Getting Started

To start this adventure, talk to the Guild Master who can be found in the Champions’ Guild. The guild can be found by following the map above.

Ask him about the rune platemail.

Finding Oziach

Oziach can be found in Edgeville. Follow the map above, and he can be found in his house that has a yellow circle surrounding it.

Tell Oziach that the Guild Master told you about him, and the rune platemail. Oziach wants you to prove yourself, by slaying the legendary Elvarg the Dragon. Ask if there is anything you need, and Oziach recommends an anti-dragon shield. Dragons breathe harmful fire, of course! This mother dragon called Elvarg can be found on Crandor Isle, but you will need a map to follow to know how to get there. The map has been torn into 3 pieces, which you will need to find. Oziach will now tell you that the Guild Master has the key to Melzar’s Maze. Find your way back to the start of the quest and talk to the Guild Master. He will give you a maze key!

The Anti-Dragon Shield

To fight a dangerous dragon, you will need a good shield to protect you from the dangerous fire breath. Duke Horacio of Lumbridge has the anti-dragon shield that you will need. To get to Lumbridge, easily cast the Home Teleport spell and you will arrive at the courtyard of the castle. The Duke is located on the second floor of his castle. After a chat, you will receive the anti-dragon shield. Take care of it.

Melzar’s Map Piece

This is the hardest map piece to obtain, as it requires a killing powerful demon. Come prepared with some decent food like lobsters, swordfish or tuna, some good armour and a decent weapon. If you have a high enough magic level, bringing teleport runes will ensure your safety. You do not need the anti dragon shield to fight the demon.

Now that you are prepared with your equipment, it’s time to get the map piece. The map piece is found in Melzar’s Maze, and you’ll need the Maze Key that was given to you earlier by Oziach to enter the maze. The maze can be found by following the map above. Once you arrive, use the maze key with the door to enter. If you have lost your maze key, return to the Guild Master and ask him for another.

Now, you’ll need to kill the giant rats in the room until one of them drops a red key. Once you have the red key, use it with the door in the northwest corner of the room and climb the ladder.

Next, kill the ghosts until they drop an orange key. Once the key is dropped, pick it up and use it on the door second from the north on the east wall. Head up the ladder in the small room after opening the door.

After that, kill the skeletons until they drop a yellow key, which you’ll need to use to open the southwest door. Next, head down the next three ladders.

Finally, you’ll enter a room with several zombies. Begin to kill zombies until they drop a blue key. Use the key with the blue painted door and you will enter a new room.

A level-43 Melzar the Mad will attack you, and he will say all sorts of very funny things. Once he is dead, get prepared for the hardest battle. Once you’re ready, use the key dropped by Melzar with the door and slay the level-82 lesser demon.

It will drop a green key, which you can use on the last door. Now, open and search the chest to obtain the first map piece! Congratulations!

Thelzar’s Map Piece

The holder of the second map piece is the Oracle, who can be found on Ice Mountain (see the above map). The Oracle’s location is the yellow circle. Once you arrive, bring up the subject of the map piece.

She says you’ll need several items in order to enter a room with the map piece inside. The following items are needed:

Wizard’s Mind Bomb - bought from the Falador pub for 3gp.
Lobster Pot - bought from the fishing shops in Port Sarim and Catherby.
Unfired Bowl - made by using soft clay on a pottery wheel and selecting bowl.
Silk - it costs 32gp in a General Store, 2gp from the Silk Trader in Al Kharid if you haggle, and 30gp from the Clothing Store in Varrock.
Once you have retrieved the items, head over into the Dwarven Mines, which can be seen on the map above. Climb down the ladder and go to the door that is in front of the room circled in yellow. Now use each of the items with the door until you only have just a beer glass left. Now you can enter the room.

Enter the room.

Open and search the chest, and you will have Thelzar’s map piece! Congratulations!

Lozar’s Map Piece

We’ve saved the easiest for last! Lozar’s Map Piece requires you simply to have 10,000gp if you don’t have level-31 Magic or higher. Alternatively, if you have level-33 Magic or higher, you’ll need one law rune and one air rune. If you magic level is 31 or 32, bring a Wizard’s Mind Bomb to help boost your magic level. If you are not paying the 10,000gp, items for magic or ranged attacks are needed. Once you have all the required items, head to the Port Sarim jail. Following the map below will bring you there.

Once you get there, go to the third cell south and you will see Wormbrain.

If you have brought magic or range attack and your telekinetic grab runes (with a wizards’ mind bomb if your magic level is 31 or 32), start shooting your spells or arrows at Wormbrain until he is dead. Once he is finished off, cast your telekinetic grab spell then click on the map piece. Congratulations!

If you have brought 10,000gp, simply talk to Wormbrain and buy the map piece for a hefty price of 10,000 coins! Congratulations!

The Boat

Now that you’ve retrieved all of the Crandor map pieces, you need a boat to get to the Island! You need to go back to the Guildmaster. He is in the Champions’ Guild, where you started this quest. Klarense in Port Sarim (where you found Wormbrain) is the answer to your prayers. Follow the map below and Klarense is in the yellow circle.

Talk to him about buying the boat, and he will put a 2,000gp price tag on the boat.

Accept, and the boat is yours! Climb aboard the boat and go below deck and you will see a big hole. It needs to be fixed. To fix the hole you need the following items:

3 planks - planks can be found in the Graveyard of Shadows, which is in level-19 wilderness. They can also be obtained by taking a log with some coins to the Sawmill Operator northeast of Varrock, or picked up on Entrana.
90 steel nails - these can be smithed with a steel bar, or bought from other players.
Once you have obtained those items, go back to the boat with them. Use each plank on the hole and the boat will be fixed! Well done! The Lady Lumbridge is now ready to set sail!

Kitting Up and Going to Crandor

If you use the map pieces with each other, they will turn into a Crandor map. For this next part, you’ll need to talk to Ned, who can be found in his house in Draynor Village.

By following the map above you will be able to find Ned. After talking to him, he’ll take your map and will meet you at the Lady Lumbridge.

Now, you need to prepare your equipment for killing the dragon. Here is a detailed list of things you will need to fight Elvarg:

A combat level of at least 40-50.
An inventory similar to this:

Lobsters or swordfish to heal big amounts of damage. The dragon can hit up to 10 damage! A strength potion is optional but will really help you. You could also bring some emergency teleport runes incase something goes wrong.
Equipment similar to this:

The rune armour can be replaced with adamant armour, as can the weapon. An amulet of power and strength will help a lot, too. Bringing a cape will also provide a small, yet precious, defense bonus. Do not forget the anti-dragon shield, or you are as good as dead! Here is a picture of somebody who forgot their shield:

Note: You can use the dragonfire shield (members only) as well.
Once you’re all kitted up, head to Ned at the Lady Lumbridge. Go below the deck and you will set sail for Crandor! Unfortunately, the dragon will attack the boat with fire breath and kill Cabin Boy Jenkins!

You will be forced to run away, and will wash up on Crandor. Ned appears to be missing, too!

Now, make your way to the cave entrance by following the map below.

Note: If you have fixed the boat and crashed it, you can use the shortcut wall under the Karamja Volcano. It is a much faster way to get to the dragon again if you die.

Once you’ve headed down into the volcano, go southeast for a while until you see a wall.

Now is the time to take a dose of strength potion, if you have one. Wield your anti dragon shield and activate prayers, such as ultimate strength and protection from melee or magic. The dragon uses a mixture of both. Once you’re ready, head into the area and start attacking Elvarg. Don’t let your hitpoints get too low!

After a long battle, Elvarg will hopefully be defeated. If it’s the latter, you will cut off the dragon’s head. You’ll need to find your way back to Oziach, and after talking to him, congratulations, quest complete!

18,650 experience in Strength and Defense.
Ability to wear a rune platemail and dragon leatherbody once you reach the requirements (40 defense for platemail, 40 ranged and defense for the leatherbody).
2 Quest Points
Rune Platemail

Upon completion of the quest, you will have the ability to buy and wield the rune platemail. You can buy it cheap from players or expensive from Oziach for 84,500gp! As you can see, the platemail’s stats are quite impressive!

Green Dragonhide Body

As well as the rune platemail, the green dragonhide body can be worn upon completion of this adventure. As the stats below clearly state, dragonhide provides excellent magic protection. You can buy a green dragonhide body from Oziach, or from another player.

Money making guide/Fishing

Posted by: runescape  //  Category: Beginners' Guide
Effectiveness Fishing level requirement Details Other requirements/fishing equipment
***** Level 5 Sardines sell for about 34 coins each if raw, and around 4 coins when cooked. These can be fished from the Catherby shore, the southern shore of Al-Kharid, and Draynor Village.
***** level 10 Herring sells for about 42 coins each if raw, and around 14 coins when cooked. However while fishing these sardines are also caught, worth half as much. These are fished in the same spots as sardines.
***** Level 15 Catch anchovies in the same spot as herring and sardine with a small net. Anchovies sell for about 60 coins each, while the cooked versions sell for 59 coins each. Shrimp is adviseably dropped being worth much less than anchovies.
***** Level 35 Tuna can be caught at level 35 fishing in either Catherby or the Fishing Guild. . They sell for 146 when cooked, and 170 when raw. Also the higher your agility the more chance you have of catching two Tuna at a time.
***** Level 38 At this level, cave eel are caught in the same spots as slimy eel. Raw cave eels sell for 437 coins each, while cooked they sell for 222.
***** Level 40 Fishing lobsters is a popular way to make money for both free-to-play members and lower level pay-to-play members. There are two popular places to catch them; Karamja or Catherby. Caught at Karamja, bank is quick in TzHaar city, caught in Catherby, Catherby bank is close. One other place is Jatizso. You need to start Fremennik isles quest but it is really close to a bank and is most of the time unpopulated.
***** Level 50 At this level Swordfish may be caught and sold for 575 when cooked and 575 when raw. Tuna, however, is caught with them. Locations include Catherby, Fishing Guild, or Jatizso(completion of The Fremennik Trials required) Also the higher your agility the more chance you have of catching two swordfish at a time.
***** Level 62 Monkfish are found at the Piscatoris Fishing Colony. They tend to be caught faster than sharks, even at high levels, and sell for around 598 coins each when raw, and about 653 coins when cooked. In an hour, 250-320 monkfish are caught, depending on Fishing level. See this monkfish analysis for a breakdown of efficiency. Swan Song completed
***** Level 65 At this level Raw karambwan may be fished, which are worth 640 coins each. Keep in mind that the Karambwan will sometimes steal the bait from the vessel. If this happens often, it lowers profit. Tai Bwo Wannai Trio completed
***** Level 76 At this level sharks may be fished. Sharks are caught fairly slowly even at high levels, so it is advisable not to fish them with a fishing level lower than about 80. Raw sharks sell for around 1,477 coins each, and cooked sharks fetch for about 1,640 coins each. At 95+ Fishing 1,000 sharks are caught in 7 hours or less; on average, only about 150 sharks can be caught in an hour, even with 99 fishing. It is still arguable that this is the best conventional method of making money by fishing except possibly Rocktail fishing. Also the higher your agility the more chance you have of catching two sharks at a time. 80 Cooking (optional)
***** Level 81+ The Fishing Trawler minigame provides Manta rays and/or sea turtles from level 81 if the boat lasts 10 minutes without sinking.  Unlike other fish, cooked sea turtles and manta rays fetch higher prices than their raw counterparts. Cooked manta rays can sell for about 3,387 coins each while cooked sea turtles sell for about 3,029 coins. If the boat doesn’t sink, normally approximately 20 manta rays are acquired, leading to 60,000gp every 10 minutes. This is only if the player is with a good team, the boat not sinking. 91 cooking (optional)
*****150k-200k/hr Level 85 The Living Rock Caverns is an area in the dwarven mines where high level fishers and miners can train their skills. At level 85, you are able to catch a new type of fish - Cavefish. To catch this fish, you will need normal fishing bait and good armour to defend yourself from aggressive high-level rock creatures. A raw cavefish has a market price of 1478 gold pieces and a cooked cavefish sells for 1577 gold pieces. You can gain 40,000-50,000 experience per hour fishing Cavefish and 150,000-200,000 cash. 88 Cooking (optional)
*****250k/hr Level 90 Just like Cavefish, you can catch another high levelled fish in the Living Rock Caverns - Rocktail. To catch this fish, you will need some bait called Living Minerals. The market price of living minerals is currently 265gp (1 April 2010). Again, you will need some good armour to defend yourself from the aggressive living rock creatures. The market price for raw rocktail is 2547gp and the price for cooked rocktail is 2517gp. This is much faster experience per hour than lobsters and monkfish, reaching to 60,000 xp/h maximum. You are able to make over 250,000 gold pieces per hour using this method. 93 Cooking (optional)

Money making guide/Stronghold

Posted by: runescape  //  Category: Beginners' Guide

Players of any level can easily negotiate the Stronghold of Player Safety between Barbarian Village and Edgeville in the Misthalin Training Centre of Excellence, all of the monsters en route to the end are non-aggressive. Upon the completion of the miniquest, players are rewarded with two skill lamps (each lamp is worth 500xp and can be applied to any skill regardless of level), 10,000 coins, Safety gloves and the Safety first emote.

It is tricky to navigate through the Stronghold of Player Safety, but the rewards are great. The high level monsters drop large numbers of runes and ore including mithril ore (noted) 3, and adamantite ore (noted) 1.

The reward may only be received once per player, however, if a player loses/drops their Safety gloves they can come back to the chest for a new pair.

Once completed, the Cockroach soldiers (level 83) drop Rune scimitars, Rune sq shields and dragon spears. They frequently drop crimson charms, which are used in summoning. They also offer decent training for higher levelled players.

edit Stronghold of Security

Rating: *****

If players are brave enough, they can attempt the Stronghold of Security in Barbarian Village. Food is recommended for players at all levels and even more for low-level players. (Note: For players with 100-150 lifepoints, Lobsters or higher are recommended). Raw trout and salmon are usually dropped by powerfishers near the Barbarian Village on most worlds.

After players have had their account recovery questions set and proceed through all four levels in the Stronghold, they will be awarded 10,000 coins and either; the Fancy boots, which are rainbow coloured, or the Fighting boots which have spikes on the end. Both of these boots have the same stats, so either pair is fine and based solely on preference. A good idea is to go to a busy f2p world, go to the trout/salmon area as many people will want to give the fish for free. If this is done correctly, a level 3 skiller can get the reward without dying once. Low level players are recommended to eat a food that heals 80+ lifepoints on the last floor because the monsters there can hit a maximum of 80 there accurately.

  • This reward cannot be collected if you already have a pair. The boots may also be swapped at any time.
  • The monsters in the dungeon get stronger as players descend from level to level, and are aggressive beginning with the second level. There are some “safe” spots on all levels where players can wait to recover their run energy and eat to restore their hitpoints before they proceed further.
  • Some lower levelled monsters that are good to train on in the Security Stronghold include Zombies and Minotaurs. The zombies constantly drop steel arrows, body runes, and gems. The minotaurs drop iron arrows and noted rune essence and level 1 treasure trails clue scrolls(m) or pure essence (members only) which can add up in time.
  • There have been reports that the random event occurrences tend to be increased in the stronghold, so training for a long time will increase the chances of getting gems and other random event items.
  • Players may bank all their items and just sprint through each level to get the rewards easily.
  • For members, once completed, the Flesh crawlers often drop high levelled herbs, which can be gathered and sold for a tidy sum.
  • Another popular monster are level 82 Ankous found in the lowest level. These commonly drop death and blood runes along with adamant arrows. Additionally members sometimes will receive a level 3 treasure trails clue scroll as a drop.

Runescape THRONE OF MISCELLANIA QUEST STRATEGY

Posted by: cow  //  Category: Runescape Quests

Starting location: King Vargas, in the Miscellania Castle - take the ship from Rellekka.
Quest difficulty level: Medium.
Reward: 10000gp and rule over the kingdom of Miscellania.
Managing your kingdom: Now that you have a loyal following of workers, you can get them to work for you. Talk to Ghrim and he’ll give you a book with information on running the kingdom. You can add and withdraw coins from the Kingdom’s coffers, and this will be used to pay the townsfolk for their labour. You can allocate the labourers to woodcutting (maple), mining (coal), fishing (tuna, swordfish and lobsters) or herb gardening (gives various herbs)
Every 24 hours, you’ll be able to collect the fruits of their labour. Obviously, if you’re more popular with the community they’ll work harder.
Quest points gained: 1.
Required Quests: Hero’s Quest and The Fremennik Trials.
Required Skills: It’s an advantage to have either level 35 herblore or level 45 woodcutting.
Required Items: Some GP, Iron bar, Log, Flowers, Ring (any,) Male Characters will need a bow (any), and female characters will need a normal cake (not chocolate - and you might want to bring a spare one just in case you eat it.) Depending on your skills, you will need one of: Pickaxe, Axe (Hatchet), Harpoon, Lobster pot, Silver Sickle.
NPC: King Vargas, Advisor Ghrim, Queen Sigrid, Prince Brand, Derrik (blacksmith,) Garderner Gunnhild, Lumberjack Leif, Fisherman Frodi, Miner Magnus. If your character is male, you’ll also have to speak with Princess Astrid.
THRONE OF MISCELLANIA QUEST WALKTHROUGH
Rumours have been coming back from Miscellania that all is not well, it is said that the king has been turned into a monster. An exceptional hero is required to investigate. Experience in ruling kingdoms, wooing royalty and negotiating peace would be an advantage.
Before you start, don’t kill any of the Miscellania residents, or you’ll pay the price later. It’s suspected thieving from them may also lower your popularity too.
Take the boat from Rellekka to Miscellania, make your way to the castle and attempt to enter the throne room. The guard will question you, but tell him you’re a member of the Hero’s guild and he’ll let you pass. Talk to the king and he’ll tell you of his plight. He needs a new ruler for the kingdom. In order for you to rise to this position, you need to negotiate peace with Etceteria and marry into the royal family.
Throughout the course of the quest, the king’s advisor, Ghrim, is very helpful. If you’re ever stuck, talk to him and he’ll give you information.
Negotiating peace with Etceteria: To negotiate peace with Etceteria, go and talk to their queen. After waffling a bit about her problems, she’ll eventually tell you that King Vargas doesn’t recognise Etceteria as a sovereign nation. Go back and talk to the king and he’ll inform you that Etceteria’s anthem is insulting and they have to change it. Go back to the queen and she’ll tell you to find a bard to compose a new anthem. Is so happens that King Vargas’ son, Prince brand thinks he’s a bit musical, so talk to him and he’ll give you an anthem. Turns out he’s not really very musical at all - show the queen the anthem and she’ll tell you it’s pathetic. So, take it to the ever helpful Advisor Ghrim and he’ll fix you up a better one.
Take this to Queen Sigrid and she’ll be pleased with it. She’ll give you a treaty for the King to sign. So, go back to the king and show him the treaty. Unfortunately, his hands are so malformed that he can no longer hold a pen. To the north east you’ll find a blacksmith - Derrik, who’s willing to make you a nib for a larger pen. Give him the iron bar you have and then use your log with the nib. Take the pen back to King Vargas and he’ll sign the treaty.
Marrying into the royal family: Male characters must woo the beautiful Princess Astrid, while females are chasing after the fetching Prince brand. For those of you unfamiliar with such practices, it’s not as hard as you might think - and there’s no need to be nervous either. Talk lots, and if you get stuck, go and talk with Advisor Ghrim.
For ladies: Talk to the Prince, compliment him, laugh at his jokes, tell him what he wants to hear. When you start repeating yourself, give him some flowers. Flowers can be purchased from the flower girl’s small hut. Once you’ve given him the flowers, speak some more, then compliment him on his musical ability. Do whatever he wants - dance for him and clap. Once things start to repeat again, give him some cake - he’s got a bit of a sweet tooth. Continue talking; once he starts calling you darling blow him a kiss. Continue chatting and blowing kisses, and then offer him your ring. If at any stage he says “you’re getting a bit ahead of yourself’ then just keep talking to him and praising him.
For gentlemen: Princess Astrid loves to talk. So do so. It’s pretty obvious what’s the ‘good’ stuff to say. When she talks about dancing - do so. Chat some more - when you run out of stuff to say, give her a bow as a present - she’s a bit of a ranger so she’ll be very pleased with it. Continue chin wagging and give her some flowers. (Flowers can be purchased from the flower girl.) Continue talking, agreeing with her, until she calls you dear, at this point - blow her a kiss. She’ll giggle. Chat some more and then ask for her hand in marriage by presenting her with the ring.
Gaining the support of the people: In order for you to ascend to the throne, you must be accepted by the people. Originally, you will begin with 25% support, (unless you’ve been killing the locals.) To gain support, you must assist the locals in their activities.
You can do one or more of the following:
Assist Lumberjack Leif by chopping maple trees (requires hatchet)
Assist Fisherman Frodi by catching Tuna, Swordfish and Lobsters (requires lobster pot or harpoon)
Assist Miner Magnus by mining coal (requires pickaxe)
Assist Gardener Gunnhild in the herb garden (requires silver sickle, or 15gp to purchase an iron one)
As your popularity grows, you can check it with Advisor Ghrim. Once you reach 75% popularity, speak to the King and he’ll inform you that the population would be honoured to have you as their ruler. A ceremony will take place and you’ll complete the quest.
