Advisors

Posted by: runescape  //  Category: Beginners' Guide

Once you are out and about in Lumbridge, you can call on Roddeck - a useful gentleman who is happy to offer his advice - at any time with one click of the advisor button. This button is situated to the left of the logout button.

Clicking on this question mark icon will open up the advisor system: a list of every subject that Roddeck feels you would be interested in, based on where you are, what you are doing, your current levels and even what you are holding. Roddeck knows a great deal about a variety of subjects, from skills to combat, money-making to banking, gaining health to burying bones; often it is worth just browsing the advice he offers to build up a full and comprehensive knowledge of the early game.

The advice that Roddeck offers comes in four separate forms. The first is from the man himself: by clicking on “Ask Roddeck for advice” you will get some succinct words from Roddeck about your chosen subject. These will most often be direct answers to the questions highlighted in yellow in the Advisors System.

You will also be able to “Read more on the website”, which will open a separate tab in your browser. On this tab you will find the relevant Knowledge Base page for that subject, offering more comprehensive advice, should you need it.

You can access tutorials, which will take you through, step-by-step, how to perform a particular action; for example, “Tutorial: Using the bank” will guide you to a nearby bank and then show you how to deposit and withdraw a leaflet. The tutorials can only be accessed in the starting area.

Finally, Roddeck will offer to plot an arrow to a nearby and useful area. If you are after somewhere to mine, fish or simply get some free stuff, an arrow will appear both on your minimap and your world map, directing you to a suitable area.

Once you have finished receiving advice from Roddeck, simply click on the ‘x’ at the top-right of the interface and continue to explore!

King of the Dwarves

Posted by: cow  //  Category: runescape news

“No band of petty councillors can preserve this city through its darkest days — only a king.”

Those are the words of the Azdaran Fragment, the oldest surviving document in the history of Keldagrim. Keldagrim’s Age of Kings came to an end centuries ago, and even the last king’s statue now bears the face of one of Keldagrim’s current rulers, the Consortium of Mining Companies. But there are still those who would see a return to the Age of Kings — and even more who simply want the Consortium removed from power, without regard for what would come afterwards.

Is the Azdaran Fragment simply a statement of its writers’ beliefs, or will it prove to be a grim prophecy? Facing unrest within the city and enemies outside it, can the Consortium cling to power — and if not, what will replace it? Join Veldaban and new allies as you attempt to answer a long-ignored question: who is the King of the Dwarves?

Party Pete is taking his infamous drop parties on tour, in celebration of RuneScape’s 10th Anniversary. You’ll be able to get two new items from these drop parties - a 10th Anniversary cake and candles - though you can also get these from monster drops around Misthalin and Asgarnia.

If you are poisoned, clicking on the life points status globe next to the minimap will cause you to cast the Cure Me spell (provided you are using the Lunar spellbook, have the necessary runes and don’t have an anti-poison potion).

The pre-purchase info displayed for items in shops and at the Grand Exchange will now list damage absorption statistics.

The Christmas 2010 event has now been removed from the game.

Runescape Bank space and game tweaks

Posted by: runescape  //  Category: Beginners' Guide

Need a break from the harsh world of furniture building? Try reading the May edition of the Postbag from the Hedge instead. In this issue we look carefully at how the lizards around the minimap got hired, ask Glough what he’s up to, take pictures of evil penguins, give fashion coach bags tips to zombies and much more besides…

Game tweaks

We have added 3 more rows of bank space to the game for members only. This now gives you a grand total of 376 slots to store your stuff!

As a result of adding another skill to the game, you’ll have noticed that we had to change the layout of some of the interfaces.
Your combat level is now shown on the Combat interface where you select your combat style.
Your number of quest points is shown on the Quest list interface, right at the top.

More plank spawns have been added around the world.

A small number of Teak and Mahogany trees have been added to the Kharazi Jungle, Ape Atoll, Uzer and the woodland just south of Castle Wars.
Please note: Miscellanian resources and the Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup minigame remain effective ways to collect these valuable logs.

Mort’ton general store now sells timber beams instead of planks. Timber beams can now be used in place of planks to build the Flamtaer Temple.

TOKTZ-KET-DILL QUEST WALKTHROUGH

Speak to the guards outside the collapsed tunnel to discover that a large creature, TokTz-Ket-Dill, has been burrowing under the TzHaar city, endangering everyone there. They cannot get through without risking another collapse, so they need someone small - you - to go through the only entrance they have. Volunteer to help stabilize the tunnels and they will send you to TzHaar-Ket-Grol to enter the tunnels.

Head south and speak to TzHaar-Ket-Grol about going into the tunnels. He does not trust a JalYt like yourself to be able to help, and will not allow you to enter until you have materials: Tok-Xil-Im, Tok-Ket-Hurt, and TokJal-Hurt. Unless you happen to be an expert on the TzHaar language, you will need to head over to the TzHaar Library to figure out what TzHaar-Ket-Grol wants. Head west until you see the furnace icon on your minimap. The library cave entrance in to the southwest of the lava forge furnace. Enter and speak to TzHaar-Mej-Lor about the TzHaar language. He will refer you to the JalYt section, which is filled with ashes from books that had burnt. When you fail to get any help from him, he will tell you that Reldo in the Varrock Library sent him the books.

Make your way or teleport to Varrock. Go to the library in the Varrock Palace and speak to Reldo about the TzHaar language. He has a copy of the book you need, the TzHaar Tourist Guide, somewhere in the bookcases. This happens to be in the second bookcase up from the southwest corner of the room. When you open the book, you will find a note. Read it to discover the meanings of the numbers. Read through the book itself to find translations for TzHaar words. Translating the stone tablet TzHaar-Ket-Grol gave you gives: 1 Pickaxe of any kind, 20 Blocks of stone, and 15 Oak planks.

Return to TzHaar-Ket-Grol and tell him that you need a pickaxe, oak planks (which TzHaar-Hur-Frok can treat), and blocks of stone. TzHaar-Ket-Grol will instruct you to head to the mines to the northeast, where you need to learn how to mine magma. Bring your 15 oak planks to TzHaar-Hur-Frok who is around the quest start point and ask him to treat them. Bank the treated planks to save inventory space.

Go through the cave entrance northeast of TzHaar-Ket-Grol and speak to TzHaar-Hur-Brekt about learning proper magma mining. When he refuses, point out its importance or offer to pay - eventually he will mention that he needs your help convincing the other four miners to be in his play. First, however, he needs your help developing a plot the miners would be willing to participate in.

Speak to the miners about the play - they will immediately denounce it as against all things TzHaar. Speak to TzHaar-Hur-Brekt again about the play and suggest changing the plot. Offer up the idea of the humans starting it. Je accepts this as a better idea. Check with the miners again to find that, while the idea is an improvement, the plot is still “horrible.” Now the story needs to be tweaked to please each individual miner. Ask each one how the story could be improved:

The following section must be completed in this exact order otherwise you will need to reset the plot with Tzhaar-Hur-Brekt.

TzHaar-Hur-Klag: “TzHaar who gets assaulted in its home is TzHaar-Hur.”
TzHaar-Mej-Kol: “One is a TzHaar-Mej who is aware of the situation.”
TzHaar-Xil-Mor: “The criminal could be a TzHaar-Xil.”
TzHaar-Hur-Brekt: Decide on an ending - “The criminal’s plans are foiled.”
TzHaar-Xil-Mor: “The plans aren’t always foiled.”
Now that everyone is finally in agreement, speak to TzHaar-Hur-Brekt again to find that you must now assign roles to each miner. Assign and modify them as follows:

TokTz-Ket-Ek-Mack: TzHaar-Xil-Mor - No modification needed.
KetKul-Schmul: TzHaar-Mej-Kol - Modify the role to make him happier.
JalYt-Jenny: TzHaar-Ket-Jok - Modify the role to a TzHaar-Ket, but do not agree to him defeating the TzHaar-Xil.
TzHaar-Hur: TzHaar-Hur-Klag - Modify the role so he is not assaulted and the character is named TzHaar-Hur-Klag.
Report your success to TzHaar-Hur-Brekt and he will teach you to mine magma safely. Mine 20 slabs of obsidian for the tunnel repairs and use a chisel with a hammer in your inventory to craft them into pillars.

Head down through the crack in the wall to repair the tunnels. Examine each caved-in section to determine how to repair it - if it is simply “bad damage,” it can be repaired with treated planks; if it is “very bad damage,” it will require a pillar. When you have repaired each spot in the first room, mine through the collapsed tunnel to continue onward.

In this next room, you will have to defeat the Fire Monster (Level 47) with magic. The best spells to use are Water spells, the stronger the better. You can kill it immediately or you can repair the damage to the south, but you will have to defeat it before going across the stepping stones to the north. Repair the four spots to the south, then cross the stepping stones to fix the northeastern cave-ins. There are a total of 8 spots in this room - after you repair each, mine the collapsed tunnel to move on.

The next room with have another Fire Monster and two Lava Monsters. The Fire monster must again be killed with magic and the Lava monsters defeated with Range attacks. This room has 8 spots to be repaired in the south - it is wise to kill all three monsters in this room before repairing anything, as you block off paths necessary to kill them through your repairs. Once everything is repaired and all monsters are killed, cross the stepping stones and mine the collapsed tunnel.

Pass through into the final chamber and head through the north tunnel to face the TzTok-Ket-Dill (Level 100). Do not use protection prayers against TzTok-Ket-Dill, it will cause it to attack you with unblockable 20+ attacks. You need to break away his armour which can only be done with a rune pickaxe. After which the crush attack “Smash” (or any other weapon with a crush attack) will be the only damaging style.

When you have defeated the TokTz-Ket-Dill, head back out and go out the southern cave entrance and speak with any of the guards to report your success. They will congratulate you and reward you.

Go back to Wizard Cromperty of East Ardougne and give him the iron oxide! In return He’ll give you the Rock Animate Spell to free Petri!

Warning: Be prepared for a fight with a level 92 Slagilith.

Go back to the Goblin Cave and read the spell by the girl, and a level-92 Slagilith will appear, kill it - it’ll drop an addy ore, ruby and diamond and then read the spell again to free the girl.

Go back to Seer’s Village and Speak to Phantuwti, He’ll give you some problems, but just keep talking to him and he’ll eventually tell you that there’s a weather vane on the top of his roof that needs fixing. Head up the ladder and take the ladder up after that by the Spinning Wheel. While on the roof, use the hammer with the vane then search it to get the 3 parts… Then fix them at the anvils with a Bronze Bar for the Ornament, an Iron Bar for the Pillar and a Steel Bar for the Directionals. Go back up to the roof and fix them into place. When you’re done he’ll give you a forecast(Read it if you want a laugh… All that work for nothing… )

Go back to Arhein of Catherby and give him the report. He’s disappointed with the report but says he’ll send the T.R.A.S.H. to the Gnome Pilot right away.

Go back to the Gnome Pilot of White Wolf Mountain and ask if he’s gotten his T.R.A.S.H. - He’ll tell you the good news and that he’ll take Sanfew to the Ogre area.

Go back to Sanfew of Taverly and tell him that the Gnome Pilot will take him to the Ogres. He’ll tell you the good news and that he’ll take Hammerspike as an intiate.

Go back to Hammerspike of the Dwarven Mines and tell him that Sanfew will take him in as his initiate. He’ll tell you the bad news! That he rather be a gangster dwarf! His men attack you! You have to defeat these thugs, and then tell him to leave Tassie alone!

Go back to Tassie of Barbarian Village and tell her that Hammerspike won’t be bothering her anymore.. She’ll teach you how to make pot lids and give you a piece of soft clay, make a pot lid on the wheel then fire it up. Use the pot lid on a pot to get an Airtight Pot.

Go back to the Apothecary of Varrock and give him the airtight pot, He’ll in return fill it with Breating salts.

Go back to Horvik of Varrock and give him the Herbal Tincture, Breating Salts and 5 Pigeon Cages. He’ll in return give you 5 Chicken Cages.

Go back to Seth Groats of Lumbridge and give him the 5 chicken cages.

Monk’s Friend Quest

Posted by: cow  //  Category: Runescape Quests

(This is a members-only feature.)

Start Point: Talk to Brother Omad in the Monastery south of the Ardougne Zoo
Requirements: Jug of water and one set of regular logs

To start this quest head to the Monastery located south of the East Ardougne Zoo. Talk to Brother Omad who is just chilling in between the two altars.

Brother Omad will cry about how his homie’s baby just keeps whining all night long… obviously he’s not married with children! So anyways you find out that the baby’s blanket was stolen. And you’re just the man/woman to find it!

Since you offered to help recover the blanket from the bloodthirsty thieves Brother Omad decides to tell you that they are hiding in a cave inside a circle of stones. Walk northwest from the monastery until you find yourself at the Clock Tower.
Once at the Clock Tower walk to the southwest of it and find the circle of stones. Walk inside and a ladder will magically appear!

Once in the cave go to the right where the red item dot is on the minimap. Beware of the man-eating level 14 thieves as they are not a force to be reckoned with. Grab the blanket and head back to Brother Omad.

When you talk to Brother Omad he’ll inform you about a happening party thats going to take place in the monastery. (Isn’t that some form of a sin?) Anyways, he needs some wine so you’ll have to find Brother Cedric. Easy as that sounds, Cedric is apparently drunk and passed out somewhere in the middle of the forest.

Head north from the monastery up to the zoo and Cedric will be right there walking around. He’ll be wasted so you’re going to have to give him that jug of water you’ve been carrying around with you. Once he sobers up a little bit he’ll tell you about how he needs some wood for his cart. Help him out and you’ll be set for the party!

Once you fix the cart with your logs just head back to Brother Omad and get your dancing shoes on. Be careful though, those monks seem to have more energy than someone on ecstasy. You might be stuck dancing for a couple of hours.

Congratulations! Quest complete!
