Fishing - Barbarian Fishing

Posted by: amber  //  Category: Runescape Skills

Getting Started
To start Fishing in the manner of the barbarians, you must have a Fishing level of 48, and Strength and Agility levels of 15.

Click here to find out how to start learning barbarian training methods.

Heavy Rod Fishing

One of the first tasks Otto Godblessed will set you is to use the rod that he keeps under his bed to catch one of the fish in the lake to the east of his hut. These fish are more difficult to catch than you might expect, as they leap about in the water and use their impressive vigour to fight against the pull of the fishing rod.

Because of the nature of these fish, you will find that you need more than just an angler’s cunning, and you will need use the weight of the rod and your reflexes to catch them. In this way, fishing with the heavy rod will earn experience in Fishing, Strength and Agility.

You will need to use bait to catch the fish in the lake, and you may use any of the following:

- Bait
- Feather
- Fish parts
- Roe
- Caviar

If you lose the heavy rod you need to catch these fish, you can find another by searching Otto’s bed. Fishing spots for the fish below can only be found in the lake next to Otto’s hut.

Fish Fishing Level
Required Other Levels Required Fishing Experience Strength & Agility
Experience

Leaping trout 48  15
15  50 5

Leaping salmon 58  30
30  70 6

Leaping sturgeon 70  45
45  80 7

Once you have caught one of these fish, you can use a knife on them to cut out the roe or caviar and to get fish parts. Fish parts can only be used as bait, but as it is stackable, it is a good way to carry on Fishing without having to worry about running out of bait. You will receive 10 Cooking experience for gutting a fish.

Roe and caviar can be used to enhance potions, which Otto will teach you to do. Click here to find out about barbarian potions.

Fishing Without a Harpoon

One of the more impressive feats barbarians have learnt is the ability to use their own arm as bait for larger fish, and then using that same arm to wrestle the fish out of the water. It takes a bold fisherman to thrash their arm about, waiting for a shark to come close…

You need a Fishing level of 55 and a Strength level of 35 to begin Fishing without a harpoon.

LAND OF THE GOBLINS QUEST WALKTHROUGH

Talk to Grubfoot and listen to his story. Tell Mistag that you will vouch for him and that you will enter the city. Go to Oldak’s house, located in the north-western ground floor of the city, and speak with Zanik. Grubfoot will tell you about a dream he had about Zanik and Yu’biusk, the homeland of the goblins. Grubfoot believes Zanik will lead the goblins back to their homeland to live in peace. Zanik will decide to investigate this. Grubfoot says that the high priest in the Goblin Temple might know how to get to Yu’biusk.

Oldak will teleport you to the cave outside the temple. Go to the north-western section of the cave and talk to one of the goblin guards. Zanik will enter, but you will be denied entry because you are a human. Go back to Dorgesh-Kaan and speak with Oldak. He will suggest that you visit the Makeover Mage to learn about becoming a goblin. Speak with the Makeover Mage, located south-west of Falador, and you will be given instructions on making a goblin transmogrification potion. Mix a toadflax with a vial of water and add the berries that the Makeover Mage provides to you to make the goblin potion. Return to the cave of the Goblin Temple, drink the potion, choose your appearance, and enter the temple.

Enter the temple and speak to the High Priest in the north-eastern corner. Ask him where Zanik is. He will tell you that she could not answer his test correctly and was imprisoned in the black-armoured goblin’s area. Leave the temple and pick one of the mushrooms in the cave. Use it with a pestle and mortar with an empty vial in your inventory to get black die, then use this with goblin armour to get black goblin armour. Wear this and enter the room east of the High Priest. Speak with Zanik, who will tell you that her Moving-Over-Distance Sphere was taken from her but should be in a nearby crate. Search the crates, speak with Zanik again, and watch her teleport away.

Go back to the High priest and ask about Yu’biusk. He will tell you that you must pass a test. Take his test and answer his questions:

1a. True.
1b. Because the big high war god commands it.
2a. False
2b. Because goblins were not mighty before he chose them.
3a. False
3b. It’s one of the commandments.
4. Lead goblins to victory over the whole world.

He will then allow you to ask him more questions. Ask about Yu’biusk again, and he will tell you that the previous High Priest might know. However, the previous high priest is dead. His bones are being kept in the tomb in back of the temple, and he can be convened with by speaking his name over his grave. However, the tomb door is locked by six keys kept by the priests of each of the tribes in the temple. The tribes identify themselves with the colours of their clothes.

Go to Aggie in Draynor Village and have her make you 2 red dyes, 2 yellow dyes, and 2 blue dyes. Combine a yellow and red dye into orange dye and a blue and red dye into purple dye. Ask about white dye. She will tell you to bring her a Hemenster Whitefish, which can only be fished in Hemenster using slimy eels as bait. Bring a fishing rod and slimy cave eel to Hemenster (located between Seers’ Village and the Fishing Guild, where the Fishing Competition was). Fish a Hemenster Whitefish and bring it and your goblin armour to Aggie. She will dye it white. Return to the Goblin Temple and go to each of the goblin rooms. Dye your goblin armour as needed to get into the rooms. Pickpocket the priests for their keys. Bring the keys to the large door west of the High priest and open it.

Enter the large stone door. Go to the grave immediately left of the gate and speak Snothead’s name above it. Defeat Snothead and ask him what the name of his predecessor was. Go to the grave across from Snothead’s and speak the name Snailfeet over it. Defeat Snailfeet, ask him his predecessor’s name, and move to the grave on the same wall as Snothead’s. Repeat for the grave across from that, and finally the last grave. Ask Strongbones where Yu’biusk is, and he will tell you that it is on another plane; when the planes’ boundaries weaken, goblin blood will cry out to return home.

Return to Dorgesh-Kaan and go to Oldak’s house. Speak with Zanik and tell her what you learned. Oldak and Zanik will get the idea of using the Fairy Ring south of the city to go to Yu’biusk. They will teleport. Go to the southern end of the city and enter the South Dorgeshuun Dungeon. Go down the slope to the west and follow the path south, east, then north. Speak with Oldak to learn how to operate his machine. Give 9 to the outer ring, 4 to the middle ring, and 1 to the inner ring. You will be transported to Yu’biusk. Go north and attempt to open the strange box with Zanik. Zanik will vanish and you will automatically run out. You will reappear in Oldak’s room and, after a brief conversation, the quest will be complete.

NPC: Achetties (Hero’s Guild), Garrant (Port Sarim fishing store), Velrak the Explorer (Black Knights jail in Members Dungeon), Katrine (Varrock), Straven (Varrock), Trobert (Brimhaven), Gruber (Brimhaven), Grip (Brimhaven), Alfonse the Waiter (Brimhaven), Charlie the Cook (Brimhaven).

HERO’S QUEST WALKTHROUGH
To become a Hero, and worthy of entering The Hero’s Guild, you need to bring Achetties three items. One is the feather of a fire bird, the second is a cooked lava eel, and last, the Master Thief Armband. You can get these items in any order you want to. However, for the master thief armband, you will need a friend in the other gang. So if you’re in the Black Arms Gang, you will need to find someone to hook up with.
Firebird Feather: This is where you need to kill the level 102 Ice Queen, go to the bank (Catherby is best if you have done the Fishing Contest). Get out your armour, weapon, and food (and whatever you need to kill her, pots etc…), as well as a pickaxe. When you have these, head up to the White Wolf Mountain just east of Catherby. Walk north through the White Wolf Mountain and past the gnome glider, and you will come to a rock slide. If you right click on it you will have an option to mine it. After you’ve mined the slider, continue down the southern ladder there, and you will end up inside the mountain.
If you go a little west you should now see two paths, take the southern one, and climb up the ladder. Once you’re up, you’ll be faced with level 54 ice giants. Go down the eastern ladder, and run/walk all the way down the path and you will end up at another ladder, go up, and then go down the other ladder. Go north and you should eventually see the level 111 ice queen. She is extremely hard to kill, since she is in a multi-combat zone, and there are six level 53 ice warriors around there as well. Once you’ve killed her, pick up the ice gloves that she dropped.
Head all the way back, and go to Falador bank. Put all of your armour and weapons in the bank, and then head down to the Port Sarim docks, and take the boat to Entrana (the most north-eastern boat). Once on Entrana go all the way north and search the area there, you should see a little red bird named Entrana Fire Bird. It’s only level two, so you shouldn’t have a problem killing it. When it’s dead, wear your ice gloves from the Ice Queen and pick up the fire feather.
Cooked lava eel: Coming back from Entrana, you can stop by the fishing store in Port Sarim. Speak with the owner of the store, and ask him how to fish lava eels. He will give you a bottle of Blemish Snail Slime. So, head back to the bank in Falador, and get out your harralander, water filled vial, fishing rod and bait. Use the harralander and the slime with the water filled vial, and you will have Blemish Oil. Use it with the rod and you will now have the Oily Fishing Rod you need to fish the lava eels. Now its time to go down to the Members Dungeon which you will find south of Taverly.
You will need to go past some poison scorpions, bring an anti-poison. You will also come up against some nasty dragons, so bringing your trusty anti-dragon breath shield might be a good idea as well. Food and armour could help you as well. You will, of course, need your oily fishing rod, and some bait (around 10 should do it). One last thing you need is a dusty key. If you don’t have it already, read below. When you have all the things you need, head to the dungeon south of Taverly.
Dusty key: Enter the dungeon, go straight ahead until you come to a set of prison doors, open them and the suits of armour will attack you, kill them and go through the door. Head out of one of the other doors there (doesn’t really matter which), and go south-east past the black knights, magic axes, poison scorpions, and then go straight ahead into the little path going south. You should now be at some more black knights. Go through the door there and then turn east. You should now see a level 42 jailer, kill him and pick up the keys he dropped. Open the jail door to the south and talk with Velrak the Explorer. After a bit of talk, he will give you the dusty key.
In the member’s dungeon, go all the way into the lesser demons, and then use your dusty key on the door there. You’re now in a room with blue dragons. If you want, you can kill some. Go south until you get to a place with lava, there you should see three fishing spots. Fish some lava eels from one of those spots. You will need two cooked at the end, so if your cooking isn’t that high, be on the safe side and fish 10-15 of them. Go back out and cook the lava eels.
Master Thief Armband: This is where you need your partner. If you’re in the Phoenix Gang, you need a friend from the Black Arm Gang and of course the other way around as well.
Black Arm Gang: Go to your hideout in Varrock. You should find Katrine there. Talk with her a bit and she will give you the password: “four leaf clover”. Get your full black set of armour out of the bank. Head off to Brimhaven (on Karamja), and enter the house east of the pirates bar, and speak with either Trobert or Gruber there. They will give you your ID papers. Now walk west until you come to the mansion. Be sure to wear your full black armour and go in.
Once in, talk with Grip and he should give you a key; hand it over to your Phoenix partner, and then wait for your partner to get ready. Once he is ready, go back in to the mansion and open the cupboard in the northern room. Grip should now come in the room, and your partner can shoot him. Once he is dead he will drop a key. Use this key to enter the treasure room in the western room, and search around to find two candlesticks, when you have them, give one to your partner, and then you both can return to your leaders to get the armband.
Phoenix Gang: Go to your hideout in Varrock. Ask Straven about the Master Thief Armband. After a bit of talking, you should get the password: “Gherkin”. When you have it, go to your bank and withdraw some cash (100gp is enough), some arrows and a bow. You will need to kill a level 26, so bring enough arrows. When you have that, head off to Brimhaven on Karamja and meet with your Black Arm Gang friend.
Your friend will have a key for you, trade with them, and go into the bar and talk with Alfonse the Waiter and give him your password. You will now be allowed into the kitchen, talk with Charlie the Cook and he will tell you about the secret wall. It is next to the stove on the western wall, go through it, and use your key on the door across the yard there. Meanwhile, your partner should almost be ready with Grip. Stand in front of the window in the next room and shoot Grip. Your partner should now see a key; he will use it to get the two candlesticks and trade one of them with you. Return to your gang leader to get the armband.
Once you both have all three items, go back to you the Hero’s guide and talk with Achetties. This completes the quest.

Runescape FISHING CONTEST QUEST STRATEGY

Posted by: cow  //  Category: Runescape Quests

Starting location: Talk with the mountain dwarf east (or west) of the white wolfs mountain.
Quest difficulty level: Easy.
Reward: 3,255 fishing exp. You can now use the underground passage under the white wolfs mountain.
Quest points gained: 1.
Required Skills: Level 10 fishing.
Required Items: Garlic, Fishing Rod (normal, not fly fishing), 100gp and a spade (can be found in Draynor Manor).

FISHING CONTEST QUEST WALKTHROUGH
Mountain Dwarf: Ask him what goes on down the stairs, he’ll tell you that you can’t go down there, ask him why not. Then ask if he wants to be your friend, and then ask how you can earn his trust. He’ll tell you about the fishing competition and give you the pass.
Red vine worms: Go through the White Wolf Mountain, and into the woods west of Seers Village, find a way in (there’s some loose railings where you can squeeze in around the back). You’ll most likely be attacked by the level 44 guard dogs, go to the western area of the forest, and find some red vines. Check them to get some red vine worms. Three should be enough. you will need to have a spade on you to get them.
Hemenster: Now go to Hemenster and go in the gates for the competition place (just south of front-gate to the woods you were just in), speak with Bonzo, but don’t go to the willow tree as he tells you, go to the spot at the pipes instead, and try to fish. Ask Sinister why he can’t fish at one of the other places, and then use your garlic on the pipes. Sinister will now let you fish at his spot, and when you do this you’ll catch some giant carps. Catch three and Bonzo will say that you’re the winner.
Completing the Quest: Now you have the trophy, go back to the dwarf and collect your reward. The Quest is completed.

Guide to 99 Fishing, Cooking, and Firemaking

Posted by: cow  //  Category: Runescape Skills

Dedicated to Fouisgras the rs character. This is how I got to 86 fishing and 99 cooking, until jagex bansticked me for a BS reason. Enjoy the guide and to your prosparity in rs.
————————————————————————–
Fishing is the basis for all runescape money made via skills. Many will disagree, but this is my belief. With 99 fishing, one can aquire 99 cooking and much gold. With a time investment, you can achieve anything in runescape with 99 fishing.

NOTE: The calculation of these levels is rough. It all depends on how many you fish you burn, how many salmon you get compared to trout, ect, ect. There is a hidden meaning to this guide though.

THERE IS 1 GOLDEN RULE. SAVE EVERYTHING. Most of the beginning fish will be saved to gain valuable cooking exp which will save much time and money in the future! Save everything! Including those 39 shrimp from level 1-5!

Lets start off with level 1- 0exp shall we?
—————————————–
Levels 1-5= Shrimp with a small net. No brainer. I recommend south of Al Kharid Bank as there is a bank very close, and as I say above, you must save everything. You must fish 39 shrimp.

Levels 6-25= Sardines bait fishing with a fishing rod and some bait. Fairly annoying task. 39 Sardines to level 10, at which you will catch 223 Herring using the same method. Probably will be more of a mix between the herring and sardines once you hit level 10. either way it’ll be around that number.

26-55= Fly fishing is a must here. I strongly reccommend barbarian village and banking your fish at the edgeville bank to the north. To reach 30 for salmon you’ll need 111 trout. After that, you’ll need about 3k feathers to be safe. odds are you’ll only use like 2.5k of them but you’ll be catching a mixture between 2.2k salmon and 3k trout.

56-90= If you want levels and you want them fast, then the only way to go here is LOBSTERS!!! Head down to Catherby and fish lobsters to 68. At 68 you’ll make your move to your new perminate home! THE FISHING GUILD!! Where you’ll be spending what seems like eternity for the next few weeks. Continue lobsters at the guild until 90. 57,553 lobsters for this baby. GOOD NEWS! When you cook all those, and the stuff before, you’ll be around 92 cooking.

91-99= In order to finish off this hellish quest you need sharks from 91-99. Only way to do it. I wouldnt suggest sharks before this as the loads take too long and you get more exp faster with lobsters. 69,892 shark. Have fun. GOOD NEWS THOUGH! Once you cook some of those, you now have 99 cooking. And 99 fishing. Congrats. More good news! For level 99 cooking you’ll only need around 29k of those sharks, so that leaves you with around 41k sharks left to sell! If you get 900ea for these (easy to sell for 900ea), you now have 36.9mil to use up.

LETS GO GET 99 FIREMAKING EY? EASY LEVEL 99 AND A REALLY COOL CAPE!

Same as before, start level 1, 0 exp
———————————-
Levels 1-15= Get off your bum and go cut some regular trees down. Merry christmas, you now have lvl 15 fm. 61 normal logs.

16-30= Same as before, go out and cut 183 oak logs and burn them.

31-45= 535 Willow logs this time. If you have a bit of work ethic in your body go cut them yourself. If not, who cares? You have 36.9mil to use up. Go buy em or something.

46-60= Go buy 1,573 Maple logs. Not like it’s gunna burn a hole in your wallet or anything….

61-99= Your home free buddy. Go buy 63,016 yew logs for 290ea NO MORE OR CASTRATE THOSE NOOB MERCHANTS WHO PUSHED THE PRICE! Ahem….uhm yes.. go get 63,016 yew logs for 290ea costing you 18.75mil.

Congrats you have 99 Fishing, Cooking, and Firemaking and 18.15mil left. Go buy yourself a pretty hat or something.

The real reason of this guide is not to show you how to get easy 99’s. Partially because there are no easy 99’s. It was to show you what the power of a little bit of work ethic can do. If you do this, you’ve been through hell and back and you can tell people what you’ve done while they stare in amazement at your capes and your work ethic. Everyone benifits. Money, respect, and a few purdy capes. Enjoy yourself.

How to Get 99 Fishing in Runescape

Posted by: cow  //  Category: Runescape Guide

Hello, and welcome to my guide to getting 99 Fishing on Runescape. Getting to 99 Fishing is no easy accomplishment, so what ever you do, I suggest you never give up. Member and Non - Member descriptions will be give for each level increment.

Part I. Introduction

Hello again, and good luck because you are about to embark on long, and rewarding quest. Achieving 99 fishing is not going to be easy. You will need to stay strong and persevere throughout this entire goal. There will be tough times ahead, but if you do not give up, you will eventually succeed and be the envy of others in Runescape with your Achievement Cape. I wish you good luck.

Part II. Fast Experience

There are a couple of ways you can achieve 99 fishing, and one of those ways is by getting to 99 quickly with “Fast Experience.”

Levels 1 - 20

Items You’ll Need:
- Small Fishing Net

To start the long journey to 99 fishing, take your Small Fishing Net and fish shrimp. Shrimping is a fast way to get to level 20, if you stick with it for a little bit. Also, if you want an even faster way to get up to 20, try using a fishing rod on the same spots as you catch the shrimp. The fishing rod method will cost a little more because you will need to purchase bait, and it can be more time consuming if you do not already have the fishing rod and bait. Otherwise, fish shrimp until level 20. Fishing shrimp when you get to level 15, will let you catch Anchovies. Shrimp leveling should now go even faster. A nice shrimping place is in a place called Draynor Village because of the bank near the fishing spot.

Levels 20 - 30

Items You’ll Need:
- Fly fishing rod
- Feathers

As soon as you reach level 20, fly fishing for trout until level 30 in a river is the fastest method for experience. Do not bother with the pike because you will not catch them fast enough to get fast experience.

Non - Member Areas:

Location 1: Lumbridge
