Conquering The Kalphite Queen

Posted by: amber  //  Category: monster hunting, runescape hunting guide

This area has been rated as EXTREMELY HIGH-RISK. You should never attempt to fight the Kalphite Queen with items you are not willing to risk losing, and while in her chamber you should expect your death as a possibility at all times.

Overview
The Kalphite Queen (level 333) has two forms, each using different protection prayers. In both forms she will attack with all three attack types of combat and can hit over 300 with all of them. She is a formidible opponent, so to fight her you will need to be well prepared. If you succeed in defeating both forms of the Kalphite Queen, the rewards for killing her can be well worth the fight. Also, she sometimes drops a nice surprise; her head! The KQ head can be mounted as a trophy in your player-owned house using the Construction skill.

While fighting the Kalphite Queen, you will be in a multicombat area in which you will be attacked by her royal highness as well as level 141 Kalphite Guardians that have the ability to poison you.

It is possible to fight the Kalphite Queen on your own, but this requires very high levels and great risk (if you die no one will be there to bless or repair your gravestone). You are probably better off fighting the Kalphite Queen with a group of two (or more) high level characters.

Recommendations

Solo:

At least level 110+ combat with high defence
Full Veracs barrows armour (preferred) or high magic/range
Super sets, prayer potions, sharks (see equipment below)
A summoning familiar such as a Beast of Burden or a high level combat familiar.

Group:
Preferably two level 100+ combat
Both characters with Full Veracs or high magic/range
Super sets, prayer potions, sharks (see equipment below)

Preparing for Battle
In order to fight the Kalphite Queen, you will need to decide whether you are going to take a group or go it alone. If you fight the Queen by yourself you get to keep all the rewards, but also have a much greater risk of losing your items. Alternately, if you fight in a group you have a high chance of defeating the Queen and much lower risk of permanently losing your items. If you are serious about Kalphite Queen killing, Veracs is a wise investment.

Solo:
To fight the Kalphite Queen on your own, Veracs is not only strongly recommended, but almost absolutely necessary. It is very hard to consistently hit the Queen without it. To solo the queen refer to the Higher Risk Melee Equipment or Slayer Task Equipment below. When going solo, it is likely that you will need to make more than one trip in order to kill the Kalphite Queen, since she will only be attacking you. Using a summoning familiar helps extraordinary here, as the possibility of using either a beast of burden to carry extra sharks for you or a combat familiar to deal extra damage makes it much easier to deal with the Queen.

Group:
This guide will focus mainly on using two people to kill the Queen Kalphite, but the same strategy applies to more than two people. Of course, everyone having Veracs/Slayer Task is recommended, but not required. Below are pictures of the recommended equipment configurations. They are the same whether in group or solo, and will be explained in the Strategies and Tactics section.

Whether going in a group or going solo, you or your team must have the following items just to GET to the Kalphite Queen:

1 Shantay pass per person (or fairy staff for fairy rings)
2 ropes per group; if ropes have not been added all ready.
Equipment
Lower Risk Equipment

This setup is not nearly as good as using Veracs, but will emphasize maximizing your range and melee defence. Without Veracs armour, you will need to bring range supplies for effectively killing the second form of the Kalphite Queen.

Higher Risk Equipment

Veracs is truly the armour of choice for killing the Kalphite Queen. Using it will allow you to attack both first and second form, while providing a nice prayer bonus that lets you focus more on attacking and less on potting!
Slayer Task Equipment

The Kalphite Queen’s prayers are not like a normal player’s. Instead of lowering damage or completely blocking styles, they simply radically increase her defence towards those types of attacks. Therefore, with enough high bonuses, she can be fought using only one style, and not making use of Verac’s armour. With the advent of the Godsword, in conjunction with a slayer task of Kalphites (necessitating the use of a black mask or slayer helm), it is now possible to achieve bonuses that can be as or even more effective against the Queen than Verac’s. This style also requires relatively high risk.

Note: These pictures are intended for trips of 2 or more. Remember that if you are going solo that you must take TWO ropes if you have not added rope all ready, and likewise if in a larger group, you only need 2 people to take a rope. (usually the 2 highest levels since they can spare the inventory)

Further Note: Ring of Life is not recommended, since the Kalphite Queen hits very high and you are more likely to get killed from higher LP than to be low enough for the teleport away. You can use it, but don’t rely on it

Getting to Kalphite Queen
To get to the Kalphite Queen you and your team need to meet at the Shantay Pass bank, south of Al Kharid. If everyone in your group has unlocked the fairy rings from the Fairy Tale Part II quest, then using the Zanaris bank and fairy ring teleport BIQ will save you time and will eliminate the shanty pass. From either bank you can gather all your supplies and devise your plan of attack. When you are all ready, go through the Shantay Pass or teleport through the rings and head west. You will reach a well. If one of your members has not added rope all ready, one will need to be added, and then you can all go down into the Kalphite Dungeon.

Right before entering the second level and fighting the Queen you should drink a super set, turn on your prayer, and make any last minute preparations. The ideal location for this is shown as the “Potion Stop” on the map. Run past the Kalphite Guardians, and if a member has not added rope to the shaft all ready, one will need to be added to enter. the Queen’s Chamber. To reiterate, you MUST turn on your prayers before entering the room to ensure your protection. The Kalphite Queen can roam the room and may be near the rope where you enter!

Note: Some players wishing to take more food can choose to drink their super sets in the bank right when the team is going to head to the Kalphite Queen, and replace the pots with 3 more sharks. While this can grant you more space, you will have less of a stats bonus when facing the Kalphite Queen.

The Monsters
In case you were wondering what monsters you will be facing on your way to the Kalphite Queen as well as in the second dungeon, here is a list. Most of the monsters will be capable of poisoning you, but most likely will not until you are about to face the Kalphite Queen (see Strategies and Tactics for why we recommend taking a normal anti-poison instead of super anti-poison). For a list of drops see the Rewards section below.

Kalphite Monsters
Kalphite Worker (Level 28)
The Kalphite Workers are little threat. They can not poison you, but the Queen will summon them in large quantities during the fight.
Kalphite Soldier (Level 85)
The Kalphite Soldier can be found in the first tunnel. It is aggressive and can poison you.
Kalphite Guardian (Level 141)
The Kalphite Guardian can be found in deep in the first tunnel as well as in the Queen’s Chamber. It is aggressive, can poison you, and hits fairly hard. You should RUN past these.
Kalphite Queen (Level 333)
This is what you are here for. She can hit over 30 with all three types of attacks (melee, magic, and ranged) and will put up a hard fight in both of her forms.

Strategies and Tactics
Right before entering the final cave turn on your prayers. It’s recommended that you use protect from magic, since that is what will hit you the hardest. If you have a high prayer level (or if you have multiple prayer pots) you are best off using protect from magic, protect item, and your best boost prayer(s)(preferably piety-see below). If your prayer is not that high, then just use protect from magic and possibly protect item. Remember: Your prayer is almost as vital as your LP, if you run out of prayer you risk getting hit by all three forms of attack.

The best way to fight the Queen is for you and your partner(s) to spread out as evenly as possible so that the Queen must turn to attack you. If there are two of you, follow the picture below so that the Queen must turn 180 degrees between every melee or ranged attack. This will make the queen spend more time moving and less time attacking, making it easier to fight her without focusing on eating as much.

Once you get in this position, if a Kalphite Guardian is chasing you, tell your teammate to switch spots with you. This will cause the Kalphite Guardian to be out of reach, and should minimize the damage you take. Also, if you were poisoned by a Kalphite Guardian, use your anti-poison quickly! Odds are very small that you will need more than one dose per trip, which is why it is not recommended to use super anti-poisons.

First Form

To attempt a quick defeat of the Kalphite Queen’s first form, have at least one player in the group use a Dragon Dagger (p++), and those wanting to attempt large hits can use a Dragon Mace. Have everybody use all their specials on the first form. Eat as necessary. Once you have defeated the first form, the second form will fly out of the shell. If needed, your group can teleport out and quickly resupply and run back in. If your group can continue, switch over to full Veracs (if you used the high level form) or switch over to your range/mage gear.

Note:For those who have completed the Contact! quest, you can attempt using the Keris for high hits against the Kalphite Queen. This special is much more random than ordinary weapons, so while it may hit greatly, the results are very unpredictable.

Second Form

Melee with your full Veracs/Godsword Slayer Task combo or use your ranged/mage from a distance to kill the second form of the Queen. She will continue to hit hard with all three types of combat (30+ in each type). It is still recommended to use protect from magic prayer since that is what hits the hardest.

Rewards
What fun would it be fighting the Kalphite Queen without a good reward? None at all! Here’s a table of what you and your team could earn while defeating her:

Kalphite Queen’s Highly Valued Drops
Pic Name Item Function
Dragon Chainbody Very strong chest armour
Dragon 2h Sword A Powerful two-handed weapon
Shield Left Half Merged with Shield Right Half to form Dragon Sq Shield (not unique to Kalphite Queen, but chances are higher from her)
Dragon Med Helm Dragon Helmet slightly stronger than runite (also not unique to Kalphite Queen, but chances are higher from her)
Lava Battlestaff A magic battlestaff that supplies unlimited earth and fire runes simultaneously (Not as valuable as it once was before Slayer, since it is no longer unique to Kalphite Queen, but still considered one of her rarer drops)

The Kalphite Queen also drops several other prizes, including 500 mithril arrows, power amulets, and rune chainbodies.

Using LootShare
Jagex has created LootShare chat especially for players fighting as a team in a multi-combat area. Not only will this system report your team’s drops for everybody within the chat (with at least the minimum set rank), but will also increase each individual’s chances of getting drops, opposed to drops being limited to only one or a few individuals who consistently do the most damage.

To have a chance at the drops from the LootShare system, you must be within 16 squares of the killed monster, also make sure that your rank is set high enough to have a chance for team drops if you are in a team using LootShare.

If the Clan Chat owner has the Coinshare option enabled, all those entitled to recieve lootshare drops will have it activated. If the Kalphite Queen drops a Dragon Chainbody, Dragon Spear, Dragon 2Hed Sword, Dragon Medium helmet, or a Shield left half(dragon), the drop will be converted to coins and all lootshare members will recieve an equal split.

Please refer to our New Members P2P guide for a listing of all worlds the Lootshare system is enabled upon. Note that worlds can change frequently and Jagex’s world select page should be your point of reference for Lootshare worlds.

Extra Tips
There are a few things to emphasize here, but most extra tips were already covered in Strategies and Tactics.

Keep your LP as high as possible without wasting food. Never let it drop below 500. If you feel confident, wait until you need to eat 2 sharks at a time.
Pay attention to your prayer while not eating, to make sure that you do not run out of prayer points!
Avoid the Kalphite Guardians while fighting the Queen. This can take some practice, but a group can almost always get out of being attacked by them. This is when a “spot swap” can come in handy. That is when the two players in a duo team switch spots at the same time. This way the Guardians can not reach their targets.
If you run out of prayer and have no potions left, teleport immediately.
Teleport to home, then back to Al Kharid after each trip. You can bank and return about as quickly as the Queen respawns, so it is rarely worth the time waiting for a respawn.
If you think you’re barely going to make it, teleport before it’s the last moment. You can’t always count on your teammates to save your gravestone.
Collect Potato Cactus around the edges of the room before you teleport if you are not close to dying. This can be quite profitable over several trips.
Using a summoning familiar can greatly decrease the difficulty of killing the Kalphite Queen. Using either a Beast of Burden or a combat familiar both gives the Queen an additional target and can either carry a lot more food or deal extra damage, allowing you to kill the Queen quicker.

Bandos’s Stronghold

Posted by: amber  //  Category: monster hunting, runescape hunting guide

Introduction
Please refer to the general God Wars guide for the basic mechanics of God Wars Dungeon. Bandos’s chosen General is General Graardor.
He is usually referred to by players as the easiest of the God Wars Dungeon bosses to defeat. However, you should always be aware while fighting, he can still hit very hard, up to 690 at maximum. He has two attacks, one a melee attack which hits up to 600, and secondly a ranged-based attack which can hit a maximum of 350. He will only target one player with his melee attack at once: if you are his target, always pray protect from melee. His ranged attack hits all players. Very few items give protection from his followers: the Ancient Mace, Bandos godsword, and the items from the Bandos armour set. You can also take a dip in the Bandos pool if you’ve completed the As a First Resort… quest. To enter, you need a hammer and 70 strength. General Graardor’s most prized drops include Bandos armour pieces, as well as godsword shards and his godsword hilt. If using the Trollheim teleport to arrive at the dungeon, use this strategy to keep a full inventory: Teleport to Trollheim, drop 2 food items, teleport back to a bank, get 2 more of the items dropped, and then teleport back to Trollheim. You should now have a full inventory.

Strategy
The best strategy to fight Bandos is by using a tank method. In this method, one player will enter first, praying melee. This is usually the highest levelled player in the group. His outfit will emphasize ranged defence, and he will suffer all damage from General Graardor. Other players should emphasize prayer and attack bonus, while still having fair defence to protect from the minions, as well as in case the General turns on them from spawning or killing the tank. These players should pray ranged while Graardor is alive. The tank should always enter the room first and engage Graardor. Then, and only then, should the rest of the team enter. After killing Graardor, the minions should be killed in this order: Steelwill (praying magic), then either Grimspike (praying range) or Strongsack (praying melee). Then, everyone but the tank should go to the very north-western corner, because Graardor spawns on the south-east side. The tank should engage him as soon as possible. While tanking, if you need to eat or drink a potion, run quickly under Graardor, eat, and then attack him. With practice, you can avoid getting hit while eating.

The best spot for kill-count is outside the Stronghold, near the ice bridge to Zamorak’s Fortress, on goblins and hobgoblins. For this spot you will need to bring a zamorak item. The other spot is on hobgoblins, outside the Stronghold, but just south of the Bandos boss room. You do not need an item for this spot.

Suggested Levels (warrior)

70 attack, strength, and defence
60 prayer (70 strongly recommended)
If ranging, 70+ ranged
Suggested Levels (tank)

85 defence
80 attack and strength
70 prayer
Keep in mind that these are suggested minimum levels. You can kill Graardor with lower levels, but you will perform much better with higher levels, and it is also much easier to find a group with higher stats. In a larger group, you can get away with lower stats. Having 70 prayer to bless teammates graves, as well as for piety, is highly recommended. Ranging and meleeing are both good choices. Maging, however, is ineffective against all God Wars Bosses, due to its low accuracy and the low defence of robes.

Having 52 summoning for a spirit terrorbird to carry extra supplies is recommended, and higher levelled Beasts of Burden or combat familiars are also an aid. Note: don’t bring an aggressive familiar, like a terrorbird if you’re not the tank. If your familiar attacks him, he’ll focus on you. Instead, bring a passive familiar, like a bunyip.

Equipment
Recommended equipment (warrior):
Note: Items are listed from the best to the worst

Weapon: Godsword > Abyssal Whip
Helmet: Helm of Neitiznot > Berserker helm > Warrior helm
Amulet: Fury > Glory
Body: Bandos Chestplate* > Verac’s Brassard > Other high defence platebodies
Legs: Bandos Tassets* > Verac’s Plateskirt > Other high defence platelegs

Gloves: Barrows > Dragon > Rune > Regen Bracelet > Adamant > Combat Bracelet
Ring: Berserker Ring(i) > Warrior Ring(i) > Berserker Ring > Warrior Ring > Ring of Life

*Note: Starred items are Bandos items that will protect you from his minions outside the boss room. Having one (or dipping in the Bandos Pool) is NECESSARY.

Recommended inventory (warrior):

8 Prayer Potions
2 Super attack and 2 super strength potions/ 2 ranging potions
Hammer
Teleport
Summoning pouches (optional)
Rest food (sharks recommended)*

Note: You should share food with your tank when needed - the tank will suffer much greater damage than warriors.

Void

Void is recommend for large teams because of it’s low defense.

Recommended equipment (tank):
Weapon: Abyssal Whip > Godsword

Teleport
Summoning Pouches (optional)

Solo
Soloing Bandos has both drawbacks and benefits over teams. It’s much easier to start a trip, and you get to keep all your drops yourself, although your trips are much shorter, and usually more expensive. There are also higher requirements.

Recommended Levels:

90 attack, strength and defence
70 prayer
52+ summoning
70+ magic
The strategy is similar to acting as the tank in a team. You will pray melee, emphasize range defence, and fight the boss. However, godswords help much more on killing the boss, and you need to deal much more damage, while taking more damage than in a team. You will use sharks instead of brews and restores.

Recommended equipment (solo):

Weapon: Godsword > Abyssal Whip
Helmet: Torag’s Helm/Guthan’s Helm > Other high defence helms
Amulet: Fury > Glory
Body: Karil’s Top > Bandos Chestplate*
Legs: Bandos Tassets > Other high defence platelegs
Shield: (If using whip) Dragonfire Shield > Blessed Spirit Shield > Obsidian Shield
Cape: Soul Wars > Fire cape > Skill Cape
Boots: Dragon > Rune
Gloves: Barrows > Dragon

Recommended Inventory (Solo)

Super attack, super strength, and super defence potion
Three prayer potions
Hammer
Teleport
Rest Sharks

Praying Piety as well as melee protect can speed up your kills and limit damage, but it does use far more prayer points. It’s up to personal preference. Using a summoned familiar helps the most during solo runs: you can use a Terrorbird or Tortoise to greatly increase your inventory.

Lootshare
While fighting as a team in this multicombat area, use the LootShare chat system to ensure honest reporting of monster drops. Not only will this system report your team’s drops for everybody within the chat (with at least the minimum set rank), but will also increase each individual’s chances of getting drops, as opposed to drops being limited to only one or a few individuals who consistently do the most damage.

To have a chance at the drops from the LootShare system, you must be within 16 squares of the killed monster. Also make sure that your rank is set high enough to have a chance for team drops if you are in a team using LootShare.

If the Clan Chat owner has the Coinshare option enabled, all those entitled to recieve lootshare drops will have it activated. Coinshare is only applied to certain drops. The drop will be converted to coins and all lootshare members will receive an equal split if General Graardor or any of his minions drop any of these items:

Godsword shard 1, 2, or 3
Bandos Boots, Chestplate, or Tassets
Bandos Hilt
Dragon Med Helm
Dragon Spear
Shield Left Half (dragon)
Please refer to our New Members P2P guide for a listing of all worlds the Lootshare system is enabled upon. Note that worlds can change frequently and Jagex’s world select page should be your point of reference for Lootshare worlds.

Conclusion
Bandos is one of the most simple God Wars dungeon bosses to understand and is a good first boss for beginners to try out. Killcount can be had on low-leveled creatures, and the boss’s attacks can be avoided so long as you are not tanking. It is also one of the more popular bosses to team, so finding a group is usually easier than the other bosses. Please note that this is an introduction for newcomers: this is just one of the multitude of strategies applicable in God Wars. Good luck!

Bounty Worlds (+1 Item)

Posted by: cow  //  Category: runescape news

With the recent disabling of Protect Item prayers on PvP Worlds, a lot of players feel that we had rendered their high-value weapons (godswords and dragon claws, in particular) worthless. While no changes had been made to the weapons themselves, the amount of wealth you had to risk in order to use those weapons was considered prohibitively high.

We obviously don’t want you to feel like your investment is wasted; we appreciate how much work some of you have put into getting those items! But, we also don’t want to undo changes that we feel are good for PKing as whole.

So, we’ve come up with a way of hopefully achieving both goals. Today we are introducing a new type of Bounty World. These ‘+1 item’ worlds still won’t allow you to use the Protect Item prayer, but, instead, everyone will always keep their most valuable item protected.

On these worlds, to gain drop potential you (as usual) have to be risking 75k (or 25k on a free world). Because you always keep your most valuable item on these worlds, this means you have to risk 75k of items in ADDITION to your always-protected item.

This has the following advantages:

a) It still achieves our original intentions of making it harder to gain drop potential and participate in rewarding combat without actually really risking something;

b) It stops high-value weapons being made worthless and still maintains that type of gameplay for people who enjoy it;

c) Conversely, people who feel the new, more powerful weapons unbalanced PKing, without any risk to the wielder, have a different type of world that they can enjoy too.

NOTE - Our ISP issues have meant that world 32, the planned +1 item Bounty World for free players, is not currently available. We sincerely apologise and hope to get this world back online as soon as possible.

PvP World Changes

Posted by: cow  //  Category: runescape news

Players who enter a PvP or Bounty World will now automatically become skulled and unable to use the Protect Item prayer. The skull will not disappear over time or when a player dies, unless they go to a non-PvP world, in which case the skull behaves like normal. Note that this means you will always lose everything you are carrying if you get killed by another player, and that there is no way for you to keep any items on death while in a PvP or Bounty World.

Additionally, on members’ worlds, your victims must now lose at least 75,000 coins’ worth of items (increased from 25,000) for your earning potential to be applied to the drop. On free-to-play worlds, the amount the victim must lose remains at 25,000 coins.

Please note that you will have to be in a safe area before you can next log into a PvP or Bounty World. You will need to log into a non-PvP/Bounty World in order to move to a safe area. This is to ensure nobody logs in risking more than they are aware of. A message will explain this on login if you try to enter these worlds. This only applies to your next PvP/Bounty World login; from then on, you will be able to log in as normal.

Quest difficulty level: Easy.
Reward: 1125 prayer xp.
Quest points gained: 1.
Introduction: A ghost is haunting Lumbridge graveyard. The priest of the Lumbridge church of Saradomin wants you to find out how to get rid of it.

RESTLESS GHOST QUEST WALKTHROUGH
Father Urhney: He will give you an Amulet of Ghostspeak.
Ghost: Wear the amulet and go and talk to the ghost behind the church. He tells you that he cannot rest until he has his skull back and tells you to search in the Wizards Tower for the skull.
Skull: You can find the skull in the basement of the Wizards Tower. Pick it up and you will get attacked by a skeleton.
Ghost: Return to the ghost and place the skull in his coffin. The restless ghost can finally rest in peace and you will get your reward. This completes the quest.

Runescape PRIEST IN PERIL QUEST STRATEGY

Posted by: cow  //  Category: Runescape Quests

Starting location: King Roald, Varrock Palace.
Quest difficulty level: Easy.
Reward: Wolfbane Dagger, some prayer exp., and access to Morytania.
Quest points gained: 1.
Required Skills: Must be able to kill a level 30 guardian.
Required Items: Bucket and 50 rune essences.
PRIEST IN PERIL QUEST WALKTHROUGH
Roald: King Roald will ask you to check on Drezel in the Guardian Temple northeast of Varrock. You can find it by going north along the fence that surrounds the Digsite area until it curves around. You’ll come to a gate. Go through it and follow the road east to the temple.
Temple: Knock on the doors and tell them that you’ve been sent to check on Drezel. You will be asked to kill a dog. This is down the trapdoor in the mausoleum just north of the temple. The dog is level 30, and shouldn’t be a problem. Once you’ve done this, go back and knock on the doors again. They will send you back to Varrock.
Roald: Go to King Roald again and tell him what you’ve done. He will be quite mad at you. When he’s done shouting and yelling, ask him what you can do to make it good again. Go back to the temple, this time go in and up the two sets of ladders.
Drezel: Talk with Drezel and he’ll tell you a long story. Now go downstairs and kill the level 30 Monks of Zamorak until you get a Golden Key. Once you have the key, go back down to the place where you killed the dog, but this time go further into the cave. Once you’re at some monuments and a well, ’study’ all the monuments.
Key and Water: When you find the monument which has a key, ‘use’ your Golden Key on it, and you will have the iron key to free Drezel. Use your bucket on the well to get some water from the river. Go back to Drezel and use your iron key on the door. Speak with him and get him to bless your water, then use it on the coffin in the centre of the room. Speak with Drezel once more.
Draining the evil: Now get as many essences as you can hold. Go back to the place you got the iron key and the holy water, and proceed through the next door. You’ll find Drezel again. Speak with him and tell him about what the rune essences can do. He’ll need 50 of them so go back and get the rest. Drezel doesn’t take essence notes.
Completeing the quest: Talk with Drezel and give him the last essences. The quest is now completed.

RECOMMENDED MONSTERS TO KILL ON RUNESCAPE

Posted by: cow  //  Category: Runescape Skills

One: Go to Lumbridge where the chickens are located and kill lots of them. Collect their feathers for fly fishing, bury their bones for prayer levels, and cook their meat to get your cooking levels up.
Two: Cows are another good thing to kill. Bury their bones for prayer; keep the cow hide for crafting, and meat for cooking.
Three: Fight Black Knights. They drop quite good items and bones to bury. They also drop steel bars for smithing.

Runescape GENERAL CHEATS, TRICKS, HINTS AND TIPS

Posted by: cow  //  Category: Runescape Cheats

Good player killing: Get your attack up to 40 so that you can hold Rune and get your defense up to 10. Next, get your strength as high as possible. You should be able to hit somewhere between 20 and 27.
Easier survival: To survive anywhere, bring a sleeping bag and when you get low on health, sleep in it. It will heal while you are sleeping and you cannot be attacked during that time.
Get skull without fighting skeleton: Tired of dying from fighting the skeleton to get the skull? All you have to do is get the skull before you start the restless ghost mission. The skull can be found in the dungeon of the wizard tower. After you get the skull talk to the Priest to start the quest, then you wont have to fight the skeleton.

Hidden mine: On the road to Varrok (the way to Stonehenge), you will notice a little opening on the wooden gates when you reach the entrance. Instead of going inside Varrok, go through the opening on the left gate (from behind you) and keep walking. There will be a mine that not many people use. The mine contains Iron, Silver, Tin, Copper, and Clay.
Secret mining pit: When you get skilled enough to mine coal and admanite, and do not feel like tangling with scorpions to get it, there is a perfectly safe mining field just outside of Lumbridge. Go to Lumbridge Swamp and move east. You will soon find an ocean. Keep close and go south. You will find the secret mining pit soon.

Strong attacks: Get a full body of armor and use your defensive attack. The attack will do at least 5 damage. Note: The enemy will most likely drop nothing.
Combat levels, prayer levels, money, and good items: Get a Brass Key by any means necessary. You can find them far into the “dungeon/mines” of Edgeville. Go to the locked little house with a ladder leading down inside in between Varrok and the Barbarian Village. Use the Brass Key with the door providing access. Take the first turn to the left into a close room (with a gate) filled with giants (level 36). The giants give good experience, drop big bones (better for prayer than normal bones), money (up to 47 GP dropping at a time), and good items (steel and iron items, gems of all grades except for diamond, and all runes). Note: Bring a fly fishing rod and feathers to fish for some food when down there.
Raise Ranging and magic: Use Bronze Arrows or Mind Runes and Air Runes, which make Air Strike, to attack the people that are in jail in Port Sarim or the Wizards Tower at the top where the lesser demon is level 75 and locked up next to the level 43 mage. Note: The mage will attack you if you attack the lesser demon. Get Bark to make Bark Armor at the Magic Castle. This can cost more than 60,000 gp.
Cook’s guild: To get into the Cooks guild, you will need a Chef’s Hat and level 32 cooking. To get a Chef’s Hat, kill goblins until you get one . To get your cooking to level 32, cook meat until you reach that level. Then, wear your Chef’s Hat and travel northwest from Varrok to find the Cook’s guild, or just look on the Runescape map.
Defeating hard level creatures: To defeat hard level creatures easier (for example, Lessers or Hellhounds), get behind a rock or other cover and shoot them. Note: This only works if you are a Mage or Archer.
Adamantite and Mithril Ores: Go to Lumbridge, then go to the back of the castle. You should eventually find a gate. Go around the gate, and at the far west just before the river, you should see a building. Just south of the building should be some mining rocks. Prospect the rocks until you see the rock that you are looking for (either Adamantite or Mithril). There are many other rocks there.
Air Runes: To get easy Air Runes, go to Karamja. Go behind Luthas’s house. You will see three Air Runes there. Since they respawn fast, stay there and in thirty minutes you will have over 200.
Black Kites: Use the following trick to get Black Hatchets, Mediums, Maces, and Kites. If you want to get the Hatchets, Mediums, and Maces, go straight up from Edgeville to level 15 wilderness. There will be a castle here. Walk in and kill level 21 Dark Warriors until they drop these items. For Black Kites; go all the way west to the wilderness until you reach to a big open ocean. Go straight north until you see the level 60+ Ice Giants. Kill them to get Black Kites.
Blue Rune rock: Note: They are in wild about level 42. Go to the west side and north all way. Go east slightly to find red spiders guarding the only blue Rune Rock in the game.
Rune Rock: Go north from Falador and go past the mine. Keep going north until you find lava. Go left to the end of the lava, then go north past the Lesser Demons. After that, go right. You can only find it in wilderness at level 45. You will find the rune rocks, with Red Spiders guarding it. Note: The rock probably will have been mined already.
Rune Rock (2): The Blue Rune rock requires level 85 mining. Also, to make a rune item, the least smithing experience you need is level 85. Note: Mining Runite on a busy server is not recommended, as people might be waiting there to kill anyone who attempts to mine it.
Bronze Dagger: Go to Lumbridge Castle. When inside, turn to your left and go down the hall past the cooking place. In the last room, go up the ladder then find the room with the Duke Of Lumbridge. Enter that room and go to the table at the end of it. If you wait long enough, a bronze dagger will appear.
Liquid Armor: If you are a member, go to the impassable mountain range. Get into the fort first to get through, then keep moving. If desired, you can fight the level 110 Dragons. Keep moving and you will find Liquid Armor, which is stronger than Dragonite Armor (must have level 200 attack defense strength).
Red Spider Eggs: Go to Karajama Island. Go past the banana grove until you get to the scorpions. When you get there, go down the ladder and pass the skeletons. You will find red spider eggs. Note: You need to be at least over level 30.
Easter Egg: Kill high level monsters such as White Knight, Ice Giants, etc. on Easter. Note: You will not always get an Easter Egg, but the higher level the monster, the higher the chance.
Santa Hat: Kill high level monsters such as White Knight, Ice Giants, etc. on December 25.
Christmas Crackers: On December 25, kill monsters of any level and you might get Christmas Crackers. Note: The drops are random.
Easter Ears: To get Easter Ears, kill any monster on Easter.

83 Mining

Introduction

Mining Rune Ore is perhaps one of the best ways of making money in RuneScape, with an experienced miner being able to bring in 1 million gp in just 3 hours.
This guide will focus on Mining Rune at the Wilderness Rune Mine, as it is the only place in which Free players may mine Rune, and because the other sites are easy enough to mine at anyway.

Recommended Levels

To begin this profitable venture, you will need a few levels to begin with. These are

83+ Mining (Required): Although you need 85 mining to mine Rune, it is possible to do so before. To do this, you will need either a Dwarven stout, which increases your Mining and Smithing Levels by 1, or a mature Dwarven Stout which does so by 2.
It is however strongly recommended that you get 85 mining. This is because it will make things much simpler, as you will not need to take up inventory space by carrying the stouts, they can be hard to buy, and the time that they last is unpredictable.

High Combat Level (Recommended): It is recommended that you have fairly high combat stats, due to the fact that the Rune Rocks are surrounded by level 34 spiders, and due to the fact that they are located in around level 54 Wilderness, you will be able to be attacked by most Revenants; and such you will need to defend yourself.

39+ Prayer (Recommended): It is highly recommended that you have at least 39 prayer so that you may use the prayer protect from magic- although having 43 so that you can use all the protect prayers is preferred.

High Agility (Recommended and members only)- If you are a member, then it is highly recommended that you raise your agility level to at least 30. This will not take to long, and you will most definitely notice the difference. This is because you will be doing a fair amount of running whilst mining rune- be it to the bank, or from Revenants, and you will find the extra energy extremely useful.

Recommended Equipment

You will need the right gear if you want to mine rune successfully. Below are some recommended set ups, but you may add and remove items depending on your budget and levels.

An example of some good equipment. You should change items depending on your levels, and if you are a member or not.

Set up 1- Free to Play

Head- Wizards Hat
Torso- Best d’hide body you can wear
Legs- Best d’hide chaps you can wear
Shield- Anti dragon fire shield
Weapon- Rune Pickaxe
Gloves- Leather Gloves
Amulet- Amulet of defence or Holy Symbol

Set up 2- Members

Head- farseer helm, wizards hat
Torso- Best d’hide body you can wear
Legs- Best d’hide chaps you can wear
Shield- Elemental or Mind Shield
Weapon- Rune Pickaxe
Gloves- Forthity Bracelet
Amulet- Glory Amulet, Amulet of Defence or Holy Symbol

Both of these set ups provide good magic defence, which is what a revenant will usually attack with first, whilst still remaining cheap.

Recommended Inventory

An example of a good inventory.

Around 5 Tuna fish or lobsters: Tuna is recommended, as it is extremely cheap, whilst it still heals a good amount (10hp). Those who are new to rune mining, or with low combat levels may want to take lobsters or swordfish.

3 Cakes: Although they only heal 4hp per bite, in total cake heals 12hp whilst still being cheap. It is recommended that you eat these when not in immediate danger as not to waste money on more expensive fish.

Anti Poison (members): In members worlds, Revenants will often poison you in 50+ Wilderness. There is a chance that you will be teleported here if using Obelisks to travel, and such to prevent an early trip to the bank, it is recommended that you take 1 anti poison potion.

Prayer Potion (members): You will often pray a lot if you encounter Revenants, and such you may save yourself a trip to the altar by carrying 1 prayer potion.

Travel and Location

It is not easy reaching these rare rocks, however with these tricks your journey should be slightly less treacherous.

From Edgeville or Varrock: This is the most dangerous route, and the only one open to free players. You simply walk to the rocks from either Edgville or Varrock.

Skills Necklace (members only): Members may use a Games Necklace to teleport to either Bounty Hunter or Clan Wars. You may then either use teleport obelisks, or walk to the Rune rocks.

Ancient Magiks Spells (members only): several spells from the Ancient Magiks spellbook will teleport you near the Rune rocks; these are-

- Dareeyak teleport;78 magic- The ruins
- Carrallangar teleport; 84 magic- The Graveyard
- Annakarl teleport; 90 magic- The Demonic Ruins
- Ghorrock teleport; 96 magic- The Ice Plateau

Teleport Obelisks (members only): There are several Teleport Obelisks scattered across the Wilderess. If you teleport using one of these, then you will be randomly sent to another. There is one outside bounty hunter, and anther just west of the Rune rocks, meaning that you can reach them easily.

- Green line: Using Teleport Obelisks
- Pink line: Dareeyak teleport
- White line: Carrallangar teleport
- Blue line: Annakarl teleport
- Peach line: Ghorrock teleport
- Black line: from Varrock
- Brown line: from Edgeville

Whilst Mining

Whilst mining, there are several things you should check you have done.

Sound: Make sure that you have the sound effects turned UP. This way you can hear a Revenants magic attack, and such run and use the correct protection prayers straight away.

Auto Attack: You should also have this turned OFF. That way you will not run towards any attacking Revenants.

Run: Have this turned ON, whilst mining, so that you can run from attacking Revenants straight away.

You should also keep an eye on your mini map, and your camera angle low, so that you can see Revenants, and run from them at quickly at possible.

Banking

You should not bank with a full inventory of Rune. This will mean that you cannot run for long, and if you die you will lose a lot of money. You should also make sure that you have some food left.
There are several ways that you can bank your Rune.

Bounty Hunter: This is probably the best way, as it is close by. Members may use Teleport Obelisks, and teleport right outside, whilst free players will have to walk.

Mage Arena (members only): This is the second best method, but is not recommended as you will have to walk around high levelled wilderness, which is a hotspot for Revenants.

- Green line: Using teleport obelisks
- Peach line: Mage arena

Revenants

Throughout this guide, I have mentioned Revenants several times. For those who are not familiar with them, they are dangerous ghosts that replaced Pking. They can hit up to 30 often, and could leave even the most experienced of players dead before they know what’s hit them.
They will usually use there magic attack first, but can use all styles of combat and will change depending on what protection prayer you use.
Such it is advised that you take plenty of food whilst mining, and only items that you are willing to lose.

Grave Stones

Mining Rune is a dangerous past time, and such you will most probably die at some point. When this happens, you will leave behind a gravestone. These last for a few minutes, and if you reach it in time you will receive all of your items back. You can purchase new gravestones from the church in Lumbridge, whilst members may also purchase more once they have finished the drunken dwarf quest.

Tips and Tricks

- The higher your mining level, the faster you will mine Rune.
- Revenants will usually use their Magic attack first; turn your sound up and learn to recognise it so that you may use protect prayers and run straight away.
- If you die, you can still get your items back; but you will need to get to the place that you died at within a few minutes.

World Hopping

As Rune ore takes so long to respawn, it is reccomended that you world hop. It is a good idea to pick around 5 worlds and cycle through them, so that you will be there when the ore spawns.
