is now blowing. To repair the Steam Press on the western side of the new Workshop, climb up to the catwalks and find the Junction Box on the western side. Open the Junction box and arrange the pipes as follows to fix the Steam Press. Click the lower left and lower middle pipes to connect them to each other. Then connect the upper right and upper middle to each other. Click the upper left and lower right pipes to make the final connection. The display closes when it’s finished. All the machines are now fixed.

Before priming an Elemental Bar, make sure the Wind Fan is NOT operating. Click the lever that operates the Cart Jig until the cart is positioned underneath the repaired crane. When the cart arrives at the claw use your Elemental Bar with the cart Lower the claw so it picks the bar up, then raise the claw with the same lever. Click the other lever to swivel the crane over the lava and click the lowering lever to lower it into the lava. Click the lowering lever again to raise the bar up, click the rotating lever to swivel it back to the cart and lower it. Raise it one last time so that the claw is no longer holding the bar and the heated bar is on the cart. Operate the Cart Jig again. The cart should position itself beneath the steam press. Operate the steam press lever which is in front of the pipes on the first floor. The elemental bar should now be flattened as long as the pipes in the Junction Box was positioned correctly. Operate the Cart Jig again so that it moves around to the Water Tank. Open the tank door and click the corkscrew level twice to expand and retract the Cart Rack. Once the cart is inside the Tank, close the door. Now operate the two valves so that the tank fills with water, cooling the bar down Now empty the tank by turning the valves again, open the door and release the Rack again. Once the cart is back on the track, retract the rack and close the door. Operate the Cart Jig once again so that it heads towards the Wind Tube. Operate the Fan lever so that the Bar is fully cooled down Turn the Fan off by operating the lever again and make your way over to the Cart Jig lever. Click this for the last time to move the cart back underneath the crane. Once it reaches here, retrieve the “Primed Bar” from the Cart.

Head down the stairs in the northwest corner of the new Workshop. From the stairs head south and then east through the “Mind Door” Once in the Mind Room, use your Primed Bar on the Extraction Gun and Operate the Extractor (you will lose 20 magic levels when using the extractor). You will now receive a golden Elemental Bar Return upstairs to the first workshop and use your new bar on the workbenches and create a Prime Elemental Helmet to complete the quest.

The Lost Tribe Quest

Posted by: cow  //  Category: Runescape Quests

Items Needed: Lantern of some sort, tinderbox, pickaxe
Skills Needed: 17 Mining, 13 Agility, and 13 Thieving
Quests Required: Rune Mysteries and Goblin Diplomacy Quests completed
Reward: 1 Quest Point, 3k Mining exp, Ability to mine in the Dorgeshuun mines, a Ring of Life

To begin this quest, speak to Sigmund in the second floor of Lumbridge Castle.

Something has happened in the castle cellar, and Sigmund will tell you to ask around town to find out what happened.

The person you speak to at this point will be random, but in Lumbridge. Try Bob, the cook downstairs, the Priest in the church, and other NPCs running around. Once you get one that says that he/she ’saw something in the cellar’, return and speak with Duke Horacio in the room where you found Sigmund. He’ll give you permission to investigate the underground cellar.

Climb down the trapdoor in the kitchen downstairs to enter the cellar. There will be a hole in the wall. Use your pickaxe on it. Light your lantern if you have one, and enter.

The southern passage will lead to the Lumbridge Swamp dungeon. Clear it if you want. Grab the brooch in the entryway and examine it.

Head back up and speak with Duke Horacio. He’ll direct you to speak to Reldo, in the Varrock Library.

Go to the Varrock Castle and speak with Reldo. Search the western bookcases for the Goblin Book. Read it.

Head to the Goblin Village, north of Falador. Speak with the Generals there, and show them your brooch in the conversation.

They will teach you the Goblin Bow and Goblin Dance of the Dorgeshuun.

Re-enter the dungeon under Lumbridge Castle.

This dungeon has multiple traps that will block your path. Examine the various rocks, and move through the dungeon, making sure that the path you’re on has observable symbols. (The symbols can point you in a direction, but it was easier for me to use intuition.) If you see the Bone Crane, that’s a good thing. If there is a passage with only one space, it’s probably (not necessarily) a trap. All shortcuts are traps. Avoid.

At the end of the tunnel, speak with Mistag, the cave goblin. Perform the Goblin Bow, and move through the conversation. He’ll tell you to make peace.

Move back and speak with Duke Horacio to find that he thinks the goblins stole some silverware.

Pickpocket Sigmund, and open the chest in the other room for HAM robes.

Tell Horacio about it, then move to the HAM lair. Break in and search the first crate that you find for the Lumbridge Silverware.

Speak to Duke Horacio again. He’ll give you a document. Return to the entrance of the dungeon to speak with Kazgar. He’ll teleport you to the mine entrance.

Speak to Mistag to be treated with a movie sequence.

Quest complete.
