Dungeoneering - Resource Dungeons

Posted by: amber  //  Category: Runescape Skills

The powers behind Daemonheim once required creatures and resources to help build their shifting dungeons, and they often went beyond RuneScape to find them. To bring them into this world, they would travel deep into dungeons, away from prying eyes, and invoke a portal.

In your travels, you may come across mysterious entrances protected by a large magical seal. Should you have the correct Dungeoneering level, you may remove these seals and access the creatures, resources and extras that lie beyond. You will even get a one-time Dungeoneering XP boost for finding what has long been dormant.

The general locations of the resource dungeons can be found below, but their exact location will have to be discovered by you…

Runescape Money making guide 2010

Posted by: cow  //  Category: Uncategorized

There are in fact a lot of ways to make money on Runescape as a F2P account, but many of them are time-consuming to be able to start doing, below I’ve listed skills and tactics to be able to make runescape money.

Combat

Fighting high level enemies means you can get high value drop, my personal favourite is the cockroach soldier in the stronghold of security, but I recommend being around level 70 with food. Cockroach soldiers drop quite a few rune items which are worth a fair amount, e.g. Rune scimitars which sell for around 35k on the Grand Exchange.

Other good enemies to kill are Lesser Demons (Found on Karamja), which occasionally drop Rune med helms which give around 10k with high alchemy,  Ankou (Found in stronghold of security) and Greater Demons (Found in deep wilderness). Another weaker alternative is to kill Hill Giants, which always drops big bones which can be collected and sold for quite a lot of money.

I would highly recommend Cockroach Soldiers though but you need to be a high level to kill them.

Mining

This is a very profitable skill, especially when you reach coal or better yet, level 60 mining which allows you entry to the mining guild which also has 5 mithril ore deposits which can also be mined for profit. This becomes even more profitable after reaching adamantite ore and it sky-rockets once you reach runite ore which sells for around 12k each. Sadly the only place to mine runite ore is deep into the wilderness and there is only one rock, so many miners world hop because it takes a long time to respawn.

Smithing

This is profitable at most levels as long as you’ve mined the ores yourself, otherwise at low levels isn’t very profitable. At higher levels it becomes much more profitable and again, reaching rune will definitely help you as many items are still in heavy demand.

A good tactic I’ve been using lately to make upwards of 200k an hour is to buy nature runes, mithril and coal ores on the Grand Exchange and with a fire staff, use superheat item (requires magic level 43) and make mithril bars, this provides an easy profit whilst also gaining you both smithing and magic experience.

Fishing

I personally find it very hard to make a profit whilst fishing but it is easily achievable by selling lobsters (cooked or raw) and swordfish (again cooked or raw), this is rather time consuming but is best done on Karamja. Personally I sell them raw as it saves time and reduces the risk of burning a fish and therefore not being able

to sell it.

Cooking

A good method for this is to get level 55 cooking and buying plain pizzas and anchovies off the grand exchange and then using them to make anchovy pizzas which sell to make an easy profit on the grand exchange. This is a fast method to make money without having to do much at all.

If you need to get your cooking level up, a good method is to buy raw trout in bulk from the grand exchange, and then cook them to get cooking experience, when you sell them back you make a very small loss, around 1-2 gold for each trout but this money is made back easily by making anchovy pizzas.

Magic

(Look at smelting for tips on how to use superheat item for profit.)

Another method is to use telekinetic grab (telegrab) (which requires magic level 33) on the Wine of Zamorak found north of Falador, the best way to do this is with a staff of air and 28 law runes, when you have 27 wines, drop one and use telegrab then you should have no law runes and should be able to pick up the one you dropped on the floor.

To level magic quickly, get rune essence (either buy it or mine it) and login to world 16 and go to the air altar and find someone to assist you who can do 6x air runes (the higher the better), buy a fire staff and collect mind runes from Lumbridge castle and finally auto-cast fire strike on the lesser demon in the Mage Tower for easy experience.

Runecrafting

This only becomes profitable after level 44 when you can get 5x air runes, buy (or mine) rune essence and take it to the Grand Exchange, then just make continuous runs from Varrock West Bank to the air altar and get a lot of air runes and sell them back on the Grand Exchange.

If you don’t want to spend so long on getting a high runecrafting, then be a runner instead, go on to world 16 and go to the air altar and find someone to assist you who can do 6x air runes (the higher the better) and simply sell the air runes.

Woodcutting

Train until you can cut down yew logs, this takes a long time but can yield high profits, so stick with it as it is usually worth it – that’s all there is to woodcutting really.

Other Tips

When buying and selling, make sure you log how much you buy and for what prices. It’s very easy to make a loss when you’re not watching prices properly and it can be very hard to make back the money you lose.

Always look for a bargain, if someone offers you a good trade, take it and then sell the item for its normal price, it’s easy to tell if you are getting a good deal by looking at the wealth meter during trades or by looking at an items grand exchange price.

Runescape DRAGON SLAYER QUEST STRATEGY

Posted by: cow  //  Category: Runescape Quests

Starting location: This quest starts in the Champions Guild just to the south west of Varrock.
Quest difficulty level: Hard
Reward: Ability to wield rune plate/dragonhide body armour and exp to both strength and defence.
Quest points gained: 2.
Required Skills: 32 quest points and 34 smithing. Ability to beat a level 83 Dragon and a lesser demon(s) (defence/attack/strength of around 45+).
Required Items: 3 planks, 90 nails, hammer, 2000gp, unfired bowl, Wizard mind bomb (Falador pub for 2gp), Lobster pot, a piece of silk (Al-Kharid), Dragonfire Shield, a good high hitting weapon (not 2h) and some food.
Monsters: Worm brain (level 5), Giant Rat (level 6), Lesser Demons (level 82), Elvarg the Dragon (level 83).
DRAGON SLAYER QUEST WALKTHROUGH
Speak to the Guild Master and ask him about obtaining a Rune Plate mail. He tells you that his friend, Oziach can help you out. He can be found in a small hut just left of the entrance to Edgeville north of Barbarian Village. He will send you off to kill the green dragon Elvarg on Crandor Isle. You will need to collect 3 map pieces in order to get to the island.
Map Piece One: There are two ways to get this, the first is the hardest, but by far the cheapest. If you have magic level above 31, get decent runes to kill a level 2 and a wizards’ mind bomb from the pub in Falador to boost your magic up to 33. Go to the Port Sarim jail and kill Wormbrain and use telekinetic grab on the piece of map he drops. The second option is to go to Wormbrain and buy the map for 10,000gp.
Map Piece Two: Take the unfired bowl, Wizard mind bomb, Lobster pot, and the piece of silk and speak with the Oracle on the Ice Mountain. After speaking to him take the items down to the dwarven mine, entering through the northern ladder. Go through the door that is just south east of here. Search the chest and find the second map piece.
Map Piece Three: You will need to fight a level 45 and level 82 lesser demon to get this map piece. Go to Melzar’s Maze which is south west of Falador near to Rimmington (making sure you have the key Oziach gave you). Enter the building and kill rats until you get a red key. Use this key to go through the north west door and go up the ladder. Kill the ghosts until you get the orange key. Use this key to go though the door second from the left and go up the ladder. Kill the skeletons until you get a yellow key. Use this key to go into the most south west door and follow the corridor round and down the ladders. Kill the zombies until you get the blue key and use this key to go through the most northern door leading to Melzar the mad. Kill him (ignoring all he says) and go through the door leading to the Lesser Demon. Kill the lesser and collect the green key. Use this key to go through the door and search the chest to get the third map piece.
Obtaining the boat: Talk to the guy at the very end of Port Sarim harbour and offer to buy the boat for 2000gp. You will need three planks and 90 nails to repair the boat. (To get the planks you need to go to level 19 wilderness and search around by the graveyard, or if you’re a member, you can go to the Barbarian Outpost where you’ll find 4 respawns. For the nails you need to smith 6 steel bars into nails).
Go back to the boat and fix the hole using the planks, nails and hammer. Use the three map pieces with each other to make the full map. Go to Draynor and find Ned the Fisherman, who is in a building there. Ask him if he will take you to Crandor, he will say yes and he will meet you at the boat. Equip your Dragonfire shield and a good weapon. Go back to the boat, go down the ladder and talk to Ned. When you get to the island make your way to the dungeon. Enter the gate into the green dragons lair and kill the dragon. (He will hit no more than 13 on people with 40-45 defence). This completes the quest and you receive your reward. Note: To get out go through the odd looking wall and climb the rope (which is on the floor).

Achieve Level 99 Range on RuneScape as a F2P

Posted by: cow  //  Category: Runescape Guide

The Following are recommended steps to take in order to achieve 99 Ranged as an FTP (Free to Play) Player.

If starting anew, train each stat to level 3 on Tutorial Island.

Get Leather Armor (Hard body, Chaps, Vambraces & Coif), a Short bow, an Oak Short Bow, and Bronze or Iron Arrows to begin.
Start by ranging low level creatures (Chickens, Rats, Cows) from behind a fence until reaching level 20 ranged. (Switch from regular Short Bow to Oak Short Bow at level 5 ranged)
Get Studded Leather Armor (Hard body & Chaps), more Iron Arrows (if needed) and a Willow Short bow to continue. **Please note that if you have the financial means, you may now purchase a Willow Composite Bow, however, the slight increase in ranged attack does not sufficiently offset the noticeable decreas in ranged speed**
Head to either Barbarian Village or Black Knights compound. Take full advantage of the tables in each location to hide behind while ranging. Range until level 40.
Get more Iron Arrows wich you can buy or if you are a high enough level kill minotaurs in barbarian village if needed minitours are levels 12&27 (and minotaurs drop bronze full helms also wich you can sell to peksa the barbarian helmet salesman), Maple Short Bow, and Green Dragonhide Armour (D’hide Chaps, D’hide Vambraces, Coif and D’hide Body if you have completed Dragon Slayer Quest). Then fight white knights in falador until range lvl 60.
Purchase More Iron or Steel Arrows (depending on budgetary constraints) and head to Lesser Demons in Karamja’s volcano’s rim. Taking advantage of the rocks, hide and range lessers or go to the third story of the wizards tower and range the lesser demons. Range until reaching level 99. See the Tips below for what arrows to use at these high levels
Always use a Short Bow. Though Short Bows and Long Bows are statistically even, the short bow is drastically faster.
Always have plenty of food and arrows.
Find a Rock or a fence you can range behind to avoid suffering dammage.
Get a Maple Short Bow when you reach level 40. DO NOT now purchase or continue using a Willow Composite Bow. They are slow, and do not hit as well as a Maple, contrary to popluar belief. They do not wield adamant arrows either…
Some range armor has a defense requirement, but this only applies to the body. For example, green dragonhide bodies require 40 defense, but the legs and vambraces do not.
Green dragon hide bodies require that you complete the dragon slayer quest before wearing it or buying from the champions guild or wearing. You can still buy this from other players.
Wearing a Rune Chainmail body in lieu of a Green D’Hide Body has no negetive effect on ranging, and offers a drastic increase in defensive capabilities.
Wearing a rune full helm decreases your range by 2, though it does slightly increase your defence.
Rangers need Defence!!! Skills tend to go in matched pairs (Mining/Smithing, Fishing/Cooking, Attack/Strength) and Ranged is no exception.
if you are a member and your using the cannon, you can try using it on higer level monsters if you want some good drops.
Buy a bunch of red chinchombas and range zombie monkeys below the temple in the monkey madness quest for insane exp (200k per hour)(achieved via splash damage mostly)
If starting a new, train each stat to level 3 on Tutorial Island
It is recommended to use strictly Steel arrows starting in to 80s all the way to level 97.
Mith Arrows should be used for final two levels.
Addy arrows are not recomended, as their cost is highly prohibitive to training.
Pick up your arrows if they cost alot.
