Money making guide/Stronghold

Posted by: runescape  //  Category: Beginners' Guide

Players of any level can easily negotiate the Stronghold of Player Safety between Barbarian Village and Edgeville in the Misthalin Training Centre of Excellence, all of the monsters en route to the end are non-aggressive. Upon the completion of the miniquest, players are rewarded with two skill lamps (each lamp is worth 500xp and can be applied to any skill regardless of level), 10,000 coins, Safety gloves and the Safety first emote.

It is tricky to navigate through the Stronghold of Player Safety, but the rewards are great. The high level monsters drop large numbers of runes and ore including mithril ore (noted) 3, and adamantite ore (noted) 1.

The reward may only be received once per player, however, if a player loses/drops their Safety gloves they can come back to the chest for a new pair.

Once completed, the Cockroach soldiers (level 83) drop Rune scimitars, Rune sq shields and dragon spears. They frequently drop crimson charms, which are used in summoning. They also offer decent training for higher levelled players.

edit Stronghold of Security

Rating: *****

If players are brave enough, they can attempt the Stronghold of Security in Barbarian Village. Food is recommended for players at all levels and even more for low-level players. (Note: For players with 100-150 lifepoints, Lobsters or higher are recommended). Raw trout and salmon are usually dropped by powerfishers near the Barbarian Village on most worlds.

After players have had their account recovery questions set and proceed through all four levels in the Stronghold, they will be awarded 10,000 coins and either; the Fancy boots, which are rainbow coloured, or the Fighting boots which have spikes on the end. Both of these boots have the same stats, so either pair is fine and based solely on preference. A good idea is to go to a busy f2p world, go to the trout/salmon area as many people will want to give the fish for free. If this is done correctly, a level 3 skiller can get the reward without dying once. Low level players are recommended to eat a food that heals 80+ lifepoints on the last floor because the monsters there can hit a maximum of 80 there accurately.

  • This reward cannot be collected if you already have a pair. The boots may also be swapped at any time.
  • The monsters in the dungeon get stronger as players descend from level to level, and are aggressive beginning with the second level. There are some “safe” spots on all levels where players can wait to recover their run energy and eat to restore their hitpoints before they proceed further.
  • Some lower levelled monsters that are good to train on in the Security Stronghold include Zombies and Minotaurs. The zombies constantly drop steel arrows, body runes, and gems. The minotaurs drop iron arrows and noted rune essence and level 1 treasure trails clue scrolls(m) or pure essence (members only) which can add up in time.
  • There have been reports that the random event occurrences tend to be increased in the stronghold, so training for a long time will increase the chances of getting gems and other random event items.
  • Players may bank all their items and just sprint through each level to get the rewards easily.
  • For members, once completed, the Flesh crawlers often drop high levelled herbs, which can be gathered and sold for a tidy sum.
  • Another popular monster are level 82 Ankous found in the lowest level. These commonly drop death and blood runes along with adamant arrows. Additionally members sometimes will receive a level 3 treasure trails clue scroll as a drop.

Runescape HAUNTED MINE QUEST STRATEGY

Posted by: cow  //  Category: Runescape Quests

Starting location: Speak with Zealot in the Mines in Morytania, located south-west of Mort’ton.
Quest difficulty level: Medium.
Reward: 22.000 strength exp. and the crystal to make a Salve Amulet (just use a string of wool on the crystal), which increases your attack and strength with 15% when fighting the undead. It also gives you +3 defence to all.
Quest points gained: 2.
Required Skills: Level 15 Agility, 35 Crafting and ability to defeat a level 95 enemy. Protect from Missiles (level 40 prayer) recommended.
Required Items: Chisel and Food. Prayer and super energy potion(s) recommended. As always when fighting high level monsters, dragon amulet, ring of duelling or other means of teleportation is a good idea.
Monsters: Treus Dayth (level 95).
NPC: Zealot (Quest start in the Mines in Morytania, located south-west of Mort’ton).

HAUNTED MINE QUEST WALKTHROUGH
Zealot: After speaking with Zealot (telling him that you are a follower of Saradomin), pickpocket him to get the key he didn’t want to give you when speaking to him. Go south and you should come to a mining cart, climb over it and follow the road and you’ll come to the entrance of the mine (Cart tunnel).
The crazy mining cart: Once inside, work your way west until you see another cart tunnel, go out, head south and go in the other tunnel. You should now see a ladder a little east of you. Go down and head east, you should see another ladder here, go down that, and look at your mini-map. You should see a yellow dot, this is a mine cart moving around, be careful and don’t get hit by it as it’ll do damage to you. It’s a good idea to have run on now, there’s some ’safe spots’ where you can stand while the cart moves on the track, stand here until the cart is far enough away for you to make it to the next safe spot. At the end of the track you’ll find a ladder, go down.
The levers: As you make your way north through the cave, pick a glowing fungus. Go north-west and you should come to a mine cart with a ’search’ option. Use your fungus on this. Now go a little north-east and you should find some levers. Examine them all, and Pull A, B, D and E, and then head north-west, past the points settings board, and you should find the levers F-K, here you pull I and J. If you fail, make sure you pick a new fungus and place it in the cart (You fail when your cart sinks).
Back up and down again: Now head all the way back to the first level of the cave, and go down the ladder right before the place where you went out of the cave. Go north-east and down the ladder there. Go west, and down the ladder there, and you should see the mine cart from before. Search it to find the fungus, and then go back up the ladder. Head east, and make your way to the ladder going down, watch out though, there’s another cart moving around there. When you’re down there, take the eastern road, and you should end up at a water valve. Make sure you have 80%+ energy left, and then use the Zealot’s Key on the valve, after this, run into the lift and go down.
Treus Dayth: You should now be plunged in a chamber filled with water. Go east and down the stairs and prepare for the final fight. In the middle of the room there’s a crate with an ‘innocent looking key’ on it. Try to take this and you’ll be attacked. Put protection from missiles on to protect you from the flying axes, and hunt Treus Dayth down. Go through the east door, up the stairs, west until you get to another set of stairs, go down. There’s a large door on the south side, go in, and head south-east until you find some crystal outcrop. Use your chisel to cut some and you’ve completed the quest.

Runescape FAMILY CREST QUEST STRATEGY

Posted by: cow  //  Category: Runescape Quests

Starting location: Talk to Dimintheis in a hut near the east bank in Varrock.
Quest difficulty level: Hard.
Reward: Steel Gauntlets.
Quest points gained: 1.
Required Skills: Level 40 Mining, 40 Smithing, 59 Magic and 40 Crafting.
Required Items: Pickaxe, cooked shrimp, cooked salmon, cooked tuna, cooked bass, cooked swordfish, runes for the 4 blast spells and an antipoison.
Monsters: Chronozon (level 170).

FAMILY CREST QUEST WALKTHROUGH
First Son: He is the cook in Catherby, he will tell you that the brothers have broken the crest into 3 pieces, and that for his piece you must bring him some cooked fish, what you need is Shrimp, Salmon, Tuna, Bass and Swordfish, after you’ve given him that, he’ll give you his part of the crest.
Second Son: This is the gem trader in Al-Kharid. He will tell you to speak with a man in the Scorpion Chasm (also called scorpion pit, its the mining field north of his location). He will ask you to make some jewellery from him of the purest gold. You will now have to go to the Dwarven Mines and have a word with Boot. He’s past the anvils to the west.
The dungeon: After talking with Boot you’ll know the location of the gold mine. It’s a dungeon east of Ardougne. There will be a few low level monsters there, nothing too hard. First go to the north wall and pull that lever up, then the south room and pull that lever up, back to the north wall and pull the lever down, then go in the north room and pull that lever up, go outside and pull the lever on the north wall up, and then last you’ll need to go to the south room and pull that lever down. Now you’ll be able to go into the cage, and mine some gold. Mine 2 ores.
Jewellery: Now that you have two gold, it shouldn’t be a problem to make the ruby ring and necklace. Go back to the man in the scorpion pit, and give him the jewels. You should now have the second piece of the crest.
Last brother: Go to the Jolly Boar Inn north of Varrock. Speak with him and give him some poison antidote and he’ll tell you where the last piece of the crest is.
How to kill the demon: After you’ve spoken with the last brother, go to the Edgeville dungeon and make sure you have the runes for the four blast spells. You’ll have to kill the level 139 demon called Chronozon. To do this you’ll have to fight him normally, but also hit him with the four blast spells, or else he won’t die. He will drop the last crest piece.
Note: The spells have to do damage! If they don’t hit him, he will not drop the crest piece.
Completing the Quest: Put the three pieces together and go back to Dimintheis. He will give you some steel gauntlets, and tell you to visit the brothers to give the gauntlets powers. Cooking Gauntlet (at the first son) will make you burn less food. Crafting Gauntlet (at the second son) will give you more experience when crafting gold, or Magic Gauntlet (at the third son) which makes you hit harder when using magic.

Runescape EASTER EGGS

EASTER EGGS
One:
On the 4th of April 2005 Jagex added in “Dragon Plates” If you speak to Diango in Draynor village he said that these plates were meant to come on Friday (1st of April) but they were held up by pirates because they thought they were some kind of armour, but they are infact Plates with a dragon on them.
Two: On Runescape 2 in any members world, you may be one of the lucky people to see Bob, he is a cat based on a real cat they keep in the Jagex office over in England(according to Mod Daniel), and he can be seen anywhere in Runescape and when it examines it says, “The Jagex Cat” Every time the system updates, he is reset back to the garden in Burthorpe, where he once again starts his journey across the land of Runescape

Three: Go to Karajama Island. Go past the banana grove until you get to the scorpions. When you get there, go down the ladder and pass the skeletons. You will find red spider eggs. You need to be at least over level 30.
Four: Kill high level monsters such as White Knight, Ice Giants, etc. on October 31 to receive Halloween masks. There are three different colors.
Five: Kill high level monsters such as White Knight, Ice Giants, etc. on December 25 to receive a Santa hat.
Six: Use any herring with any tree on RuneScape. You will get the message “This is not the mightiest tree in the forest.” This is a reference to ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’, where the Knights’ Who No Longer Say Ni demand “Find the mightiest tree in the forest and cut it down with—A Herring!”

Beginner’s Guide to Runescape

Posted by: runescape  //  Category: Beginners' Guide

Runescape is a massive online web-based RPG that has caught a lot of interest over the past few years. It has grown tremendously, and it should have, because it’s a great game. If your new to it, then keep reading this guide will talk you through how to make a good start on the game, and give you a taste of what the game has to offer. Read on.

You start on Tutorial Island, here, you’ll learn all the basics of combat, cooking, fishing, fire making a lot of the skills basically. The tutorials on the island are very interactive, so you’ll learn most of the basics on that. What’s important though, is once you get off Tutorial Island what do you do? Where do you go? All is explained in this guide.

Once you get off Tutorial Island, you end up in Lumbridge, the starting village of Runescape. Here you’ll find a lot of low level monsters for you to kill, and collect loot off – gold pieces, feathers, bones, the lot but are you looking for a better way to start off? Being an experienced player, I would suggest that you actually look to expertise in one skill for now, and really push your development on that one skill. For example, a good skill to start with is mining. It’s requirements are very basic, all you need is a pickaxe, and the right mining area. You’ll be supplied with a pickaxe so there’s no need to worry about that.

Mining is very interesting. You gain experience in mining dependant on the ores you mine. You receive a certain amount of experience every time you mine that type of ore, and as your levels increase, you’re able to mine a much larger variety of ores.

The reason why mining is a good skill to start off with, is because you can combine it with smithing, the skill of making armours in order to make yourself your first set of armour. Plus, once you get to about level 30 mining, you can make quite a lot of money through the mining of iron and coal as they both sell for a nice amount each.

To start off mining, just make sure you’ve got your pickaxe in your inventory (or you can equip it by clicking on it in your inventory), and head off down to the nearest mines. The nearest mines from Lumbridge and one of the best to start off in, in my own opinion is the south-east Varrock mines. Just head north from Lumbridge (cross the bridge) and you should hit Varrock pretty soon (it’s best if you open up the World Map that Runescape provides you above the gaming screen). If you haven’t already, deposit all items (there is a bank in Varrock) you’ve got in your inventory except your pickaxe (if you haven’t equipped it) and head off to the mines.

Start off by mining copper, and then once you hit the appropriate level, move onto more challenging ores like iron. If you want more information on mining ores, and the level requirements to mine them along with the different level requirements for using different pickaxes, check out this page.
